Rudy G had 29pts and DeRozan had 27 in their 15pt fall to the Heat today. I've got to say I was rather impressed with the job Rudy did guarding Lebron 1-on-1, even flat out rejecting him as Lebron bullied his was to the hoop in an iso play. These 2 playing together could be really good for both of them. Unfortunately, players like Lowry (hasn't come good since coming back from injuries) and Valanciunas need to start living up to the hype, with more consistent contributions from players such as T.Ross and Fields (now out with back spasms). Also, Ross needs more minutes.

Just happened to catch this.
CBSSports.com wire reports
League admits missed calls in two closely contested games

NEW YORK -- The NBA has acknowledged a pair of costly incorrect calls from the final seconds of recent games.

The league says video replay showed that Denver's Andre Iguodala reached in and fouled Indiana's Paul George with the score tied at 101 and 2.2 seconds left Sunday. Iguodala was credited with a steal and the Nuggets won the game.

The league also says a charging foul called against Dallas guard O.J. Mayo on Tuesday should have been a block on Portland's Ronnie Price, who did not get his body directly in Mayo's path prior to him starting his upward shooting motion. Mayo should have been given two free throws with 1.5 seconds remaining and the game tied at 104. Instead, Portland got possession and LaMarcus Aldridge made the winning shot.

I heard about the charge that Mayo got called for, also couple of LaMarcus's big shot. Looks like Indiana got robbed, too. I don't know if the refs genuinely missed the call, or if it was another one of those occasions that they didn't want to "decide the game" nonsense.

Will this damn ASG come sooner? My Bulls are literally dragging themselves towards the break.

-cue unnecessary hate for Stern.

Some NBA teams wanted to play 'ball tonight. How did they do? Here's your rundown of Monday night's eight games:

* Without some of their key players, it was a sad night for Clippers fans as LAC lost 98-90 at the Washington Wizards.

* I found out that the Pacers got their 14th straight home win as the Indiana Pacers won 111-101 against the Chicago Bulls. I think this was the game that was postponed earlier this season because of inclement weather (got to love Midwestern snow!). Then again, I'm a Southern boy from Houston, so what do I know about Midwestern weather?

* The Orlando Magic must enjoy losing. Their latest fail was in Philadelphia in what seemed like a high-scoring COLLEGE game: a 78-61 victory for the 76ers.

* Close, but not enough. The Charlotte Bobcats couldn't top the Miami Heat in Miami, falling 99-94 to El Heat.

* It was 99-85 in Madison Square Garden as the New York Knicks nicked up the Detroit Pistons. Carmelo Anthony accounted for 27 points, 7 rebounds, and 3 assists.

* Cue AC/DC because the Dallas Mavericks got thunderstruck 112-91 at the Oklahoma City Thunder. OKC's Westbrook had 24 points.

* This Northwestern Division battle between Portland and Minnesota ended up with a 100-98 victory for the visiting Portland Trail Blazers. The Timberwolves couldn't defend home turf very well on this night. LaMarcus Aldridge put up 25 points and 13 rebounds in the win.

* The Utah Jazz needed Overtime to put away the Sacramento Kings 98-91 in Salt Lake City. Jason Thompson (SAC) and Al Jefferson (UTAH) both got double-doubles. Thompson had 23 points and 10 rebounds for Sacramento while Al Jefferson had 15 points and 12 rebounds.

The NBA Fan Night game for Tuesday night is the Los Angeles Lakers at the Brooklyn Nets. I have to wonder how the Lakers will try to keep it together on this long road trip.

Feel good stuff from the NBA:
CBS Sports
From ArizonaSports.com:

According to a report obtained through a FOIA request, it has been learned that Suns forward Michael Beasley, on January 25, was pulled over by Scottsdale Police due to speeding down Scottsdale Road at about 1:10 a.m.

He was cited for driving with a suspended license, driving with excessive speed, driving with expired registration and failure to display a license plate on the rear of the vehicle. Driving with a suspended license and excessive speeding are criminal traffic violations, whereas driving with expired registration and failure to display a license plate are civil traffic violations.

The report states the officer placed Beasley in handcuffs and arrested him, but decided to release him at the scene due to his cooperation.

How was he not arrested? Complete Story

I see suspension coming for Artest.

Edit: Another comical low-note - Orlando scored 61 against the Sixers tonight. They don't pay them enough!

Enjoy your NBA hoops tonight. My Rockets are in a back-to-back: Golden State Warriors tonight, then at the Miami Heat tomorrow night.

The Indiana Pacers, however, will be on this season's only back-to-back-to-back. That was because of that postponed game played last night. They are home tonight before hitting the road tomorrow night.

Good luck to all your team(s) if playing tonight.

Hell of a game! The first half ended up being a knock down drag out brawl offensively. The half ended 77-62 in favor of the Rockets. We connected on 14 3-pointers for the Rockets to tie an NBA record for most 3's in a half. The Rockets end up TYING the NBA record for most made threes in a game- 23. Golden State reluctantly fouled the Rockets to prevent us from breaking the NBA record for made threes in a game. We ended up winning 140-109. A Flagrant Foul late in the game ended up in some Warriors and Rockets get ejected. Chippy game late. Funny enough, HOU and GS will meet three more times this season. The next game between these two is at Golden State next week. You think the Warriors are going to be jacked when we head out to Oakland next week on our road trip? Damn- that was a hell of a game (pardon my language)!

Elsewhere...

* 114-103 was Indiana's margin of victory at home when the Pacers beat the visiting Atlanta Hawks.

* It was 92-83 as the Los Angeles Lakers left Brooklyn with a victory over the home-standing Brooklyn Nets.

* The Phoenix Suns won 96-90 in Memphis against the Grizzlies.

Congratulations to all winners, including the eventual winner of Milwaukee at Denver.

Big game for the Raps tomorrow when they take on the Celtics, and apparently Bargnani will be back (probably a bad thing :nervous:, but could be a good thing if he's decided he wants to play now). I want nothing more, and I mean nothing, than for Toronto to win tomorrow. Fingers crossed.

No shame losing to the Heat. Rockets failed 114-108 at the Heat. The boys in red and white didn't have any lag from last night's offensive firestorm. We were down by as much as 17 in this game before making a great comeback. However, the Heat were too much. We're swept for the fourth straight season against the Heat, and it is also our seventh-straight loss to the Heat.

Up next Houston is a home game vs. Portland. It's one game before we embark on a three-game western road trip as Toyota Center gets all dolled up for the All-Star festivities.

That was HOU at MIA. We failed. Heat didn't. Let's see who else won or failed...

* Toronto didn't have enough. It was 99-95 as the boys in green left Toronto, Ontario, Canada with a win.

* Philadelphia got creamated at home as the Indiana Pacers won 88-69.

* Despite Carmelo Anthony's 31 points, the Wizards won 106-96 at home against the visiting New York Knicks.

* The Clippers kept on keeping on as the Clippers won 86-76 at the freefalling Orlando Magic.

* Cleveland's Cavaliers convincingly crushed Charlotte. It was 122-95 in Cleveland.

* It was a much tighter affair in Auburn Hills, Michigan as Brooklyn's Nets just pulled away 93-90 over the Detroit Pistons.

* Atlanta returned home to win 103-92 over the Memphis Grizzlies.

* It was a good day if you're a Hornets/Pelicans fan. New Orleans won 93-84 over the visiting Phoenix Suns.

* After getting lit up like a Christmas tree last night, the Golden State Warriors failed again. This time, Oklahoma City Thunder smacked Golden State 119-98 in Oklahoma City.

Congratulations to all other winners, including the eventual winners of POR at DAL, MIL at UTAH, and SA at MIN.

It's the final Thursday before All-Star Weekend's festivities here in Houston. Need your NBA fix tonight? Don't worry! These games will fix you up:

* Los Angeles Lakers (23-26) at Boston Celtics (25-23)
* Chicago Bulls (29-19) at Denver Nuggets (31-18)

Enjoy some NBA hoops this Thursday night.

Both Thursday night matches ended in beat downs. It was 116-95 last night with Boston hammering the Los Angeles Lakers, and 126-98 the Denver Nuggets spanked the Chicago Bulls.

The All-Star Break comes around starting on Valentine's Day. It's best to try to go through the remaining matches up until then to set the tone heading into the playoffs. Some teams get better or worse once the break is over. So if it seems as if your team will flounder after the break, it means your team better get its act together now.

[UPDATE] So I don't forget, I'd like to congratulate Kevin Garnett on joining the 25K point club. He needed only six points to be over 25K points in a career, and he ended up with 15 last night. Congrats to the Big Ticket on a job well done.

We needed this one- the JohnBM01 vs. a6m5 Special ended in a 118-103 flag-to-flag (to use racing speak) victory for my home standing Rockets. This one didn't need Overtime unlike the previous two games between Houston and Portland. I think we're playing for a season split the next time Portland and Houston, which should be some time in April (as I'm hearing). And this time- in Portland.

I may or may not update this post with highlights of other games. But if I don't update this post, congratulations to all other winners up to and beyond the time of this post.

Raptors had a huge win in a street fight overtime game against the Pacers today, Rudy G doing his clutch thing to seal the deal.

The Hornets beat... the Hornets? New Orleans didn't have one of those Mirror Matches (to use Mortal Kombat speak) or anything, did they?

I want to comment on the Raptors' win at the Indiana Pacers. Proud for your Raps, Paulie. Not easy beating a game team like Indiana and especially at the Pacers. I also want to salute the Chicago Bulls for taking down the Jazz in Salt Lake City last night. Did a real favor for the Western Conference.

My Rockets will head to California for our final three games before the All-Star festivities. Our trip: at Sacramento (Sunday night), at Golden State (Tuesday night), and at the Los Angeles Clippers (Wednesday night). Enjoy some Saturday night NBA action if your team(s) is/are playing tonight.

Tomorrow is the battle for Down Under GTP NBA fans, Hornets vs Raptors, Stavingo and Spacegoat vs me. With Rudy G on Toronto now the Hornets will have their work cut out for them.

Rudy is going to have a field day, our biggest hole at the moment is the 3 spot :ouch:

Well I wouldn't be so sure, last game against the Hornets for Rudy wasn't that long ago with Memphis and he shot 3 of 17 from the field. The last game these 2 teams played was an overtime thriller which Toronto won but the Hornets didn't have Eric Gordon last time and sometimes DeRozan can struggle a little defensively against good shooting guards. Plus Bargnani is back now, which normally creates a bigger hole on defence than he punches on offence.

True but you never know what will happen

The no.1 draft picks of their respective years going at it with AD and Bargnani, shall be good to watch 👍

No... I'm pretty out of shape. Haven't played basketball since my sophomore High School year (1998-1999 for me). So it would be unlikely I'd pull any ankle breaker moves on anybody.

I found out there will be some regular season games on Valentine's Day. I thought Valentine's Day was going to be an off-day or something. Playing on Valentine's Day will be the Miami Heat at the Oklahoma City Thunder, and then the Battle for Los Angeles- Los Angeles Lakers at the Los Angeles Clippers. Imagine that- crosstown rivals that don't like each other one bit on a day of love. Got to love sports!

My Rockets will be in California for three games starting with Sacramento. The Kings took down the Utah Jazz, and I'm hopeful they don't take down my Rockets. The Rockets just have to keep winning games to keep themselves among that Top 8 in the Western Conference standings. Maybe with some luck and losses from teams ahead of us, we can move up the standings. Realistically, I don't see the Rockets going any higher than 6th in the West. Maybe 5th at best. Getting those all-important tie breakers will help in playoff positioning.

Enjoy some NBA hoops.

No, I meant I pull the crossover, but break my own ankle.

Lakers & Heat, next. This should be pretty.[/sarcasm]

Now why would the Raptors be interested in Boozer? Bigger question, in what world do they envision the Bulls taking Barghani off their hands?

But I must thank Toronto for punching the Pacers in the face. Bunch of pretenders.

So far, so bad. Rockets failed 117-111 in California's capital city last night. The Sacramento Kings were just too much for my Rockets- even including ex-Rocket players like Chuck Hayes. Nothing stings more than seeing former teammates do better for other teams. Just ask my NFL's Houston Texans as the Baltimore Ravens won Super Bowl XLVII with former Texans like V. Leach, Bernard Pollard, and Jacoby Jones among others. Anyhow, up next is a back-to-back: at Golden State on Tuesday and at the Clippers on Wednesday. Rockets now fall to 28-25 and still bringing up the rear among the Top 8 in the Western Conference standings.
