Godaddy.com will be on the #5 for 20 races, Delphi for 2. No idea about the rest of the schedule.

Weird how sponsors think. They ditch a team that finished #2 in points this year to sponsor a driver that finished 11th.

To be honest i was angry at the way tony pussied out. Back in the day montoya would have to go to a dentist to remove the concrete from his teeth after hitting the wall. I thought he was going to do it but then he started apologizing.

Well, either the concrete or Tony's fist

Hard to say what their reasoning is. I think Carl fits their image a little better than Mark.

Never realized Nascar ran an oval race in Australia in the 80's.

Any Australian people here know if the Calder Thunderdome is still used for anything?

Check it out!!

There are six other parts I guess.

This place must have been where they got the idea for the cookie cutter mile and a half that is the bread and butter of the current Cup series schedule. I like how they drive UP out of turn 4, it's like Dover, but faster.

Wow, Austrailia? My goodness, what else great races did Nascar do that I'm not aware of? As for if its still used, it has been for while but at the moment, all motorsport activities have been put on hold.

Edit: Looks like everything is back as they apparently have all thier events back. I don't see anything major motorsports events though. Perhaps Nascar could through in another international circuit for Nationwide and (assuming they aren't afraid) bring Cup back.

I think Calder Park's oval is still around. Maybe not one of the ISC ovals here in the States, but the oval at Calder Park is a pretty nice facility from what I've seen. Calder Park is one of only a few courses that has a road course that doesn't physically use the oval for its road course (like Twin Ring Motegi).

The Thunderdome has been unused since 2001. As for the road course, apart from track days, I'm fairly sure it's inactive too. The drag strip has recently re-opened though.

There's also a 2.4km oval in Adelaide, part of the Adelaide International Raceway complex. The circuit, oval and dragstrip have been in-active for a few years now, though.

Although most road races took part on only the road course, I believe there were a few events where they linked the road course and oval together.

I didn't know about Australia, but I did know about the two races in Japan, one at Suzuka, one at Twin Ring, and I also know that Jaguar won a race in 1954, which makes them, not Toyota the first foreign Manufacturer to win a Nascar race.

There were two at Suzuka East circuit('96-'97), also a Winston West race on Suzuka east ('97?). Then yeah the TRM oval ('98).

Rusty Wallace won the first Suzuka race.
Mike Skinner won the second Suzuka race as well as the Twin Ring Motegi race.

Nascar was supposed to do an exhibition at EuroSpeedway Lausitz in Germany as well, but it never happened :(

They should shorten the season and do an international mini championship in the off season.

Monaco anyone?

Ian, what do you mean BDNNJJ? Bad Driving Nascar Neo Jimmie Johnson-ism?

I think Nascar subscribes to that...

Haha, I had part of it

Tony Stewart or Mark Martin have proven themselves very well, I'm not good at picking bests, considering if JJ was not racing, lot's more people could be looking good.

I would say it was Kyle Busch, but he could not keep his ego in check and it seems to have always gotten the better of him.

JPM for all around driving ability, if the car changed to an off road truck next year, JPM may not be first but he would be right up at the top, he can drive anything pretty much.

AND OOPS While IndyCar Series driver Danica Patrick talked only about her non-NASCAR plans Monday morning, a photo on her Web site might have said more about her possible NASCAR plans than she did. The website had a picture of her as her Web site loaded that showed her in a GoDaddy.com uniform with a Chevrolet emblem and what appears to be a JR Motorsports logo and the Nationwide Series logo. The photo was later changed to her IndyCar Series uniform. The picture was small and only appeared on the screen for a few seconds. A representative of IMG, which represents Patrick, declined comment, and a JRM spokesman did not immediately respond to a request for comment

Someone just got fired.

We're just going to have to see how she handles the ARCA Re-Max crash fest 200 or whatever they call it come February, where she will make her stock car debut.

That official? Who's ya source?

I had seen in on Jayski.com, at least I'm pretty sure I did, I'll try and find it. They also said she would be running 10-12 Nationwide races.

EDIT:

Jayski-

UPDATE 3: Danica Patrick confirmed a sponsor deal to drive an IndyCar for the next three years on Monday -- and her plans to drive a part-time schedule for JR Motorsports in NASCAR's Nationwide Series in 2010 remain on track as well, a source close to Patrick said. That, according to the source, had to take place before she could finalize any plans in NASCAR. There was no mention on Good Morning America of her NASCAR plans, but the source said those could come within the next one to two weeks. The plan is to debut Patrick in the ARCA race at Daytona International Speedway in February and earn approval from NASCAR to compete in the Daytona Nationwide race. Patrick is expected to run in 10 to 13 Nationwide events, with perhaps another ARCA race or two. The source said negotiations include putting Patrick in the #7 she drives in IndyCar and not the #5 that currently is the second car at JR Motorsports.(ESPN)

But then the newest update reads...

More about Danica and Stock Cars, no ARCA test entry: Danica Patrick unveiled a new neon green look Monday morning for her #7 Dallara-Honda. But as the Indy Racing League's most popular driver made the rounds on national talk shows, the big question didn't involve her IndyCar Series ride. Would new primary sponsor GoDaddy.com be unveiling a similar paint scheme for her on a stock car soon? "I think it would be great if they partnered up with that because it's a perfect marriage between the two, and it makes it all just flow and have a rhythm," Patrick said in a phone interview with USA TODAY after the announcement on Good Morning America. "If they want to do that, then I would be very happy." In announcing a three-year deal to remain with renamed Andretti Autosport (formerly Andretti Green Racing), Patrick didn't reveal any plans to moonlight in NASCAR next season, but she also didn't deny that her management team at IMG still is taking a hard look at stock cars. Patrick said Monday there were no other announcements planned and that she "can't be sure" if there'd be another one soon involving NASCAR. "I really can't say exactly where it is," she said when asked about potential negotiations with NASCAR teams. "Me and my team have been working for a long time on bringing it together, so it would be great if it did. Like I said this morning, if I can run both (series), I'd like to. Whether or not that's going to happen or not, it's definitely not too late and it's definitely a possibility."
The IndyCar Series opens its season in Sao Paulo, Brazil, on March 14, about a month after the NASCAR season begins at Daytona International Speedway. Patrick would need to gain NASCAR approval to race in the Feb. 13 Nationwide race at Daytona, and NASCAR doesn't permit test sessions at sanctioned tracks. However, Patrick could gain experience by racing in the Feb. 6 ARCA race at Daytona. The series will hold an open test at the 2.5-mile superspeedway on Dec. 18-20 for drivers pre-approved by ARCA and having paid the race entry fee. An ARCA spokesperson said Monday there had been no entry for Patrick for its race or the test. Patrick said she plans to spend the offseason with family and also is shooting commercials for GoDaddy, which has featured her in past Super Bowl ads and might put her in two spots next year.(USA Today)(12-1-2009)
