It didn't have any Hondas, but at the same time didn't feature cops (unlike the following NFS titles).
It still represented ILLEGAL STREET RACING, which is something Honda don't want their cars being associated with.

There is still a flaw with that theory since Forza Horizon features illegal street racing, unless Honda likes festivals and electronic dance music enough to change their minds.

The only scenario I can think of is because of a clause in the licensing agreement between Honda and EA which states that their vehicles cannot be used in PAL territories, which is odd.

But didn't the first Underground have an Integra Type R?

Apparently they do, the first Horizon even had a free DLC pack consisting of three Hondas. (sort-of a promotion, I guess?)
Your point being?

All other Underground 2 versions had those cars and at least to me, it just seems rather strange why they changed it at that point (instead of either earlier, so no UG2 would end up with Hondas, or later, so this "rule change" (for the lack of a better word) would only start to "appear" in Most Wanted onwards).
But yeah, you got me at illegal street racing - I just remembered the Forza Horizon games have Hondas, so I thought "illegal street racing" means "there has to be police" for them.

To be honest, considering there's nothing to be found on the Internet (except for something in a forum discussion similar to this thread), I think there might be another, simpler reason as to why PAL and NTSC versions got different cars: Because they'd more fit each audience. Think of it this way: The game had a lack of affordable European cars (even if it was based in the US), so why not bring in some cars that the playerbase might actually drive? The Civic Coupé wasn't as popular as the hatchback here (as far as I know) and the Acura RSX (Honda Integra DC5) wasn't sold in Europe at all, while the Peugeot 106 and the Opel Corsa are two small, relatively cheap cars the NFS-playing Joe Average might own.
For games MW2005 and onwards: use theory from the last few posts.

Someobe asked nfs Twitter if there was going to be cockpit view here's their answer

When I was younger, I loved used the 3rd person views but as I started to get into racing sims, I've started to use the cockpit cam more often. Now I can't stand using anything else. I'll probably just use the hood cam.

I'm honestly expecting EA to come out at E3 and say that online isn't going to be needed, they'd be mad to keep it online only after the backlash they got.

Didn't they make SimCity offline after all the hate they got?

One thing I hope they put some actual effort into this year: the police chatter! It was insanely in-depth back in Most Wanted 2005. When Criterion came in and did all the radio voices...I can't say I really liked it. C'mon, you know how much you loved all of this:

Oh the nostalgia...

---------------------------

Not really thread related but i would like to share this, a remake of the NFS trailer on....well GTA V:

I hope the radio chatter is like this (Let's say the player is in a yellow Porsche:

If speeding past a cop: "Giving chase to a speeding vehicle, suspect is in a yellow Porsche"
Ramming a cop: "A racer just hit my cruiser, engaging pursuit"
While in a race: "Responding to the 10-95, in pursuit of multiple vehicles"
Ramming a roadblock: "Suspect pushed his way through the roadblock"
Evading spike strip: "Suspect evaded the spike strip, suspect still mobile"

These are the kinds of radio chatter we need during pursuits...

Pretty much this, an advance police chatter with huge depth of details.

I remember that once in MW2012, they called the Nissan GT-R Egoist just "an Egoist" ... like, really?! That's just the freaking name of the special edition, but not the make and model you 🤬!
I know. I liked how they called the SLR in MW 05 a McLaren instead of SLR, they usually said the make and sometimes the colour.

Honestly No cockpit view is pretty lame, and it's actually a missed opportunity since the game is all about "customization" There's no excuse not to have it, its 2015, we had cockpit cams for NFS1, 2, 3 ,4 ,5. I used them all the time. Imagine being able to customize the interior of your car and be in it. too bad NFS, someone else will beat em to it.

Another company which doesn't care about the 5% (hopefully a number of people get the reference... :sly:)

I believe that was only for the PC versions of almost all of those games. Probably wrong. Plus NFS Shift 1 and 2 had cockpit view for all available consoles except for the PSP version of NFS Shift 1. The only time we will probably get a NFS game with cockpit view is if its a professional styled NFS game like Shift.

Codies man...

Yep! The lack of Cockpit view in NFS isn't that big of an issue for me, I hardly ever use it when playing racing games, let alone in arcade racers. The field of view is restricted too much compared to other views.

To be fair, I would imagine the % of cockpit view users to be less than 5 in Need For Speed.
