Great choice for a first car. Sounds like you've got big plans, but start small.
I can't believe you're in Guelph, thats only 40 mins from me! Small world...
Nice choice for a first car, and definitely beats what I ended up with as a first (although, I'll bet that I paid far less for mine...$1! Woop woop!). Congrats, and keep us posted on her progress. 👍
Awesome, Toronto I'm guessing?
Nope, think farther south. I'm basically in the middle of Cambridge, Brantford and Ancastor. If your ever in the area and feel like cruisin let me know, me and the G are always up for it. 👍
Deflooding an FC is a piece of cake, and if this is anything like the ones I've got experience, you'll be doing it pretty regularly.
Just pull the ignition fuse, and crank the engine for a few seconds, then reconnect and start the car.
Nice, my youngest brother has had an Turbo S4 RX-7 (1986, same year he was born) for the past four or so years. Pretty much nothing done to it, and it hasn't needed barely any repairs which is surprising.
We've never actually raced (street racing = bad) but we think that his RX-7 and my Skyline are pretty evenly matched. He has less horsepower, but is much lighter and vice versa for my GTS-4.
Personally i prefer the looks of the S4 over the S5, i don't actually like the rear lights as much on the 5.
Some pics of his car.
This is the newest pic i have of it, nothing much has changed once again except it is despoilered.
I'll show him this topic anyway, he needs motivation to get his machine looking tidy again (those pics actually make it look a little better than it is!).![]()
Right on man, once I get the car deflooded, and insured we should cruise, ever been to Guelph btw? I got a buddy who'd also come, hell if you want I can bring along PublicSecrecy if you remember him haha.
I will be honest: As soon as I saw the picture load, I thought "Idiot." Upon further reading, though, I read that the car is not the ticking time bomb that is the turbocharged FCs, so it should actually last you a good long time without many foibles. A good car to learn advanced driving techniques, as the handling limits are higher than the engine can get to. Good buy, I say. 👍 I dream to some day own an RX-7 myself, though an FB in my case.
It is straight piped with not cats and has two cherry bombs so you can imagine how loud this thing is. But man am I excited, next is to get the car insured and finally drive my baby around!
Haha, catless straightpipes on an N/A FC, heck yeah! Let me guess... it sounds exactly like a WWII Fighter Plane, doesn't it?
Haha it does at idle! Sounds pretty pissed off!Awesome that you got it up and running so easily. I've done a lot of RX7 work, that's not always the case...

Soon, when I get her insured and plated.Sound clip plz!
Thats the thing, I'm going to hunt down a stock exhaust system to pass emissions then try and find a decent exhaust. Right now I'm looking for a Racing Beat exhaust for the 7.How the hell is it gonna pass emissions?
Haha, sounds like a fun idea!ND4SPD: get a loudspeaker with a looping recording of a few brownings firing. That'll scare the crud out of the friendly Guelph commuters.
👍
I'm glad all turned out well with the FC. My SC300 didn't fare too well when it endured electrical trouble.![]()
Is it just me or is the paint in the original pics total dullsville? Jeff, you need to marry your car to some Zaino or something. Otherwise, mega congrats, dude.
Err sorry about the double post, it's not letting me edit my post atm anyways I got a sound clip/video of the car running. Yes that's PublicSecrecy in the passenger side then getting out to block the view. Anyways the first 4 minutes is the car starting then warming up. I start revving the car at around 4:50sec mark and yes thats backfire haha. And no, I did not hit the redline in the video, I only went about 6500rpm.
It sounds so cool, but what's wrong with hitting the redline? It's to keep you from blowing your engine, not an indication of when it's going to blow.
If I remember right, an sr20det can endure 18 min or so of bouncing off the redline before blowing, so I'm sure your RX-7 can take a second or so.
Still though, awesome car.👍
I forgot about the buzzer, can't wait to hear it.True, rotaries love the redline. I just want her to hit the redline when I'm driving it haha. Maybe soon I'll have an in car video of me driving the car. (Making the buzzer go off👍) Glad you liked the video, but damnit I need a proper exhaust.
