THANK YOU! Someone had to bring this up. Moreover, this is only the first instalment of a franchise reboot so obviously it will be short on content and features. I am just grateful Ghost Games are taking the Need For Speed name back to the style of gameplay where popularity in the series peaked and even though it is not perfect, it is much better than carrying on from Rivals and has the potential to be improved in future releases.
First installments should be far from lacking, and it being a first installment is no reason to let it get some sort of pass just because of that.

I'll likely wait for it to hit the bargain bin. It's a sad day when I'd prefer to get Call Of Duty, rather then this. Fall Out is coming out soon as well. Sad thing is, is that it was high on my list for a game to pick up next week.

I am only giving this game a chance because Ghost Games plan on giving NFS 2015 free content updates over time which should hopefully resolve some of the customer complaints.

Yep. Willing to support the new developer and see what they can really do. They have alot of pressure on them. You can feel that the game was released early for the holiday season. Now that it will be on shelves, they can finish it and give us what we want.

...right, guys? guys?

Also another thing, if we don't support ghost with this game, then they are going to go with something different. Something away from the underground esque type game. Then if that game fails, the loop starts over with another studio, over and over again.

^^
I hope it's true, but I think Ben from Ghost Games said something about they won't be able to do it anyway.
About 2 weeks ago there was a statement like this I'm pretty sure.

But I really need that Manual Transmission when drifting!

I will be live streaming the game tonight at Midnight. If you are not getting the game yet and you want to watch it please come hangout in my Stream. I hope to see a lot of you tonight. Also if you need someone to play with on the game please add me PSN: BeAsT_Pk_RIPPER

Anyone up for predicting what score this game will get on Metacritic? I'm thinking somewhere in the region of 80-85.

Just remember that rivals had scores like 80 and it was buggy bug. I think that rivals deserved way less

I'm aware of that, the user scores tell a different story to the critic score. Other recent titles such as Hot Pursuit and Most Wanted 2012 actually did really well, I hope this receives that sort of recognition.

EDIT: Ok so maybe MW2012 didn't do so well...

The scores on metacritic don't mean much, you often see people reviewing the game based on something trivial and giving it a 0 score. Mainstream games with hype surrounding them tend to get harsh scores, more so from users but occasionally from smaller websites trying to gain traffic.

I don't see how this is practical, when you're doing top speed in a race, I'm pretty sure you'll be more focused on NOT crashing into what's in front of you than a small minimal at the corner of your screen.

Not really. You take a split second to look at the minimap, memorize the next 2-3 corners and go back to watching the road.

Whereas if you have blue lines on the actual road, you are more inclined to "follow" the line instead of actually "driving" the road and following proper racing lines and such. In fact, you can be so focused on the line you don't see traffic coming up.

Matter of fact, since this is a PS4 game they could replace the non-sensical arrow barriers with actual construction-style arrow barriers or spectator car blockade (see the original Fast & Furious street racing scenes to get what I mean). There's plenty of other more elegant and realistic ways of depicting navigation instead of painting the road surface with magical arrows.

But each to their own of course. That's why we need option to turn things on/off. EA's inability to give players options (along with AT/MT, cockpit view, online/offline, garage slots) is the epic fail part to me. Not necessarily the racing line itself.

I love it, we finally got a game that supposedly "all fans" have been asking for, now all those fans hate it. Best yet, we can actually make tasteful cars this time. Not something that was put together via the autozone clearance bin.

There's nothing tasteful about putting a monster GT wing on on a street car, or covering it with HOONIGAN stickers. At least they didn't put neons or spinners in the game.

This isn't the game most of us were hoping for, I don't think anyone was asking for no manual transmission, always online, limited visual options on most cars and phone calls every 5 seconds.

You quite literally focused on every negative aspect of the game (with a massive bias at that). How can anyone applaud your point when it's so single sided?

That's the beauty of what they did though. You don't have to put a giant wing on, or cover your car with hoonigan stickers though. Unlike underground where you have to inorder to progress through the game. Also the game is not always online, you can choose a solo mode. They are addressing the visual mods, not to sure about manual (but if the player actually wants to have fun and not be salty the whole time they'll make do). The phone calls is how they have the story set out, I'm sure there are more annoying ways other games have done it.

I see "Crew Play" as one of the main menu selections. Could this be the actual online lobby/free roam mode? Has anyone tried or is it locked until release day?

Sorry if this comes across as rude, but have you played the game yet?

Yes, it is. Even in a solo session you still have to be online. You literally cannot play this game unless you are connected to the internet. The visual mods were the main selling point of this game, they showed us the BRZ options in the original trailer and we all thought it looked amazing but the fact is the BRZ is literally the only car that has that depth in terms of the customisation. Some cars you can't even change the wheels! "deepest customisation ever seen".....

This game has potential but there's way too many issues with it to be considered great.

I'm still hyped for the game, even after all the "bad" news, this is the game I've been waiting for a long time. :)

In celebration of release week, have some GIFS:

Is being awhile since i posted here, some people wanted to take over the whole room and i decided to back off until we got some concrete information about this game like beta impressions (which i played) I don't know where to start i being playing need for speed since its 3d0 release back with road and track magazine, just to give guys a heads up before i start getting you don't know what need for speed is responses.

I seen a lot of people defending this "product" because that's what it is and is marketed and hyped to the extreme to create expectations like a new Kellogg cereal or a new style of sneakers.first of all ghost claims this game was made for fans and that answers question like why we can't customize this ,why do we have online always, where's manual etc.. the answer is right there they always start by saying the game WE wanted to make not the game the fans wanted to be made as a result we get a game not based on fans input, the you tubers, the whole fans theory, wake up guys is smoke and mirrors to pretend that they care is all developed in a board room full of suits.

We got for the first time in a need for speed game a console beta of a game that's being in development probably longer than any of the other titles in the series and I'm not gonna go into its flaws because we all know about them, this game feels like a fraud to the fans and it feels incomplete and designed to be a cash cow, from its map layout which they claim is bigger than rivals and by me playing and word of mouth this map is bigger than rivals just not yet.my biggest surprise came when i seen videos of the full version and this game is being development for two years and yet its still buggy and feels incomplete for example lets take the vinyl editor really we have to wait for a content update to get a basic feature in the game and yet the mirroring code is already implemented specially when you want all rims to be the same size ,colors and people are asking questions and all they do is we are investigating things.

One thing that bothers me is how they take all these pictures with camera tools and yet we don't have a *** photo mode! and they wanna capture the car culture and scene working with straight up car magazines and acts (speedhunters)... Facepalm/

I'm going to be watching this game as it evolves but as of now I'm not gonna support EA because guys the only way Need for speed can be a game again and not some ***ing over hyped product is without EA or corporate co***** if you guys got the game and are enjoying by all mean do so in the end the culprit here is EA not ghost or Criterion or Black box.EA knows that they make more money and profits on season passes and extra content then the core games so there's the future.

At least most, if not all of the DLC and updates will be free with no micro transactions. From what I've seen so far, the only things I really want implemented are manual, photo mode and less frequent phone calls. You are entitled to your opinion, and I am not saying you're wrong by any means, but for me this game looks pretty good. All I really want from it is to be immersive, full of customization and most of all, fun!
