Rain stops play, the result is declared after 152 laps.

Matt Kenseth wins, from Kevin Harvick, AJ Allmendinger, Clint Bowyer and Elliot Sadler.

Kenseth wins, rain coming in strong, but hey a guy I like won so yeah! :D *is digging it* Hope this drives Fusion sales up  :dopey: Randy

Congrats to Matt & Roush-Fenway on their first Daytona 500 victory.

I didn't expect Kenseth to win, he's never been great at plat tracks, he started last and was in a back-up car.

I'm done with cup now, there is just no way I'm gonna watch it ever again. I'm sticking to Nationwide and Trucks only as they actually provided exciting endings.

Hey I hear ya man I wont watch another till Bristol. What did everyone think of the FOX Superbowl type pre race hype. What with Digger having his own show & comic books, and the "lets go racing boys" song. :yuck: I think I am ashamed just having seen it. I guess thats what there left with now that they have no quality racing.

As I was watching it occured to me, if I were an ex-employee of one of the companys that have slashed jobs, closed down stores, having put so many familys security & homes at risk, causing them to lose there health insurance, I would not be impressed to see those $10 - $15 Mil stickers on the track. I am a fan of racing as much as anyone, but given the stress on these companys HOW can they justify such expenses as NASCAR. The cost to sponser a team is very high not to mention how many of those companys also sponser events and tracks and many other such non sense.

I'd rather see the race end with them flying across the finish line at 190 mph than seeing them in pit road under a red flag at 0 mph. 👎:guilty:

I'm not saying that jr. should have gotten into vickers that way, but with the run he had vickers really shut the door on him. Rained out 500....sucks, but would'nt be the first time by any means.

Did none of you guys see how those guys were racing when they first heard that rain would be coming?

They were running 3 wide, 5-7 rows deep bouncing off each other and the walls like it was the last lap, if rain hadn't shortened the race, it would've certainly topped the finishes of the Truck & Nationwide races.

Typical NSCS BS. Had it been menard sitting in 1st they would have waited a week to dry the track to let another of the big guys race. Now I remember why I'm moving more towards F1 than this. Call me a conspirasist but thats my belief

This just in - it stopped raining.

Nope, I would have done the same as Jr. There is no reason for a lead car to cut off a lapped car.

Jr. and Vickers were both lapped when that wreck started, Vickers was blocking Jr. so he could get the free pass or pass the leader to get his lap back.

Matt Kenseth won the 500, then? Not bad. Jr. had a really bad day and Kyle Busch was seriously unlucky.

I think Dale Jr was well out of order. He definitely turned Vickers. If they were at the back of the pack, you'd think "Meh", but to do it right at the front of the field was pretty unacceptable. Interesting race though, and I love the commentary trio: the best of the year in my opinion.

Vickers and little E. were both lapped cars. After thinking more about it ,that move was uncalled for by little E. . He was frustrated because he had to serve a 1 lap penalty for pitting outside the pit pit box , he was forcing the issue too much , trying to get his lap back.

Your acting like this never happened before. Both of Waltrip's wins were finished because of rain. And yet, why are you watching it again? Weren't you furious before? You know you'll be watching California next week.

I don't understand. People have to go to work the next day. Like Mike Joy said, the rain was going to last another hour and a half. They were not going to try to restart the race at 11-12 o'clock. Sorry. Total ligit move by Nascar.

That's what you get for watching that whole pre-race show. My dad and I watched the pre race show on Speed then turned off the tv did something else till 3:30. Kinda sick of them keep going on and on and on about Tony Stewart's move to team owner. Every year is the same thing, 2 and a half hours of things to fill in people who are new to nascar.

And the"let's go racing boys" song came out last year. Nothing new.

And "no quality racing"? Really? Now your just kidding yourself. I don't know if you watched any of the other races but I had my good fill of awesome racing, including the 500.

That was totally called for either ejection of the race or 5 lap penalty. Reckless. Like you said, if it was in the back of the pack and no one got involved then whatever, but man, Kyle Bush, Hamlin, Kurt Bush, Speed, McMurrey and even Edwards got a piece of that. Ridiculous call by Nascar.

And o yeah. I'm a Matt Kensethh fans since he won the Championship in '03. so. YYYYEEEEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHH...

I wasn't there for Waltrip's Daytona 500 win as I haven't even seen it. Also, they they'll restart last year's California race on monday but not the Daytona 500? See, they used to call off the race until the next day and run it then. Now they just cut them short instead, potentially messing up what may have been an exciting ending.

So your not going to give NSCS another chance becasue of something totally out of Nascar's power? :yuck:

Are you kidding I did'nt watch all that crap! But I did see enough to turn my stomach. No wonder the rest of the world thinks NASCAR is a redneck sport.:dopey:

And hey dude you can have NASCAR enjoy it .

Well, its been building for a while ever since the COT pretty much failed to do what they said it was gonna do. This just happens to be the last straw for me. We can't control mother nature true enough, but the fact that they could have continued it the next day like they have done other races previously, that WAS in thier hands.

It's been a rule for a long time now that when the race passes half, it's official. That why the drivers were driving like they really had 10 laps to go, but they were just trying to put their selves in position by halfway. I didn't like the COT's either when they came out, but you have to look at the side by side racing. They can slam into each other without destroying the cars. And when you tell a racer that if you hit that guy and won't mess up a good handling race car, guess what, they're going to do a lil bumping and banging.:scared: :). That's what makes the Truck series so good.

I've offered my views in regards to two key issues from this past weekend's Daytona 500. Here's a text version... why did Vickers attempt a block, and could Dale Jr. have slowed up and not try to force the issue? You can't fully put the blame on both of them, but if I had to choose, I'd go against Dale Jr. Also, Matt Kenseth won a rain-shortened race. Only thing sad about the ending was that the rain shortened an otherwise official race. Kenseth was just the one who led at the end, so it wasn't like he stole the finish. Just an unfortunate end. And really, both incidents were purely unfortunate.

Look at my YouTube video to see my own personal views in regards to some of the finer points of this deal. Because someone stopped suggesting I stop my "John's Debate!" segments, I'm taking my stuff to YouTube and just offering some quick comments. Up next is SoCal and the California Superspeedway.

It's only natural that Vickers would block Jr. It's the 500 and they had to get their lap back. It was second nature and expected from a racer.
