NASCAR in GT5!

Some changes are being made in the next couple of years. Some things I have heard mentioned are Fuel injection and up sizing to 17" wheels.

I doubt NASCAR will go to fuel injection because of the way they use restrictor plates on the carburetors to slow speeds at Daytona and Talladega.

NASCARS are pretty crude and old fasioned mechanicly compared to almost all other modern motorsports(classic car races obviously not included)-Pushrod engines with carbourettors and four speed gearboxes-FOUR!!!!!! Some cars have twice that these days.

And 20 lug nuts. 20!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It's all to keep the cost down.
It is low (multi millions) budget racing compared to some series.

And they still go 200+ mph. :)

I do hope the Bristol Speedway is on GT5

Yah, PD should at least include tracks like these that define NASCAR today. PD should at least put these 8 tracks in GT5.

Daytona (confirmed)
Indy (confirmed)
Infineon (was in GT4)
Las Vegas
Bristol
Lowes Motor Speedway
Michigan
Watkins Glen

I only ever played 1 nascar game and that was i think many many years ago and it was rubbish. typical of ea!

Anyways all the people who are into the nascar franchise that EA done. will be migrating to gt5. Smart business move considering its the states biggest motorsport.

Will be good to see it, im sure they will have the flags, and safety cars etc.

:yuck: I think 2 Nascar tracks is enough, there mostly just ovals so why would you need more than 2 or even 1.

Do some research, all those tracks are unique(although Las Vegas is rather similar to Charlotte(Formerly Lowe's)). Based on what you said, why have 30 road courses, they're all the same so why would you need more than 2, or even 1.

As Justin said no two ovals are the same.

Almost every NASCAR oval has a road course built inside so NASCAR tracks offer the best value as you get two tracks in one.

Daytona has the oval and the 24 hour road course, Indianapolis has the oval and the F1 and MotoGP circuits built inside.

Also, you should be upset about rally tracks not ovals. At least with ovals 100% of the cars in GT5 can race them while 5% or less of GT5 cars can race on the rally tracks.

We need at least two more ovals, and if I could pick I would pick Bristol and Lowe's Motorspeedway.

Watkins Glen makes sense as its a track on NASCAR and the IRL' schedule and it has two different layouts

I will like any track we get, but we need a short track.
The thought of the Daytona 500 being a month or two its release seems pretty coincidental consdering all of PD's talk about wanting to appeal to the US audience.

That sentence is awfully wrong.

The vast major of GT4 y GT PSP cars can wear off-road wheels and are drivable in dirt.

Carbed, push rod V8's that rev to 9,500+ RPM :D! And spend the majority of the lap wound that high for 500 miles. :D!!! Pretty cool for what they are.

That sentence is awfully wrong.

The vast majority of cars in GT4 and GTPSP can be fitted with off-road tires and are drivable in dirt.

So, you'd rather equip an SLS with some knobbly dirt tires and take it down a trail? Are rovals and oval tracks really that bad? Some cars just don't belong in the dirt, that however is my opinion. I'd just rather take them on a paved circuit.

Plus it used to hold the US Grand Prix and, in my opinion, would still make an excellent F1 circuit today.

It needs to be updated severely to meet new age FIA safety standards, especially with run-off, which is non-existent at the Glen. I would absolutely love if F1 came back to the Glen.

Pretty sure it was announced a little while back it's getting a complete overhaul.

As Justin said no two ovals are the same.

Almost every NASCAR oval has a boring, camberless gokart course built inside so NASCAR tracks offer the best value as you get two tracks in one.

Fixed that for ya. I used to think americans just had no concept of driving, due to all the long straight highways and that would have explained sports like Nascar but then you look at classic tracks like Infineon and Laguna Seca and you realise - they do know how to do it properly it's just, for some reason, Nascar chooses not to.

So far I've tried two of their "infield" tracks in GT and, despite daytona being a marginally better layout, they're still flat, camberless with huge sweeping banked corners that are really just straight lines in disguise. Sorry but those things just don't count as road courses in my book. They're cheap, nasty kiddies gokart courses.

Not a HUGE Nascar fan, but you have to respect someone who will / can drive a 2 ton, 900hp beast on a road course (whatever you approve of as a road course).

What exactly do you expect in an infield?

They can't tear it up and make it as good as standalone road courses since that would take away from the functionality. The designers of the road courses do a good job with the limits they have around them.

They're called 'rovals.' And as someone who's actually driven Sebring, St. Petersburg street circuit & the Daytona road course, I can assure you that Daytona is a LOT of fun to race on.

I don't expect anything different. I made the point to counter Earths idea about filling the game with Ovals on the strength of the infield being a whole different track. Whole different boring track IMO.

And I admit - driving a Nascar round even just an oval at the speeds they do would be a total rush but, unfortunately for me, I don't get that same rush from a video game. The - not being able to die - factor kinda wrecks it for me. On a "proper" (and again this is only my definition of proper) road track I have lots of stuff to concentrate on. There's no fear factor or adrenaline rush to speak of it's more a kind of intellectual exercise which tracks like Laguna or Nordschleife and even the GT homebrews like Grand Valley and Trial Mountain seem to satisfy more than ovals or ovals plus infields. The two I've driven so far anyway.

All the xenophobia in this thread is astounding.

Just because good old USA is better than you worthless european nations doesn't mean you gotta hate us.

Why don't you europeans come over here for a little while? Because, you know, we have things like attractive women, good food, and actual roads.

This post makes me wonder if you've ever spent a day outside of your own country. Grow up, stop making your own nation look arrogant and ill-informed, and, preferably, just go away.

You do realize I did that partially just to see the drama it would cause?

Oh, and I'm taking all honors in high school next year, plan on learning Japanese, German, French, and Italian. Oh, and I'm planning on being a world-renowned author.

Oh, and I'm not even going to quote the 50-plus science books I've read. And I made the A-B Honor roll in my school.

I got nothing against America. Other than your complete misunderstanding of the words "foot" and "ball" you seem like a pretty cool bunch. I just think Nascar is a bit retarded. I also happen to think the british concept of x-factor and strictly come dancing being the most entertaining thing in the universe is retarded and I come from Britain. It's not racism it's race-ism :D

Protip: world class authors tend not to start three consecutive sentences with "Oh,"

Protip the second: Saying something "just to see the drama it would cause" is known as "trolling"

Hey, I used to hate NASCAR too, my favorite race types used to be WRC, F1, and FIA GT. :D

And I posted that just to see the drama it would cause.
