Great to have Nascar in GT5!
We don't have the chance to follow it much here in Africa, but all motorsports enthusiasts know what it is, and it will add another dimension to GT5.👍

By the way i read somewhere that the oval track with the most "tilt angle" is Talladega raceway or something - could someone tell me if i'm correct?

I believe it is now. Bristol used to have the distinction of having 36 degree banking, but it was flattened to 30 degrees when it got repaved.

Also, from a longtime NASCAR and Gran Turismo fan, I am so glad to have Polyphony representing NASCAR. Good riddance to EA.

Talladega Banking, which is almost identical to daytona's

Let me tell you guys something

The feeling of driving through a 34 degree banked turn is something else. I haven'[t done it in real life, but I have been in a full size NASCAR simulator with a full size stock car on hydraulics to simulate the banking. You should have seen the smile on my face. I kept saying "I see why they love it so much I see why!"

Sadly, in the game when you go into the banking you dont feel anything, the bumps or the tilt. Both of those add SO MUCH to the experience.

EA has not been forced to make a good NASCAR game. I bought Thunder '04 recently and while I'm not totally happy with the control, overall its good game.

I wanted to drive the COT but so many complaints about the last few releases prompt me to default to one of the last good games.

The one thing I never liked about NASCAR is its culture and its contrived way of controlling outcomes of events. That's what made it Cartoon-ish and WWE like with all the mysterious debris cautions and .2 of a mph over the pit road speed limiter.

Otherwise I am a motorsports FAN first and foremost.

I welcome NASCAR into the game, I'm not quite sure about its obsessive fan base however, but I mentioned that before - :)

Well I have never been a fan of Nascar, but I am taking a trip down to New Hampshire next week to see the race there, so maybe that will change my opinion of the sport, only time will tell.

Hey not sure about talledega but I worked with a construction that built the chicagoland raceway and its 18 degrees. And that felt steep!I can just imagine 30 plus

I never was at a real race, but im sure it will change your opinion.
A NASCAR race is like a festival of cars with a REALLY awesome sound.

It sure would be nice to FINALLY get a decent NASCAR game. EA some how would always dork it up. I just don't think EA has the passion PD has for motor sports and thats what makes me believe we are all in for a treat, especially if your a NASCAR fan. I am aware the its not a "complete" NASCAR game but I'm sure they'll take EA to school on this one:tup:

Well do share your thoughts on seeing a race that came down to less than a tenth of a second after 300 laps.

With a car in the middle of the track might I add. Sure made me want to reach for a bottle of tums.

The ESPN coverage doesn't do justice for the experience. I've never been to a NASCAR race, but I found this video. Boy it's awesome!

The sound!  :scared:

LOL Damn that look's like fun....love love love that sound..

holy....

Well I went to the New Hampshire race on the weekend hoping that it would change my mind about the sport. Well it didn't, the sounds were amazing but the racing itself I found was quite boring, especially when it got to 200/300 laps, I just couldn't wait for it to be over.

It really was just going around and around, especially since there weren't very many cautions. I just couldn't get into, it may have been since I wasn't really cheering for anybody since I'm not a fan of it, and know nothing about it.

So I'll guess I'll see what happens when GT5 comes out but I doubt it now.

Haha, well, of course everyone can't like NASCAR. It's all about what intrests each individual. I for example would most likely be as bored at an F1 race as you were at a NASCAR race.

I got to ride in Kyle Buschs Camry a few weeks ago. I'm still not a fan of oval racing in any form, but I do have a better application for the thrill of driving a NASCAR

Add improved GT5 crash physics (cars spin out much easier and dont just slide when hit now but spin in the correct direction), rollover and advanced damage to stock cars (NASCAR) and there should be some pretty impressive crashes offline and online which will only make NASCAR online that much more popular

From GT5P, this Audi R8 just wants to start flipping but is held down by GT5P's gravity. Starts at 1:00 with incar view then shows outside replay. This would have been much much worst if it happened with GT5's physics.

Maybe in GT5 it will look like this

I actually find the New Hampshire race to be quite boring as well. I'm more for the super short tracks like Bristol and Richmond, road coarses, etc. Tracks like Michigan, California, New Hampshire don't hold my interest for long.:indiff:

Or like this. 👍

I've been to Talladega, Daytona, Bristol, Darlington and Atlanta. All of them are great races with great crowds. You really have to go to the "southern" tracks to get a real feel for NASCAR because of the atmosphere.

One of the many problems I have with NASCAR as an organization (been a fan all my life) is how mainstream they have tried to make the sport. NASCAR pulled themselves from a number of tracks which were historically an important piece of NASCAR history and started racing at Las Vegas? Kansas? Michigan?

Part of what makes NASCAR is it's history and NASCAR sometimes abandons that history in place of making a couple extra dollars. I don't fault them for running a wildly successful business but I think tracks like New Hampshire and the ones I listed above don't give first time racing fans a good idea of what a traditional NASCAR race is really like.

How did I forget that considering it happened 2 days ago. If the GT5 rollover can be anything like that just wow.

Maybe PD implemented rollover mainly because of NASCAR. Afterall, how many racing series in the world have their cars flip over as often? I just know PD is going to use a commercial showing some big NASCAR crash in GT5 for North America.

Going to New Hampshire and expecting a great race is like going to watch a F1 race at the Hungaroring and expecting to get your socks blown off

If they have the full NASCAR license, shouldn't they include the Nationwide and Truck series cars? At the worst I would like to see them added on with DLC

Also, doesn't NASCAR own Grand Am now? I hope we see DPs and the vast variety of GT cars Grand Am has

Also, I would like to see the NASCAR championship at least use the real NASCAR points system, and not 10-8-6 etc

This is very exciting

I would hope. It's not that hard to say "Oh by the way. Since you guys also have these awesome Prototype cars, do you think we could license the series?"

There might be some complications though as a few of the DP's have Porsche motors and are clearly called Porsche cars.

NASCAR guys rarely flip compared to the number of laps and cars that run that number of laps, but with the quality of racers that will be sure to play NASCAR in GT5 it is imperative to get rollover physics correct.

After watching Logano roll over and over it seems like modeling the underside of the NASCAR's should be the easiset thing they have to model. There is nothing there! It will be epic for sure.

Not exactly. Kaz could easily approach Crawford, Riley Technologies, Fabcar, Dallara, Lola and Coyote and Multmatic (assuming they are still around along with Picchio) and can easily model the cars. Sure, you have "Porsche" on the engine covers of some as well as Porsche power, but I doubt the permission to use the registered trademarks and logos as well as recording engine noise would be a problem.

I was hoping for more information about the inclusion of NASCAR during TGS. I'm still curious as what will be included in the game:
Will it be the full season?
How many cars will there be on track?
What NASCAR tracks are included?
Will all 43+ cars be included in the game? (Specifically the #42 car - JPM fan here ;) )
Will there be cautions, green & white checkers, bonus points for leading a lap and other NASCAR rules?
What adjustments can you do to the car?
Will it be possible to just select the 2 rightside tyres rather than all 4?
Will qualifying be limited to just 3 laps?
Will there be double file rolling starts?

So many questions...

I remember reading an interview somewhere that Kaz confirmed both WRC and NASCAR as full championships. So its likely (except for the 43 car fields) that all these could be included. GT4 already had a kind of black flag when you made contact with another car and you had to serve a drive-thru Penalty so I imagine the flags would be a evolution from that.

It'd be sweet to catch a glimpse of what GT5 will do with rollover... maybe a NASCAR teaser trailer.... would be sweet! I say!
