I think it's great NASCAR is being included. The more, the merrier I say. Also I wish Polyphony got the licence to the V8 Supercars instead of them being in Forza 3.:guilty:

Who else thinks that 22 tracks dedicated for Nascar would not be a waste of space on the disc?

Not to mention with those 22 tracks, most of them have infield tracks.

Is it wrong to wish for 22 tracks to be in the United States?

Well I think the problem is not all 22 NASCAR tracks are very good. New Hampshire, Kansas, etc some of these tracks would be a waste of space on disc in my opinion for a sim that is not all about NASCAR. Adding all the NASCAR tracks would be like adding all the F1 tracks, even the sorry ones like the Hungaroring

Personally I would be happy with this diverse NASCAR track list that represents every type of oval

Daytona
Bristol
Phoenix
Lowes
Michigan
Darlington
Indianapolis

There are thousands of tracks within the United States. 22 ovals could be a bit much for a game with ALL sorts of cars. Even with an oval like Daytona, or an oval like Indianapolis we get a infield course out of that. Look at it from my stand point, I have been living with EA Nascar games for long enough. I think PD should do all 22 oval tracks.

But take the WRC for instance. I wouldn't mind if that had all of 2009's dirt courses in the game.

If you are going to have WRC and Nascar in the game, then give them all of their respective tracks.

there should be 2 versions of GT5 one with NASCAR for the US market and one with WRC for the rest of the world. It could even raise funds for PD if they had NASCAR just as a paid for DLC. it dilutes the gran turismo franchise really, i feel PD/japanese driving enthusiasts would rather stay at home than watch a NASCAR race. It's been done for purely dollars. It helps the budget perhaps, but it makes us wait longer. i could do without the WRC content aswell to be honest.

👎 Lay off of it hater.

You know Earth, I wouldn't mind taking a Stock car to Europe. heh

Id be happy with just bristol and a medium speedway. Still, The more the merrier.. I just cant wait to see how those cars would handle good old Schleify Nurburger. Carburators FTW!!!

That would completely defeat the purpose of Kaz's reason for putting NASCAR in the game! He said that one main reason he wanted to put it in is that he wanted to show how NASCAR REALLY is to the rest of the world...

I am only starting to enjoy NASCAR now since it's come on Australian TV (One HD!!). I will be looking forward to racing and finding out more about it. Just because Europeans might not like NASCAR now, GT5 might change their minds.

I don't hate NASCAR and will try to play it in GT5, but there are better events for me. Europeans do like rally, because driving through a twisty slippy narrow forest road in constant drift in 200 km/h seems to be more fun than driving 300 km/h on wide oval.

NASCARs don't just run on ovals. They run on circuits aswell. I watched the event at Watkins Glen a couple of months ago, and it was very exciting to watch.

Not to mention that driving 300 Km/h in an oval, 3 centimeters away from your opponents is pure thrill. One little mistake and the race is over.

EDIT: I can understand that people have more fun rallying though, its always a matter of taste.

I just hope PD gets the tire wear right, because after 10 laps on those slicks, every hater will realize how hard it is to keep the noise pointed straight. Boy its going to be a thrill if they do it right.

Nascar Racing 2003 seemed like the perfect model for how the cars should handle.

Couldn't agree more with both of you guys. 👍

All 22 Nascar tracks should be on the game tbh. As should all the Super GT tracks.

WRC may be more difficult to do, even the official WRC games on the PS2 all those years ago didn't try and replicate the stages exactly.

I'd love to see all the F1, LMS and ALMS tracks on GT5 as well.

NASCAR isnt even racing, its just turning left. stupid that PD would allow that junk to be in their game.
:odd:
That's like saying Drag Racing isn't racing because you only go straight...
👍

:boggled:
Here is a clue, dont race as any of the NASCARs then. Its not like the game wont function properly unless you race in NASCAR. Probably one of the dumbest posts I've seen. I fail to see how it 'diltutes' GT? All it does is add to the racing experience. Then you say leave out WRC? Um we love Rally racing in the US too? More cars from different styles of racing = more fun.

Besides, I'm eager to see how PD does NASCAR, since EA hasnt the slightest clue.

For all you folks in Europe...

I am not really a fan of Nascar, watching it certainly not and the games havne't ever done it for me, but I absolutely agree, glad it's in there... why not! The only thing I could think of going wrong is if PD impliment it poorly but I personally doubt they will so at worst it's an extra element.

I wish both had gotten V8 supercars...

Thankfully though, Forza doesn't have the license so PD could pick that up as well as still contact Ford Austrailia (Tickford as I still know them) And Holden an model the cars.

Ah yes, love that track. Hasn't been in many games, but I loved racing around it in Total Immersion Racing. Its always been interesting to me for the fact that it (just like Pocono) is one of the few non-symmetrical Ovals in the world.

I was at that race. I'm not a NASCAR fan really but if its on TV I will tune for a few laps here and there. However, it does provide some of the best racing anywhere when they go to a road course. I have gone there every year since 1999 and loved it. Personally I would love to see them race more road courses such as Portland or Road America. That's really the only reason I'm looking forward to seeing them in GT5, so I can run them on tracks like the Nurburgring and Suzuka. Taking 3400 lb. cars with 900 hp around such a track sounds like a lot of fun.

Nascar rocks! I (as a European) am very excited about Nascar in GT5. And i'm sure many many many other Europeans AND Asian people are too.

I would like to see more than the COT(Sprint Cup).Like 1970's/1980's Cup Series cars,The NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour, and Maybe some Late Models(Paved and Dirt) or maybe some Bandolero/Legend Cars.

Modifieds at New Hampshire Motor Speedway
Bandolero's at Bowman Gray Stadium(I am the 61 in the First Race)
Legends at Concord Speedway(InCar)
Super Late Model's at Orange County Speedway

I was against this idea of having NASCAR in GT at first, being skeptical that they would lose focus of the game. However, this gaming being a sim. I suspect they would do a better job at car feedback than any of the other NASCAR racing titles out there. EA's last version (which is now on hiatus), was horrible IMO.

I could see going into photo mode and actually having these photos printed and framed for my man room.

I just hope that PD can get the cars to handle realistic. Turn 10 did a horrible job with the stock cars in Forza 3. They handle way too good. Anyone could simply hold it wide open without any fear of hitting the wall or spinning out.

I'm not even going to say anything about EA Sports.

If PD can get the handle right, I hope for the love of AC130's that they include the Atlanta Motor Speedway. A 50 lap run there and it will teach all the idiot haters the turning left/going in circles isn't so "simple" or "boring". Any NASCAR fan who has watched or been to a race there knows what i'm talking about.

Stock car/nascar means we will be able to tune each suspension individually, right? Otherwise cars on ovals wouldn't handle correctly.
Also if individual suspension tuning is in, detailed tire temperature should be too, I think.

I'm looking forward to driving those awesome cars, wondering if there'll be trucks as well. It would be great racing at Texas Motor Speedway or Talladega though I have no hopes about those ovals been added.

Years ago when I got my first wheel I used to play a Nascar simulator the name of which I don't even remember. I remember it was great and far from easy. I remember doing 300+ laps in a single session. In GT5p I'm having fun time racing and slipstreaming on the oval track. I'm really looking forward to NASCAR in gt5 as long as they can reproduce the sound and the handling of those cars.

The ESPN coverage doesn't do justice for the experience. I've never been to a NASCAR race, but I found this video. Boy it's awesome!

The sound!  :scared:

Yes, they do sound way too good.

If you have speakers with good bass, turn it up and listen to this clip Strittan posted. That rumble before the cars show up is SO MUCH more pronounced at the restrictor plate tracks in person. You feel the pack coming just as clearly as you hear them. It's enough to make me shed a tear. Walking near the catch fence, you don't know if you want to run, stand back or just get right up to it and be as close as possible. It's so great to feel the wind and most of all smell the fuel, because believe me, these cars smell SO GOOD after they pass by, it's just intoxicating. I'd bottle that smell in a cologne and it would sell like hotcakes to motorsport fans.

But anyways, now that I've gotten GT5p/Ps3. I really think Nascar will be so much fun. I can't wait to take a crack at 'em. I hope they make the bumps in the turns at Daytona more pronounced. I can only imagine the online racing for Nascar. Provided people don't just start pile ups for no reason, it will be loads of fun. Especially given what PD can do with GT. I hope we can lean on each other through turns, bump draft, race three wide for laps at a time. I mean, I don't know any other racing where that happens on a regularly. It would be so much fun to set up strategies with other online opponents. Two or three people get nose to tail at Daytona and start moving towards the front, talking it over with microphones. I bet it would even come down to last 1,500ft scrambles to block, and snake on by people at the restrictor plate track(s). There is just so much fun that comes with Nascar because the racing is so close.

You put that nicely.

I went to both Cup Bristol races this year. In the fall race in sat in row 11 off turn 4. Every start/restart, the cars would roar by somewhat loudly. When they got to the other side away from me, all I could hear was a LOUD ringing noise. :dunce:

I enjoyed it.
