I pulled for Jeff Gordon... I thought Kyle Busch was going to finish better than Kurt... and Kyle Busch becomes the hometown "hero" at Las Vegas for the win (I'm sorry... "FTW" is not in my vocabulary). I have to salute Jeff Gordon for hanging tough despite a beaten-up car. Congratulations to Kyle Busch. Maybe I should have haven some suspicious feeling as I was about to eat some M&M's that Kyle Busch was going to win, and he did.

Up next- Atlanta! The NASCAR circus returns to the American Southeast after two stops out west.

Bummer for Matt Kenseth and the whole Roush crew. Congrats to Kyle for the well deserved win. Same goes to Jeff Burton and Bobby Labonte.

3 Roush cars with puffed engines :ouch:

I think if Gordon would have had a "complete" car , he may have been more of a contender for Kyle.

Nice runs by Boyer and Reutimann also.

Bobby Labonte , a top 5 👍

Of special note:

Jeff Gordon led the 20,000th lap of his career by leading at Las Vegas. My congratulations to my favorite NASCAR driver.

Great drive from Kyle Busch, I was surprised that it took him as long as he did to get up to the lead, but he's definitely showing more patience out on the track so far which he didn't show that much of last year.

Most entertaining part of the race. I still dont know how McMurray saved this

Dorifto!

Great save by Jamie Mac.

:scared: I've never seen such a high speed drift held for so long by a stock car. It's things like this that make up for daytona.

Wow, that was a briliant save by Mcmurray. I guess Cup might be actually watchable if thats possible.

Would love to see some in-car footage there to see him working the counter-steer.Can't seem to find anything on youtube though..

According to ESPN2's "NASCAR Now," there will be NO plans to race at Circuit de Gilles Villeneuve for Sprint Cup next year. Also, Jimmie Johnson has reportedly been on the witness stand of Helio Castroneves' tax evasion deal.

Anyone want to make any responses to the two topics here I mentioned?

:sly:Na we're going to talk about McMurray for atleast a few days.

It is quite a shame that nascar won't be returning to montreal. I thought that race got some pretty good reception. I love watching stock cars go left and right:)

The Nationwide Series, however, will be back for another three years. Maybe we can get another wet race? :D

We're not yet at a road race this season, but I've created two videos in the meanwhile. Feel free to have a look. And if you're on YouTube, I want your comments and ratings:

"John Talks NASCAR Road Racing"

"NASCAR Road Racing at Montreal 2008 (Nationwide Series)"

I'm thinking of a third video sometime in the future or near future. So stay tuned!

Time to look ahead to Atlanta, GTPlanet. Lot of racing ahead as NASCAR returns to the American Southeast for the first time since Daytona. Any favorites in the three top touring series of NASCAR?

I think nationwide isn't racing this week. For the Trucks though, I'm going with Busch and Hornaday.

Kurt Busch is your winner at Atlanta, but give a hell of a lot of credit to Jeff Gordon in 2nd. Carl Edwards got 3rd. Jeff Gordon WILL win at least one race this season, but he's yet to find the magic.

Up next... Bristol (day race) in two weeks time. We can play "Over/Under" on how many cautions there'll be at that race. Congratulations to that blue #2. He was hard to catch up with, let alone pass.

Way to go Kurt 👍
Penske Racing is now on the board for wins this year 👍
DODGE VICTORY , LOVE IT , deserves a 👍👍

Kurt is having a hell of a season so far, hopefully he can do better than he did last year and maybe make the chase and challenge lil' brother Kyle.

The way kurt was pulling away on restarts and passing along the high side, made me wonder if he was kicking in the KERS:scared:

Also, yet another solid finish for Mr. Stewart.

This just in...

...the guy who ran across the track for M. Ambrose's pit crew has been suspended for four races. I have to say that it was pretty dangerous to be well out of your pit box doing this. I don't know... maybe a good call, but it wasn't like he was a streaker or something.

What do you make of this deal?

I agree with it, there was no reason for him to chase after that tire, Ambrose had already left his pit when it rolled away so he would've served a penalty anyway regardless if the crew member went after it.

He was stupid at the time but he did it as an act of service for nascar. How would you like if you are mowing the neighbors lawn and find a open faucet. You kindly go to close it and the neighbors come out and say what a stupid thing you did and don't pay you.

Remember back in the early days of Nascar when they would let photographers stand out there and take pictures ? ( this while the race was going on ) :nervous::nervous::nervous:

I don't personally remember it,but I recall what D.W. said during this incident about photographers being allowed on the infield to take pics.

And yes this was back in the days! You know the days when you couldn't get caught speeding on pit road because there wasn't a pit road speed limit.

The guy was kind of in a no-win situation. If he goes out to get the tire he's obviously going to get punished, but if he doesn't, it could get all the way onto the track, and one of the cars could strike it and send it up over the fence into the grandstand. He made the right decision.

Though it looked like the tire was well on its way to the actual track and if he hadn't stopped it, it might've been struck and shot into the stands and injuries would've happened. But that's just a worst case scenario.

Nice Yoshi avatar there, Mine's_GTR!

This is the NASCAR thread. With no NASCAR action from the top three touring series this weekend, I figured I'd like to share something. Earlier this week, I learned of another NASCAR series. There's the NASCAR Corona Series and NASCAR T4 Series. THE NASCAR Corona Series is essentially Sprint Cup in Mexico. There are ovals in Mexico, but not as oval crazy as the United States. In fact, one of the most interesting ovals in Mexico is Puebla, which the IndyCar Series somewhat thought of racing at. The NASCAR T4 Series can somewhat be thought of like some of the SCCA's GT-2 through GT-5 ranks. Cars that are raced mostly resemble road-going cars. Two such models include purpose-built racing versions of the 2002-ish Mazda 6/Atenza and the Dodge Neon SRT-4. This is e I looked up all of these venues with Google Earth while also using the Wikipedia entry on NASCAR Corona Series ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/NASCAR_Corona_Series ) and NASCAR T4 ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/NASCAR_Mexico_T4_Series ) while also visiting the severely outdated e-Tracks ( http://www.etracksonline.co.uk ) website.

Here is some YouTube media to give you an idea what the NASCAR Corona Series and NASCAR T4 Series is like.

^ "NASCAR Corona Series 2007 fecha 6 Zacatecas" (4:06 min. long)

^ "Fecha 2 San Luis Potosi NASCAR Mexico" (3:59 min. long)

So this was just a little show-and-tell to chat about NASCAR while NASCAR prepares for racing action at Bristol in two weeks.
