Actually, I've been meaning to ask - since NASCAR.com's tables only confuse me more: How well is Kyle doing, season-wise? In the chase?

He's 15th in points so he's 3 places out. He's 70 points out of 12th, so he could get in with the races left but it will probably be close.

Hmm, did he have a few retirements during the summer? I remember him being ~3rd or something when I left in late-June..

He seemed to have a lot of finishes in the 20s and a couple in the 30's so that hurt him. He definitely wasn't on his streak like last year. Well I got the finishing orders from Wikipedia if you want to see it in more detail.

His average finish this season is 17.57 with 2 DNFs.
Those DNFs coming at Daytona in February in the 500 and Chicago in July with a blown motor.

Also his average finish for Bristol is 11th starting an average of 19th, though he did win the spring Bristol race.

Kyle will not win the Nationwide race tonight.
He was just taken out after finally taking the lead.

He is not happy.

Yeah, but he's never really all that happy. Just some short track racing. I'm looking for Carl Edwards or Kevin Harvick to pull it off tonight.

Green White Checkered

1- David Ragan
2- Carl Edwards
3- Brad Keselowski
4- Kevin Harvick
5- Matt Kenseth

Good drive for Ragan. Nice comeback for Keselowski.

Next Sunday is Circuit Gilles Villeneuve, love me some stock car road racing!!!

I wonder if it will rain again in Montreal for their next race... anyhow, congratulations to David Ragan on a job well done. I usually pull for Carl Edwards in Nationwide, but he just didn't have enough after that final caution flew. That's the nature of short race tracks- if you're trailing, you have to try to win as quickly as you can because you don't have much time or track left.

Sprint Cup race tomorrow night. Any predictions? As much as I love Jeff Gordon, I'm nowadays picking against him because he hasn't been at the pace he's been ten years ago. Something tells me Kyle Busch COULD win at Bristol tomorrow night (or just "PMS" about not winning), but I'm thinking somebody like Jimmie Johnson, Mark Martin, or how about this for a dark horse- Juan Pablo Montoya?

Hey, did it rain for the Nationwide race at Bristol, checked the weather forceast and it said thunderstorms were in that area and they could strike again for the Cup race tonight

Oh well, on the night shift again, yawn!

No it went off fine and stayed dry. Hope we have the same good fortune tonight for the cup race.

No it went off fine

Is that Kyle's temper tantrum or the weather?

Also to let you know, the worst driver in history, David Stremme is out of Penske next season and will be replaced by.......BRAD KESELOWSKI!!!!!!

Also, at some point during the next five hours, thunderstorms are going to crack off

It's dry and partly sunny at Bristol right now. According to wunderground.com, there is a 30% chance of scattered showers and thunderstorms tonight at Bristol. It all seems like this should be a dry race for the most part.

I made my picks on the previous page, with Juan Pablo Montoya as a dark horse. Of course, I cheer on the #24, the #48, and Carl Edwards. Let's go racin' boys!

About damn time Roger came to his senses. Hopefully, no one gives him a ride at all.

I'm pulling for Speed, that be cool to see him win once. Since that probably won't happen them I want Ambrose or Newman.

Prepare to say "I'll be damned!" Rowdy Busch was first to the line at Bristol. So those of you who thought Kyle Busch wasn't going to win, well... he did. I missed the rest of the Top 10, so you'll need to look online for who finished where.

Great race by those guys. Gonna have to tip my hat to Marcos Ambrose for a solid day finishing 3rd.

Kyle Bush and Mark Martin showed their skills right at the end. Keeping their cars out of trouble and bringing the machines home without a scratch.

Marcos Ambros FTW. I was so pulling for him to win. Anyone else extremely disappointed in the ESPN broadcast tonight? I think we set a record for the number of commercial periods. It was really starting to piss my dad and me off.

The commercial with 30 laps (8 minutes) to go with Mark Martin right on Kyle Busch's bumper was very inappropriate.

That right there is why I have fallen asleep during every race at Bristol since they have repaved it. They sucked the fun out of watching races at this track.

That's only a rumor, Penske has offered Keselowski the 12 ride but he hasn't confirmed that he would be in it next year.

ESPN's coverage blows.

Period.

I found an interesting article on Jayski's about NASCAR possibly having fuel injected engines as soon as next season:

NASCAR is researching the possibility of moving from engines with carburetors to fuel injection. Officials met with top engine builders from organizations earlier this month to discuss the move of that technology and others that would make cars more fuel efficient and more like cars on the manufacturer showroom floor. Manufacturers switched fully from carburetors to fuel injection in the 1980s. No timetable has been set for when fuel injection could be used, but Toyota's Lee White said his company could be ready to go by the 2010 opener at Daytona if NASCAR gave the go-ahead. "I would vote for it," White said on Friday at Bristol Motor Speedway. "No question, because everyone right now is spending an absolute fortune on [carburetor technology] that has absolute zero application in real life." White said all manufacturers need to be more conscious about the environment to survive, and he believes NASCAR needs to move more in that direction. "Sit in the grandstands and watch these cars go into Turns 1 and Turns 3 and watch all the fuel belching out the tailpipe," he said. "That's wasted fuel that's going right into the grandstands in terms of lead poison." White said the transition could be made easily and without great expense. "Its something that could be implemented along with a few other things that could be discussed that could potentially reduce costs and increase the potential audience for the sport," he said.

Yes he has confirmed, said so on the NASCAR website

And ESPN coverage does blow, gimme DW, Larry and Mike anytime, boogety-boogety-boogety

Interesting.

Penske has been good this year, well the 2 and 77 have been. Stremme has done nothing in the 12, he's a better Nationwide driver in sub-par equipment than a cup driver in top equipment. I imagine once Keselowski takes that seat, all 3 cars will be winning and contending for the chase next year.

Late to the party, but still, for some reason I was surprised to see Kyle actually cleanly race for the win with Martin last night. I knew Mark would not put a bumper to Kyle, even though the announcers seemed to be begging for it. Great showing from Ambrose as well, that's good to see. Jr. is also running well lately, its about time, let's see if he can keep that up.

The Cup crew will be off for the upcoming weekend, but Nationwide will be at Circuit de Gilles Villeneuve. And if you remember a past YouTube video I did, I praised the action in the pouring rain and NASCAR's adaptation to the wet weather. So what do you say? Rain for this year's race? :)

I'm hoping for rain. That will make the race really fun.
