I can't Fridays either, unless they're after 11pm GMT. So I think keeping it on Saturday is the best.

Got over things now after reading the recent posts. Sorry for the venting. Any chance of making it later on saturdays???

At our current race every other week pace, we won't finish up until Oct 15th. Is there any way we could race every Saturday so we could wrap this up around mid-July?

I'm also going to suggest plugging in a 50 lap race at High Speed Ring in place of one of the non-Chase Daytona races (weeks 3, 7, 10) for a little more variety and a little less Daytona hostility.

On reccomendation from people, and after I have looked at things:
~R14 Suzuka East is extended to 30 laps
~The All Star has been removed.
~R3 Daytona has been shortened from 50 to 30 laps
~R7 at Daytona has been replaced by Indianapolis
~R5 at Indianapolis has been replaced by 30 laps of the High Speed Ring

Also I may remove the Chase. What you guys think?

@MustangRyan RE Schedule - Well my TOCA series I'm alternating with is only 10 events, and I may be able to shift that later on.

I actually really liked having one Daytona race at exactly 50 laps, as it's the absolute limit of a zero stop strategy for our power-limited cars. Could someone get their tires to last 50 laps without pitting? Could someone run a one stop strategy and run down a car that's trying to go without pitting? I think it would make for a GREAT race on pit strategy alone. In fact, I wouldn't do a single race at Indy or Daytona Oval that was less than 40 laps. Anything less is just too short. The laps just fly by at the oval tracks. We don't have to do 100 laps every time, but we should aim for at least 50-75 laps most of the time, with a couple 40 lap sprints mixed in for variety.

I would extend Daytona Road and Indy Road from 20 laps each to 30 laps each, just so the races aren't too short. One little mistake, and you might not have enough time to make up ground on the leaders.

By that same logic, I would extend High Speed Ring to 45 laps. It's a fairly simple road course, and the lap times will be pretty quick, compared to a track like Laguna Seca.

I think doing away with the All-Star race is fine.

I would keep the Chase format. Having the Chase will allow new drivers to join later on in our regular season, yet still gives them a chance to qualify for the Chase and compete for the Championship. New drivers might be discouraged about joining a league where they are already trailing the points leader by 22 points without any hope for a late-season point reset.

I would also put your other prestige event, the Brickyard 200, in the Chase.

If I could make the schedule myself, here's how I would do it:

NC - Daytona Superspeedway - GTP Shootout (20 Laps) ~RACED~
01 - GTP Daytona 250 @ Daytona Superspeedway (100 laps) ~RACED~

02 - Indianapolis Superspeedway (50 laps)
03 - Monza - No Chicanes (40 laps)
04 - Daytona Superspeedway (50 Laps)
05 - Laguna Seca Raceway (25 Laps)
06 - Indianapolis Superspeedway (40 Laps)
07 - Daytona Road Course (30 Laps)
08 - Daytona Superspeedway (60 laps)
09 - Indianapolis Road Course (30 Laps)
10 - Indianapolis Superspeedway (60 Laps)

-------BEGIN CHASE-------

11 - High Speed Ring (45 Laps) A much more forgiving road course than Laguna Seca, especially as the lead-off event in the Chase.
12 - Daytona Superspeedway (40 laps)
13 - GTP Brickyard 200 - (80 Laps). Our 50% version of the Brickyard 400
14 - Suzuka East (40 laps)
15 - Daytona Superspeedway (75 laps)

This schedule has a good variety of tracks, distances, and never runs the same race track more than once in any consecutive three week period (except for the GTP Shootout and Daytona 250 in the first two weeks) and also never has two consecutive weeks with a road course.

For all the tracks, here are the distances we cover, in laps:

Daytona Oval - 100, 50, 60, 40, 75
Indy Oval - 50, 40, 60, 80
Daytona Road - 30
Indy Road - 30
High Speed Ring - 45
Monza (no chicanes) - 40
Laguna Seca - 25
Suzuka East - 40

good schedule. I would like a 8 man chase with a twist; the 4 people out of the chase would have to win 3 races out of the 10 to actually get in, and race hard to get to the top. I still think that we can increase the hp for some races, up to 532hp. just a thought.

I like the schedule that Ryan laid out, but I'll be happy either way as long as we can keep a decent amount of people showing up. For the 50 lap Daytona, I'd say drop it to about 44-45 laps. Because of the extra speeds in the draft, you wouldn't be able to last 50 laps on fuel or tyres, and the people that pit and using the draft would easily catch and overtake them. And I think the 502hp is good and should be fine for all the courses. Also if there's any way we could get this series going every week, that would be great.

I think that 50 laps might actually be possible on tires. The tires would be in pretty poor shape at the very end of the race, but it would be really interesting to see which pit strategy would prevail.

Is it faster to stay out or to pit once for tires? If you do pit, do you pit at the halfway point, or pit early to get away from the other drivers, or do you pit late to try to get the extra bonus point for leading the most laps?

I think any of those strategies could win, and I would love to see how it played out. A fifty lap race at Daytona could be the most exciting race of the season.

Calendar altered... with the removal of one Daytona race, and lap adjustments to Monza and High Speed Ring. Also I think that season finale should be 50 laps. Agreed there.

Also the chase may be removed, as it'll give everyone a chance. No-one is going to enter if they have nothing to race for.

That Calender works for me, I'm not picky. With the chase, if we keep it or kill it, it probably won't have too much effect either way. If I had to choose, I'd say keep it.

Wow, so Suzuka East as second to last race and 50 on Daytona as the last.:)

That is two races which can be won by doing something at the right time in the right place.:D
I like it.:)

Won't be able to till tomorrow, but has there been any time testing for Indy this weekend?

What times we hitting with the Restrictor Plates on?

I have not yet tested for this week, but I am 100% certain that you will have to pit for tires, and probably for a splash of fuel. Tire wear at Indy really depends on your setup and driving style through the corners. The best way to figure out your own pit strategy is going to be to practice, and see how hard you are on your tires.

I'll be interested. I'm in for this Saturday.

#24 Jeff Gordon DuPont Impala.

EDIT: NVM. Really should have been 16 slots.

Not sure I'll be able to make it this week as think I am out.

Sorry guys and good racing (keep it clean eh!)
