Both sides put up about a dozen bricks until Spo called a timeout to whip them into shape.

CBS Sports
The Nuggets were 0 for 22 from 3-point range, breaking the NBA record of 20 misses set by the Trail Blazers in a game against Toronto last week. Seventy-four of Denver's point came in the paint. link

There is so much wrong there, it is amazingly pathetic. Blazers gave the Nuggets 22 shots from outside(lack of perimeter defense), but the Nuggets couldn't capitalize on one. Blazers' lack of interior defense gave up 74 in the paint. It's like two blind guys competing in a go-kart racing.

If the Blazer shoot well, Wesley Matthews play, I think we'd win. If we struggle, no Wes, Denver.
Wes played, Blazers shot well, they did win. *pats myself on the back* :P

*edit I watched only the first half, when the Blazers were shooting the lights out? Both teams actually shot below 40% for the game. :ouch: *slaps myself*

If the Nuggets kept bricking their 3 pointers, then I as a defender will give up that shot all night.

Other than that, the Blazers did what I pretty much said earlier.

I don't think it was a lack of perimeter D so much as the Blazers taking confidence in the stats the Nugs where throwing up.

I understand what you are saying. Problem is, it doesn't matter if you are hitting them or not. Blazers suck at defending the perimeter, also the paint, and can go in fetal position against pick & roll.

P.S. This trend did not start tonight, or this season, or last season.

Well those defensive lapses didn't happen too much tonight!👍

Even Thibs would be content with 22 shots if they resulted 0, let alone a couple here and there. He would probably be annoyed that they got 22 shots off to begin with. But hey, he'll take it.

Though Thibs would be having a rage induced heart attack if he coached the Blazers.

Denver offense sucked tonight, as they just couldn't not make jumpers. Mid range or outside. What did Blazers defense do? Give them 74 points in the paint. :dopey:

I wish we had defensive coach like Thibodeau. I'm a firm believer in defensive basketball. Duh. You won't win anything meaningful without defense.

The first thing he'll do as Blazers coach is hand them out Defense for Dummies books to his players.

Really 74 points in the paint? At least you guys didn't do as bad as the Mavs.

That said, I'd love to take Aldridge of your hands.

Perhaps one of the biggest blunders in Bulls history in dealing him. If we had him with Rose...Miami who?

I honestly never thought that LaMarcus would turn out to be better than Chris Bosh(name Christina used before the sex-change operation). At least you guys got Tyrus Thomas & Victor Khryapa out of the deal.

:P

As for Dallas, they were playing Miami Heat, not the Nuggets a lottery team. Give them a break.

Those scrubs wished they still played in a Bulls jersey.

Coach Skiles let Thomas get away with too much crap. No discipline at all.

I'll give Dallas the free pass tonight since they were without Das German.

I've also said that Dirk would never be the main man on a Championship club.

Then he 🤬 slay the Miami Heat!

I was shocked, but very pleased. Love that guy(now).

Dirk will always be remembered as the guy that denied Lebron his ring.

He effectively became a basketball troll's kryptonite to Lebron fanboys.

Wow it's almost 2 AM, guess I'll hit the sack. Later folks.:)

First Quarter report card: B-

Bulls are the fourth seed right now. Not bad considering the line up we had suggested 6th at best on paper.

This was the dunk Blazer fans were talking about at work today. Meh. It's pretty cool. Personally, his playmaking was the only thing Blazers impressed me with last night.

What's up with basketballers picking the number 0? That's so dumb. There's 99 different numbers on a team of 15 dudes. Come on.

I agree on the Knicks, and yeah, I was just telling my coworkers that I thought "0", along with "5" are centers. Whatever.

The Rockets needd a great performance against the Memphis Grizzlies, and boy did we get one! The Grizzlies beat the Dallas Mavericks from flag-to-flag last night. They blew several tires and leaked oil once they took on Houston here in H-Town. The final score was pure ownage: a 121-96 beat down of the Grizz. They just took control late in the first half followed by pulling away in the third quarter. If the Rockets keep playing like this consistently, we might actually have something special here since the T-Mac and Yao days.

Granted Memphis was doing a back-to-back, it's nice to know MEM could beat Dallas from start to finish even without Dirk in DAL's lineup... but fall apart taking on my Rockets. Makes me happy as a Houston sports fan. :)

Let me salute all other winners of tonight's games up to and after this post. Including these:

* The Miami Heat slammed the Utah Jazz 105-89 in South Beach. LeBron James accounted for 30 points, 9 rebounds, and 7 assists.

* An 81-75 victory was what Indiana got over the New Orleans Hornets in New Orleans.

* In Washington, D.C., the Detroit Pistons didn't blow their motor as they won 96-87. I wonder if more Washington Wizards fans are already looking forward to Redskins football or even Nationals baseball at this point.

* Unhappy travels for Chicago as they fell hard in Atlanta. Atlanta used to have an NHL team called the Thrashers. Well, this Atlanta team thrashed the Chicago Bulls 92-75. It was a double-double for Al Horford (ATL) with his 20 points and 10 rebounds.

And that's all.

Salt on the wound John, salt on the wound.:ouch:

That said D Rose should punish them next time he plays them. (Hopefully soon!)👍👍👍

Blazers won five in a row guys!!!!

All against lottery teams, except San Antonio, whom we just matched up well against last couple of years. :P

No basketball slated for Christmas Eve. However, play will resume on Christmas Day with these matches:

* Boston Celtics at Brooklyn Nets
* New York Knicks at Los Angeles Lakers
* Oklahoma City Thunder at Miami Heat
* Houston Rockets at Chicago Bulls
* Denver Nuggets at Los Angeles Clippers

So even if you don't like the present(s) you will get for Christmas, at least know the NBA has your back with plenty of good games to tide you over. Yeah- Lakers will have their fun early, then will revert the Staples Center to be the Clippers' home court. I have seen time lapses of how they change the court at Staples Center from Lakers to Clippers and Clippers to Lakers. Pretty fascinating.

I found out the Kings snapped Portland's five-game winning streak. Tough break for the Trail Blazers.

Now, here is what I really wanted to share for this post. Here are the current standings heading into Christmas. You can envision what the playoffs would be like if they started tomorrow (#1 vs. #8, #2 vs. #7, #3 vs. #6, #4 vs. #5). Source: Yahoo! Sports:

BEST HOME RECORD: Oklahoma City (14-2)
BEST AWAY RECORD: San Antonio (11-6)

LONGEST WINNING STREAK: Los Angeles Clippers (13 straight wins)
LONGEST LOSING STREAK: Charlotte (15 straight losses)

And there you have it. Remember- there is still plenty of season left. So don't feel bad if your team(s) is/are currently doing bad. Still a lot of basketball to be played before this all eventually heads into playoff time.

Happy holidays, GTPlaneteers! :D

All I can say is knock Boston out of 8th and keep the Lakers out of the 8.:P

Could be a good game. D-Will's been getting a lot of positive press lately.
* New York Knicks at Los Angeles Lakers
* Oklahoma City Thunder at Miami Heat
Highlight of the night. The Lakers' superstars are going to have to live up to their fame seeing as these aren't the same Knicks of past seasons.

The Finals rematch, except now both teams have added new pieces to the puzzle. However, I think the lack of Harden vs the addition of Allen could sway in Miami's favor.
* Houston Rockets at Chicago Bulls
Haven't been paying attention to either team, but I think the Bulls may have this one.
* Denver Nuggets at Los Angeles Clippers
Predicting that the Nuggets become #14 for the Clippers.

Well I think I can safely say that yet again New Orleans is looking for another draft pick

Then again Eric Gordon has finally (oh my lawd) recovered from his knee injury and may be able to play for the Hornets soon.

But I don't think he's gonna change our record that much
