Jimmy Johnson has to be my favorite. The way he and his team get it done when it matters is most impressive to me. Fav. track would have to be Lowe's Motorspeedway only because while on business in Charlotte a few years ago, I actually got to take a lap aroud the track and go to Hendrick Motorsports and take a tour of the facilities.

You would not know this is practice, they are really getting down to business out here. Very cool to see Daytona racing like this, even though it does not seem wide enough.

Also, Barry, that's very cool, it must have been an awesome experience. As for Jim Jon, BOOOO!

Why so him and Carl can get their slap fight started early this year?

Edit: lol at Logano making it rain corn pops.

That was hilarious.

And no, so BK can win it.

Dude they better fix those, I need them to be on tomorrow night!!!

That was very crazy to see though.

There's practice going on for the Budweiser Shootout. It's a beautifully sunny day in northern Florida. Mark Martin's the top man right now on the charts.

Have you all any favorites to win the Bud Shootout?

Does anyone besides me hate the new Speed logo?

US Chrome car doesn't have chrome painted wheels or even chrome numbers? What a waste of sponsor promotion!!!

After scratching my head and my fuzzy chin, I've come up with a theory as to why the two-car draft works the way it does:

Obviously, we know the lead car breaks the air and the effect sucks the following car. I think the reason two cars can get such a huge getaway from the pack is because those two cars by themselves are the perfect aero combination. The drag is low and downforce created coupled with the pushing works to great effect whereas with the whole pack, the drag is increased and the hole in the air isn't as big enough for those other cars at the same time.

Dude, chill out. There is apparently some rule NASCAR has with reflective decals and there's probably a good chance chrome Numbers or decals violate it.

My take is similar to yours. I think the hole in the air that one car makes is about large enough to fit another car in behind it, but not large enough to add a third car. So with two cars the HP is doubled while the drag stays relatively the same. Once the 3rd car is added more drag is also added.

*Sorry the picture is so bad, I don't have a mouse for my laptop anymore.

I, too dislike the new Speed logo, RACECAR. It just looks so cheap. Later tonight is the Bud Shootout. All I know is- I want Jeff Gordon to win again. Perhaps even reel off a few more victories or even go on a winning streak. Good luck to all the drivers out there competing tonight in the Bud Shootout. ARCA's racing right now around Daytona. Big wreck involving multiple drivers including Milka Duno (who was not at fault at all).

As for the artwork (Post #3832)... you would draw stock cars better than I can. So fear not, mate.

Anyone else agree that the ARCA finish was.....boring? I can't believe the 17 didn't move.

I can't wait until tonight. Less than 2 hours!

ARCA finish was boring. Seems as though none of the drivers wanted to take a chance to win the race. Well, except for Lacata but no one went with him.

Agreed, ARCA race was unusually uneventful. Mostly I think due to everyone playing it way safe. Surprisingly, a few right rear tires going down. I think that's what causes three cautions its hard to hear over the PA here. The Shootout won't disappoint, unless its lots of two car races like practice mostly was. The cars still smell very great! Here hoping for awesomeness, and to start beating Cale now.

So I tune into Fox to watch the shootout, and MCR's Planetary Go is the first song I hear as they show the intro NASCAR clip. Coincidence, I think not.

Haha, I was just thinking that. Of all the songs they could have used, they choose that one.

Hey guys, obviously I'm a new member on here but I've been a Nascar fan since 1999. Really looking forward to the Shootout tonight. My favorite driver is Tony Stewart but I also root for Greg Biffle and Mark Martin as well cause they seem like real cool guys. Okay then, got my beers - let's go racing!
