DeRozan scored 40 against Dallas today in a 21pt deficit comeback victory, great stuff. Is it true that Augustin has been playing well for the Bulls? Where was he in Indiana and Toronto?:odd: It'd also suck to be the Kings right now, in one game Gay went down with an injured achilles and Cousins hurt his ankle.

Edit: Also, I love watching Bargnani make a fool of himself now he's gone from the Raptors, here's his latest "mastery".

I wish there was a "unlike" button I can click on Brett's post. Tonight, they beat my #2 Spurs(I know, big surprise). I really don't like OKC. Bah! :yuck:

You have your preferences confused. The "unlike" button is not the button you are looking for. You want to hit the "like" button. You will hit the "like" button. Like away.

Any time OKC wins is a good time and should be liked. :D

Tonight is a two-game night. Are you ready for these two games:

* Los Angeles at Miami Heat
* Denver Nuggets at Portland Trail Blazers

Both are part of the NBA on TNT tonight. Enjoy your hoops tonight.

The NBA All-Stars will be announced later today. Something I saw just a few moments ago was a look at some of the most valuable franchises according to Forbes. So who are the five most valuable franchises? Here is a look at the top 5 most valuable franchises:

1.) New York Knicks ($1.4B USD)
2.) Los Angeles Lakers ($1.35B USD)
3.) Chicago Bulls ($1B USD)
4.) Boston Celtics ($875M USD)
5.) Brooklyn Nets ($780M USD)

Here are some other notables from this list from Forbes:

6.) Houston Rockets ($775M USD)
7.) Miami Heat ($770M USD)
8.) Dallas Mavericks ($765M USD)
10.) San Antonio Spurs ($660M USD)
11.) Oklahoma City Thunder ($590M USD)
12.) Portland Trail Blazers ($587M USD)
13.) Los Angeles Clippers ($575M USD)
14.) Phoenix Suns ($565M USD)
18.) Toronto Raptors ($520M USD)
28.) New Orleans Pelicans ($420M USD)
30.) Milwaukee Bucks ($405M USD)

Just wanted to share this with you all.

I think the All-Star selections are terrible, Iriving and Anthony as starters? Please, doesn't team and current season play factor in to the minds of fans?

Well, at least they play(ed, in the case of Melo.) at an all-star level. To fans it's all about popularity. At least Jeremy Lin isn't a starter for the west.

Kobe Bryant is also a starter and played in six games this season. He has no business being on the All Star Team, much less a starter.

Chandler Parsons cashed in 10 straight 3-pointers (1st time ever in Rockets history), but we still failed to the Memphis Grizzlies 88-87. This home-and-home series is a back-to-back. So we're heading to Memphis tomorrow night for revenge. Sad night if you're a Rockets fan. Memphis FINALLY gets their first Southwest Division win of the season (0-10 in the division heading into tonight).

Elsewhere, who pissed off Carmelo Anthony? He went Beast Mode against the poor Charlotte Bobcats- 62 points put up by 'Melo. It was both a career-high and franchise-high record for most points put up by a Knick in NY's resounding 125-96 victory.

I pissed off Melo, that sure shut me up!

On my Raptors' front, Lowry had a triple double and DeRozan backs up his 40pt game with a 34pt game in a win over the 76'ers.

Edit: 1000th post this season!

NBA All-Star Games generally are circus display of all-around ignorance. It can be political, too. I don't think I've watched one in over a decade. If I was Blake Griffin, I'd be embarrassed to be in.

What a bitter-sweet game. Terrence Ross comes from nowhere to tie a franchise record 51pts, but they lost the game and DeRozan to a rolled ankle.:nervous:

Misery loves company, so let me say we lost again. Much bigger win for Memphis this time around as they beat my Rockets 99-81 in Memphis. The Grizzlies couldn't buy a Southwest Division win then. Now, they won two straight against the same team. Shame.

Good job to all other winners from tonight.

So the trend the past few weeks has been a lot of players scoring 40+ points, and mysteriously right after a Gary Payton rant about how the NBA is all about trying to score a lot individually.

LIST:
  • January 17, Kevin Durant: 54 points vs. Warriors
  • January 21, Rudy Gay, 41 points vs. Pelicans
  • January 22, DeMar DeRozan, 40 points vs. Mavericks
  • January 23, LaMarcus Aldridge, 44 points vs. Nuggets
  • January 24, Carmelo Anthony, 62 points (!) vs. Bobcats
  • January 24, Marcus Thornton, 42 points vs. Pacers
  • January 25, Terrence Ross, 51 points vs. Clippers
I'd list the many 30+ point players, but that'd be too many.

You mean you don't think Blake Griffin deserves a spot in an all star game?

24 year old uber-athletic power forward, 23 PPG 10 RPG 3.5 APG and 23 PER while converting 71% of his FT and hitting 40% of his mid range shots for 31-15 Clippers team that doesn't have their All-World PG since beginning of the year (9-3 without CP3) and almost no frontcourt bench depth, with more highlight material than most of the league.

That guy doesn't deserve a place in an all star game?

Over the two players mentioned, hell no. Love is just statistically much superior player to Griffin. Aldridge is a better basketball player, leading a very thin team to one of the NBA leading win/loss record. On top of that, these two guys are playing out of their mind, this season. Griffin has yet to add layers to his game, making him the same predictable player with the athleticism, but no killer instinct. You put Love or Aldridge in Clippers uniform, and Griffin will look like DeAndre Jordan.

Aldridge I can agree on. He is playing out of his mind and is at least in the discussion to be this year's MVP. Love is a meh. Stats wise, Love and Griffin are very similar. Further, his team is probably not going to make the playoffs. Those two are pretty much a coin toss.

What does killer instinct even mean? Because last I checked Aldridge never went beyond 1st round of playoffs and Love never even had been in post season. And you don't think he adds layers to his game every year even though he does (vide his free throws and mid range game). Interesting.

Besides all three will be in all star game.

Portland is a very thin team? One of the reasons why they made such a big jump from last year is upgrade to their bench.

Quote: You put Love or Aldridge in Clippers uniform, and Griffin will look like DeAndre Jordan. <- So you think DeAndre Jordan is a bad player now? League leader in rebounds and a candidate to one of the All-NBA defensive teams (I don't know if he deserves a spot in all defense team but still he will be a candidate, although that is a completely different discussion) ?

Anyway, my 2013/2014 NBA All Stars in no particular order without starters/non-starters distinction:

East:

Backcourt: Wade, Wall, Lowry, Irving, Stephenson

Frontcourt: Hibbert , Noah, James, Anthony, George, Bosh

For last spot I would go for one of the following: Millsap, Joe Johnson, Drummond or Arron Afflalo. Probably Millsap due to the record the Hawks have.

West:

Backcourt: Harden, Curry, Lillard, Parker, Chris Paul

Frontcourt: Griffin, Love, Aldridge, Howard, Anthony Davis, Durant,

For last spot this time I would choose someone between Nowitzki, Cousins or Conley.

Edit: We'll, that'll teach me. LaMarcus going for 8 & 6 so far in the 4th in Oakland. :ouch:

What does killer instinct even mean?
Around the league, the ability to take over & destroy the other team, generally thru scoring.

Because last I checked Aldridge never went beyond 1st round of playoffs and Love never even had been in post season.
Griffin wouldn't have made the difference if the roles were reversed, and people tend to vote for the current season, not last.
And you don't think he adds layers to his game every year even though he does (vide his free throws and mid range game). Interesting.
I totally respect player who polish their skills. Let me know when he actually add layers to his game.
Besides all three will be in all star game.
Oh, yeah.
Portland is a very thin team? One of the reasons why they made such a big jump from last year is upgrade to their bench.
Mo Williams? After Williams, we have Thomas Robinson & Freeland as our top bench. Yeah, OK, you got me. We sure are deep for a team keeping up with the Heat & OKC. :dopey:
So you think DeAndre Jordan is a bad player now? League leader in rebounds and a candidate to one of the All-NBA defensive teams (I don't know if he deserves a spot in all defense team but still he will be a candidate, although that is a completely different discussion) ?
He's an excellent player who could add layers to his game.

I disagree big time on the statistics. I'm the biggest Love hater(he's a local w/reputation), but you surround him with the Clippers roster & he'd do more than just make the Playoffs!

Carmelo's 62 points are BS. Dude traveled so much they upgraded him to first class.

HAH! Take that Nets, your cheap shots and biased refs were no match for the Raptors today, even without DeRozan.

The last NBA Fan Night Game of the Week for January 2014 is...

San Antonio Spurs at Houston Rockets!

NBA fans want some Texas Triangle action. A three hour drive down I-45 is what separates San Antonio and Houston. The state of Texas will win this one, but which Texas team will win? We hoop it up around 7:09 PM Central Time here in H-Town!

So here's an interesting thing to look at...
This guy is turning the NBA into NFL teams, and it's pretty cool.
However, my only problem is that he didn't bother removing basketballs from the logo..

My two favorites so far:

We got win number 30 on the season hosting San Antonio. It was a 97-90 victory for the Houston Rockets, who finally woke up in the 2nd Half after a lethargic first half where we trailed by as many as about 17 (or maybe 15). Free throw shooting woes were rectified with solid shooting by the Rockets. This was NOT the 65th birthday present Gregg Popovich wanted as his team fell by seven. But if you're a Rockets fan, you'll take the victory.

Up next for the Rockets... the other Texas team- at Dallas tomorrow night as part of a Texas Triangle back-to-back.

Congratulations to all other winners from tonight's games, including New Orleans taking down Cleveland on the road. By the way, DCybertron, those football uniform things you posted look very cool.

Houston led by as many as about 12 or 15 at Dallas. The Rockets had that brutal seven-game losing streak at Dallas. Tonight, it was seven and no more as we won 117-115 over McLaren's Dallas Mavericks. No James Harden in the lineup. Dirk N. had himself a performance to vault himself ahead in the scoring ranks. I think he surpassed the 26K point mark in this game. A number of fans left the arena as they thought Dallas was going to lose badly. However, some bone-headed fouls by the Rockets put the Mavs back in it. In the end... us Rockets fans will take the 117-115 victory in Dallas.

Congratulations to all other winners; tough luck to all the other losers.

We really got to stop losing games by 1-3 points. It's nicer than getting blown out, but most of the scores were avoidable looking back through the games. Ugh, still 8th seed, but we need to be 7th or 6th. We know how to play San Antonio & Portland better than OKC.
