My bad. Why are you in a NASCAR thread? Satisfied?

The wait is killing me. We should have had this game in 2 days.

Yup, should've, could've, would've... darnit...

So, I can't wait to try out all the racing in GT5. I've been a fan of NASCAR in the past, and I'm sure I'll enjoy driving the cars. I saw some screenshots somewhere of the Cup cars going down a street, looked like it was on the Rome course. That will be pretty cool, to take Cup cars out on more road courses. I really think they need to start putting more road courses in the schedule for the regular season instead of just going a couple of three times... or four, I can't remember, Sonoma and Watkins Glen are the only road courses, I don't remember if they go once or twice a year... I'm also looking forward to the WRC racing! Be fun to bounce around off-road. :) There should be a drag racing mode, wasn't there drag racing in Forza 3, I don't think I ever got around to that series in the career mode. Anyway, hopefully there will be some good race leagues start up based on the NASCAR cars, and hopefully other cars too. I'm so stoked I can't wait for this game to come out... I think I'm going to hyperventilate so I'm just going to go breathe in a paper bag now. See ya!

Some of the NASCAR haters may, should and will change their mind once they get a run at it. Remember they said it will have all specs rules; so I can only think of the hell that will be going on.

Hey guys, maybe this is a bit off topic right now, but is there any evidence of th Dodge Charger being in the game (the stock car, obviously)?
I mean, we've seen photos and videos of GT5's NASCAR racing, but all we've seen have been Impalas, Fusions and Camrys.
It would be strange if the Charger didn't make into the game since Dodge is actually included. Could it be some kind of license problem? No Dodge team giving permission to PD to represent their car in the game?

It's a team licensing issue. PD has licensed Dodge, but to put a Dodge racing team, like Penske, into GT5 would also require the licensing of Penske themselves. So if no Dodges show up in NASCAR, it's simply the teams fault for not signing on. (Possibly due to the new NASCAR game coming out)

Well that's a shame :( Having Dodge would make the pack a bit more varied. And it doesn't seem to be a smart move for those Dodge teams. It's obvious that NASCAR is a pretty specific market, but their presence in GT5 would possibly mean some extra publicity which they probably won't get with the NASCAR game, which is hardly going to be purchased by non-NASCAR fans.
Anyway, GT5 is going to be a superb game, all we need now is a release date, and an extra dose of patience :)

There's still a possibility that Dodge will be in because we haven't seen all the NASCAR cars in GT5 yet.

There should be enough, but in the case that there weren't, it would be quite stupid to see, for example, two Jeff Gordon cars, or two Kyle Busch cars.
Anyway, as Sam48 said, we could still have a good surprise and find out that the Charger is included.
By the way, we haven't seen many Ford drivers either, right now i can only think of Carl Edwards. But since he is a Roush driver, this may be a hint that Kenseth, Biffle and Ragan are also included.

I went to the GT Planet Master Car list form and I counted 12 cars. There should be a few cars that look the same in a 16 car field but with the livery editor will see people own style. Though I have a funny feeling we won’t be able to change the color or body print on the based cars already listed. But on the other hand the black Game Stop car might be another matter; we’ll just have to wait and see.

The Charger better be added. Nice one Sam48.

So why don't we give the NASCAR trailer another view and start counting every single car we can see? Here is my list, let's see if anyone can add more cars:
-Chevrolet:
Jimmie Johnson
Jeff Gordon
Dale Earnhardt Jr
Tony Stewart
Juan Montoya
-Toyota:
Brian Vickers
Kyle Busch
Denny Hamlin
Nº55 (is it still Michael Waltrip?)
Joey Logano
-Ford
Carl Edwards

What I have noticed is that in earlier trailers showing NASCAR racing, there were cars with the same paint scheme than real ones but in different colors. For example, I saw a yellow nº24 Chevy and a white nº55 Toyota.

Me personally, it would be good to have more cars in, but at the same time if we had more oval tracks, then I wouldnt mind. What I want know is, whether we can make a track layout for example, Martinsville through the track editor in the game. Or am I being too greedy. :sly:

It'd be great to have more oval tracks, especially considering that the only confirmed NASCAR tracks are superspeedways (Daytona and Indy) and very probably a road course (Infineon). It'd be nice to have speedways like Lowe's, Atlanta or Texas and short tracks like M'ville or Bristol. Road courses won't be a problem since we'll be able to race with stock cars in every single circuit.
As for the track editor, we'll have to see. Maybe it'll be possible to make something close to M'ville, but who knows...I think this whole NASCAR part of the game is one of the features PD wants to keep more secretly untill the game comes out, so I think we can expect NASCAR-related surprises once we are able to start playing :)

Personally I believe there will be enough different NASCAR cars from the same year to at least fill a 16 cars grid.

How will they do it with online racing? If I join an online event with my #24 car that I won in GT life and three other people also selected this car. I think it will be a field of a lot of the same cars in one race. Same counts for all the other races if you ask me.

This dawned on my yesterday and made me think. so at Daytona are we gonna have re-stricter plates? are we able to control if they are on or off? will be be able to do a Daytona race without a re-stricter plate? just one little detail brings up a bunch of questions. id love to be able to affect re-stricter plates on any track

I think we were all refering to GT mode or Arcade mode, where it would be a bit silly to have repeated cars in races involving a real-life licensed series like NASCAR. Obviously, online racing is a different world, and logic says that if I'm a Jimmie Johnson fan, and possess the nº48 Chevy, I'll be picking it instead of any other car, regardless of whatever car the other players choose. So, in online racing, the most popular racers' (like JJ, Gordon, Dale Jr, Busch) cars will be more extensively used than, for example, Vickers'.

Here's the full confirmed NASCAR driver/car list. (NOTE: I did not include PD liverys such as the fictional color schemes as seen in the E3 09 GT5 Trailer)

Well, we've been told that NASCAR rules are going to be present, such as yellow flags, Safety cars?, etc.
So, it wouldn't be crazy to think that we're going to be forced to use restrictor plates at Daytona, although personally, I'd prefer it to be an option. For example, in GT mode's NASCAR events, it should be present in order to be realistic, but it should be able to be disabled in online custom lobbies, and even in arcade mode.

Nice work Sam :D
I saw Allmendinger's car in a video, but wasn't able to tell it was his car lol.
By the way, do you think the old version of the cars, the one with the rear wing, will be kept, or will we only be able to play with the current car (the one with the spoiler)?
I think we'll have to settle with the latter, but who knows...

Thanks. Anyway, I don't see why PD would scrap all the 08' and 09' cars as it takes a lot of time and money to produce them in the first place. I suspect when we start a NASCAR season in GT5 career mode, we might progress through the years so as to show of all the cars. Just a thought though.

Yeah, it would be kind of stupid after all the effort to just get rid of those older cars/schemes.
Your idea sounds fine and fun, and, in my opinion, it would be lovely supplemented with the presence of NASCAR classics from the 60's, 70's, 80's, 90's and early 2000's. Anyway, this is very unlikely.

I had seen that my self as well; looks like we’ll be able to change the color but not the print scheme for NASCAR.

Stupid type of racing. Left turn, what's next? Left tuuurn.

well I agree in a way but in one way, NASCAR is better than almost any motorsport especially F1. What way? the competition is so even. The cars are nearly identical & the racing is all slipstreams, it's much harder to get into a lead & stay there. F1 is kind of rediculous for the same reason it's great. The technology in those cars make them the most incredible cars on earth but if one team finds a better recipe than the rest it'll win a driver the championship. Alonso in '05 & '06 plus this year maybe. I just hate it when a driver who is average at best like Alonso can win championships. Also, Webber is good but if he wins it won't be because he's the best & that's one way NASCAR is better & it's also the supposed reason Juan Pablo Montoya left F1
