Petty was very against having a alcholic sponser in the first place, but with the combo of Kayne and Bud his hands where tied.

Disappointed with the kit they gave Kayne. His brakes failed twice, maybe more. Thats unheard of. Im not a massive fan of his but I was happy that he got out of the car and said he'd had enough.

Anywho, JG's car looks to me like a 5 minute job. Something you'd still find tucked up in NASCAR 09! This season will be good if McMurray is more consistent and Edwards finds his stride ASAP.

Edit: Apparently, and I've just found this out, Jimmie Johnson will not be allowed to use a spoiler this year. :dopey:

Cale will also only be allowed to pick S&P's for the first half of the season.:P

So Budweiser have left RPM, I take it due to the #9 getting axed as they downsize to the 43 for Allmendinger and another car for Ambrose. I hope Ambrose does well this year, and I reckon that he could be at least in the top 20.

Allmendinger is in the 43 with Best Buy sponsorship and Ambrose is in the #9 with Stanley/DeWalt coming from the 19.

Hard to say how they will perform, I think it will depend on how put together the new owners are.

I agree, looks more like a place holder than an actual scheme. Although it may just be that I'm so used to his older schemes.

I don't see McMurray amounting to much, there is normally always one driver who has a great season, misses the chase than falls off the map the next year.

I can see Edwards maybe running for the championship, Roush really got their performance sorted out towards the end of last year.

Side-Note: Hard to believe it's already been 10 years since Earnhardt passed. I would assume there will be something planned during the pre-race.

I can't wait for the New Season to Start , thankfully I have a friend who gets me the Races 2 or 3 Days after they've been run .

Even better he cuts out all the Adverts 👍

10 Years Since we Lost Dale , still feels like a raw wound and only last week too me .

Hopefully they'll be some kind of tribute to him at the Race Weekend .

I think after being so used to Gordon's old paint schemes, this would naturally come off not being as elaborate. I like it though, its a major change to get used to but its not bad.

I still remember Jeff Gordon rocking the old DuPont rainbow colors like when I got into watching racing back in 1998 (and especially in 1999). A car like that is something my buddy RACECAR might come up with. That's a cool-looking ride, and I too love the red.

Maybe the thing that concerns me this season is that this February will mark 10 years since Dale Earnhardt Sr.'s death at Daytona on the final lap. It was also the debut of NASCAR on FOX, which has done NASCAR masterfully (to me).

Well I WAS looking forward to the new season until they took NASCAR and put it on a channel I have to pay for

Normally, I would be opening the cashcard and paying but this is the old Setanta channel......

Oh dear......

On the subject of Gordon's car, I absolutely hate it from a design perspective, it's not unique, won't stick out on track (You'll never be able to see it in a pack), nothing flows correctly and the "swooshes" make it seem like the car should go backwards.

Also graidents should always go down to atleast the top of the quarterpanel, it looks like the designer couldn't make something interesting for the hood so he just did the gradient (that doesn't line up at all with the rest of the car) to give it some "flare" :ouch:

I will never, ever own a piece of merchandise with this car on it, or anything to do with AARP, if the new hats have it sown on the side I'll take it off! :P

Who designed that logo anyway? Knowing it's only going to be shown on the car, wouldn't you make something that fits a little better? it's too small and leaves way too much hood open, biggest contributing factor to that awful graidient.

From,
Chris.

Well, you and I can always whip out the shop and show them how its done ;)

*Rubs his hands ready for new season*

I think the new paint scheme for Jeff Gordon isnt that bad at all.

As for the season, I think this is going to be the most competitive season, drivers moving around and crew chiefs aswell. I've just got a sneaky feeling that Carl Edwards going to have another run at the title, we all know give him the car and he'll deliver. Three other drivers I'll be keeping an eye out for will be, Brad Keselowski, Joey Logano and AJ Allmendinger. I feel these three have got a good chance of winning a race, or maybe even making the chase.

Booked my plane tickets for Jacksonville this week for the 500 in February. 👍

Gordon's new car looks good, just not as flashy or eye catching as his Dupont ride.

If Edwards & Harvick can pick up where they ended 2010 they will be tough to beat in 2011.

I'm not sure if AJ Allmendinger is ready for a championship run, but after last year it would not suprise me to see him in victory lane.

I don't believe Ambrose had good enough equipment last year to pose much of a threat last year. Hopefully Petty gives him better stuff.

While we pass the time unti9l the season begins:

*Language Warning*

We got a package from the Daytona speedway today. They gave us a piece of the old surface they tore up.

Ahh I want a piece!!!

A friend of the family has a quarter dump truck load and is not interested in parting with any.

We were shocked they gave us a chunk. I knew they were selling them though.

I don't think it's as big as the pieces they are selling, but it's got the Daytona medallion on it and a certificate of authenticity.

hearing that Milka Duno is getting an ARCA test this month. It's only a matter of time before she brings her moving chicane talents to NASCAR. :yuck:

NASCAR actually has standards so I doubt she would get into a NASCAR race, ARCA on the other hand will let anyone race.

Hopefully IRL steps in and keeps her out of that series this year.

I'm hoping someone(many) driver(s) can step up and challenge Johnson this year and beat him.

Seriously, why the hell is she even still driving? All she has even been is a moving road block.

Because she has "Marketing Appeal" to the Female Auidence .

She's bloody useless in Nascar though , all that Coverage for her Debut Race Last Season ,I thought i'd tuned into the Dannica Patrick Show :grumpy:

Wasn't Last Season the first time EVER that there was no Debuts by a Rookie in the one of the Main NASCAR Series ?

I know the Sponsors wan't a Name for the Product , but flipping hell where is the Younger Get Go Drivers going to get a chance to rise up in the Series so they can Eventually get a Cup Car at some point .

It sucks seeing so Many Cup Car Drivers racing in the Nationwide Series 👎

Drivers have to pick which championship they are running for starting this year. It won't stop them from racing in the other series, but they won't score driver points. It should encourage owners to put young drivers into the cars instead of the Cup drivers.

All 3 series had rookie debuts that I can think of.

I'm definitely in favor of this rule. The Nationwide championship should go to a Nationwide driver, and not Carl Edwards or Kyle Busch (unless of course they choose not to score Cup series points).

Very much needed rule. If any of them decide to go for a lower championship it wouldn't make their Cup owners/sponsors very happy.

Really hoping Roush Racing's resurgence at the end of last season carries over, as well as the performance of Hamlin. I don't see the Kahne to Red Bull move for this year being very prosperous as the Red Bull equipment is average-good at best and nowhere near the big 4 teams in the series.

I could have sworn thats what Danica Patrick had, who by far finishes better then Milk & Donuts.

Fixed for truth

About time NASCAR got through their thick skulls. Now we actually have Nationwide series drivers win the championship instead of a Cup driver who can barely do anything in Cup.

I think Kahne will have a better than expected season, in his few races there last year he had some good finishes as well as a pole.

Did NASCAR actually put this rule into action?

If so... :dopey:

Yup.

Drivers must choose which series to run for championship: Drivers in NASCAR's three national series will have to elect a single championship to chase in 2011, eliminating the ability of drivers such as Brad Keselowski, Carl Edwards and Paul Menard -- who were full-time double-dippers in 2010 -- to chase two championships at once. NASCAR has scheduled a "competition update" on Jan. 21 with NASCAR president Mike Helton and vice president for competition Robin Pemberton as part of the "Preseason Thunder" Sprint Cup test session at Daytona International Speedway. NASCAR spokesman Kerry Tharp declined to comment on the change in 2011 license applications Monday except to say, "I'm sure we can answer all your questions at our competition update." But when Kenny Wallace picked up his 2011 NASCAR competition, membership and license application last Saturday while taking a break from a Grand-Am Rolex Series test at Daytona, he knew at least one rumor was true. Wallace stopped on his way to the U.S. Post Office on Monday to tear open his license application and read the news. "The brand-new license forms that are out, there's a box and in it, it states that you have to mark -- put an X -- what championship you're running for," Wallace said, quoting his application. "A driver will only be permitted to earn driver championship points in one (1) of the following three series: NASCAR Sprint Cup, NASCAR Nationwide or NASCAR Camping World Truck Series. Please select the series in which you would like to accumulate driver championship points. Choose one."(NASCAR.com)(1-11-2011)

Of all the drivers that substituted for Brian Vickers, Kahne did the best job overall. If anything, he pretty much managed to be as close to Vicker's pace so I think he'll really have a solid year.
