Which is highly unlikely, unless his team has some major issues they will at least have a top-10 finish.

Do we need to remind you of what happened in Texas?

And where did he finish? 38th!

If you want Mark Martin to win the championship, you might wanna look away now

Now I don't care how much ribbing I am gonna get for this but awesome effort from Scott Speed, Marcos Ambrose and Awesome Bill Elliott

Why did you get tickets to the most meaningless race on the schedule?

Have fun.

The races at Homestead have been good since they put in the progressive banking, nobody talks about it though because everybody talks about the championships and stuff that weekend.

I agree, the race is not pointless at all. Maybe speaking about the points, but otherwise, I don't see how it's pointless. Actually I'd love to see the start of the season here in Daytona, then see them off again for the season finale down south in Homstead. I always thought it was cool the season starts and ends in Florida.

Can't wait to see the pictures BlackBird!

The last season of IROC was not purely oval racing, that ran the cars on the Infield course at Daytona, headlights and brake lights, at night, looked really cool, not to mention the cars sound great rowing up and down through the gears. There were plenty of non Nascar driver in the series, though they did need more variety, at least the infield race at DIS was a step in the right direction.

I hope it comes back, but it will never be the same for me without the Firebirds.

Because it's the only race a tad over an hour drive from my house. Daytona is about 4 hours and I went there too on 2007. And we bought tickets back in may.

I am a Dale Jr./Brad K/Mark Martin/Richie Evans(Modified Driver) fan and my favorite tracks are North Wilkesboro,Bowman Gray(Mod Tour),Talladega,Charlotte and Rockingham Speedway(USA)

Welcome to :gtplanet: Racer.

I'm a Martin fan myself! I wish Jr. could show us something, but I've kinda lost interest ever since he added an extra eight to his car, maybe someday, who knows.

IROC is mostly oval now? I thought it use to be street tracks or something like that. :odd: Maybe I'm thinking of something else.

Maybe Scott will make a rookie mistake and take out Jimmie. Not that I would want that to happen :sly:....but then Scott would be my favorite driver.

Or Marcos Ambrose right behind him

What a season he has had in his "debut" season

If Ambrose doesn't win or make the chase next year, I will be surprised.

Absolutely, all of the MWR team have come leaps and bounds this year but Marcos Ambrose in particular, he just used to race a few road courses here and there, they gave him a full time ride and look what he's doing

Exactly, maybe Reutimann can make it in too, he impressed me by being in a position until the middle of the season, which he pretty much sucks at every track, but he was almost there.

And then add that they have MTJ, it had the looks of being a great young team. Don't know if old man Waltrip is going to be racing next year though

I don't know about MTJ, maybe, but not sure, he hasn't impressed lately, but DEI is bad when they are unsure about a drivers future with their team, I mean Jr's last couple of races with the team ended in Engine failures, but I will hold judgement on MTJ until he starts at Daytona next season.

Well, one of DEI isn't

Apparently there may be a new manufacturer in NASCAR.

Volkswagen and NASCAR?: The head of Volkswagen's motor sports program is at Homestead-Miami Speedway, fueling speculation that automaker is interested in joining Toyota as the second foreign manufacturer in NASCAR. Top NASCAR officials confirmed to The Associated Press that Hans-Joachim Stuck plans to meet with the sanctioning body. The officials requested anonymity because of the sensitive nature of the meeting. The topic of the meeting was unclear. Earlier this season, NASCAR chairman Brian France said the sanctioning body is open to accepting new manufacturers into the sport. The only requirement is that manufacturers must have production plants in the U.S. Volkswagen has a plant under construction in Tennessee, and the facility is scheduled to build midsize sedans in 2011.

A possible replacement if Dodge pulls out?

They won't use the Phaeton since it's not sold here. I would guess the Passat would be the best candidate since it sounds like it will be built here.

Or the Jetta? Anyway, we shall see, next up, The Jmmie Johnson 400, I mean the Ford 400

What is the deal with all these drivers getting "revenge" this weekend? Last race fits? Just seems stupid, if they didn't have these cars, that could be so much more dangerous, not to say it is not dangerous, anything could happen, but after Hamlin yesterday spinning Keselowski, and now Montoya spinning Stewart, enough is enough. Supposed to be professionals, not little kid's at recess.
