That clip of the special cop is missing this song as background music:

In other news, I managed to slay Lambos and Ferraris the first time I completed all five races in a Speedlist

I feel like that's all people use in speed lists. Then I'm more than certain they get butthurtness if there's a car that isn't worth 100k at the front

It says "last free content update", but sounds like "last update at all". There is no any mentions of DLC packs in future, and they're focused on next NFS, so I guess no paid updates also.
The first paragraph with the speedlist didn't read like that, but then the following sentences seem to go back and forth

The SpeedList update will be our last free content update for this game.
We are now building upon the foundations that have been laid with Need for Speed and delivering our next game in 2017.
That’s not to say that we’re going quiet between now and then... far from it.

I wasn't expecting anything substantial from these free content updates anyways. It really showed that them being free is likely what held a lot back content wise. Customization got a good bump, but that is probably alot easier to work through than licensing actual vehicles.

"No more free updates" or Under The Hood #7
I feel like banging my keyboard because of this. But still it was a fun game but now we gotta focus on what the next NFS will be. I hope it focuses more on muscle cars because we haven't got a NFS game like that ever since Motor City Online.

Edit:
After reading Ben's post, looks like I was right. It was the free content that was holding them back. I should prepare my wallet for car packs and expansion packs.

I wouldn't mind more classic muscle cars in the next NFS. NFS was lacking them, heck there were some that are even popular in car culture that aren't in NFS 15 such as the Dodge Charger which was made popular by the Dukes of Hazard.

Here's my suggestions if the next NFS game is geared towards muscle cars:

- Obviously only muscle cars but divide it into different eras/classes.
- If there's customization, then it must be different depending on the muscle car you choose.
- The map must have different boroughs that caters to the car you're driving.
- Physics must be improved.
- Just like MCO, :embarrassed: it must have an auction system where players can buy another player's car.

That's about it but still I hope the next NFS focuses more on muscle cars.

Well in context of your post, I'm not sure how to simplify it. You ask for one group of cars, I prefer it to not be focused on one group of cars.
I see your point but then again, it's like saying that you didn't like the car list of Underground 1 where it only focused on cars that cater to import tuners. It could also apply to Porsche Unleashed if you say that you didn't like an NFS game where it focused on one brand, or group. Or better yet (not counting the bonus cars), you didn't also like NFS II's car list.

Just trying to analyze your context/post also.

It read to me like 'no new updates, period.'

Well, shucks. I mean, I can't fault them for moving on. They aren't in the video game business for their health. Gotta make money, and if the activity on this forum is any indicator, the return on investment with free updates was no longer worth it. Seems like an update comes out and gets people enthused for about two days, then everyone wanders off again. Ghost is in the business to sell games and if new updates don't generate any more enthusiasm and sales well... it's time to move on.

I am, of course, disappointed with the news. I feel like the nut-n-bolts of the game were about as good as they were going to get, despite others' dislike for the mechanics. What I feel is still needed are more cars and more customization content.

Unfortunately now that there are no more updates to look forward to, this game is really going to die off quickly.

Yes, that's exactly like saying that. Although did I mention somewhere that I did like those car lists?

Also, NFSU1 didn't focus on just one group of cars, because the word "import tuners" can cover so much. Although, it did primarily favor Japanese imports, but yes, I would prefer a broader range of vehicles.

My assumption is that they aren't ruling out paid updates/DLC inbetween the SpeedList Update and the release of their next game. I'm guessing they have some car packs in the pipeline as we speak.

I hope you're right. I wouldn't mind paying a little for a decent content update.

I don't know how financially successful NFS'15 was for Ghost Games, but it seems to me like it was a mission accomplished:

1) They made NFS franchise more relevant.
2) They brought NFS back to its (most critically acclaimed) roots
3) They gained a TON of valuable feedback on how to make a better game
4) They didn't go bankrupt

While I'm disappointed with the news, it does make me excited about what will come next. They may indeed be able to finally release a worthy successor to NFSU2!

I'm crossing fingers for that, but knowing EA, they're going to be sold as overpriced DLCs.

1. After the failure of Rivals... I can see where you're going.
2. Uhh... Hot Pursuit 2010 was the most critically acclaimed game in the series, and based itself off the first few games of the series.
3. Most certainly.
4. Most certainly.

I agree. This game was more like a successor to the first Underground than anything. It wasn't bad, just overhyped. I'm definitely wishing the best for Ghost, though, they took a massive gamble with this game.

Hopefully, they'll make some worthwhile car packs down the line but I expect them to be in the same price range as Rivals' weak DLCs.

Well that's to be expected. Most games are only supported around 6 months these days before the devs move on to the next one (I'm surprised Driveclub, PCARS & The Crew are supported for a lot longer). Ghost have done a lot of goodwill by giving us free updates instead of DLC whoring like past NFS games, so I'm pretty satisfied. Shame the base game itself isn't that good, and customization options are generally lacking (save for livery editor), and that's why it dies off quickly.

Still, it's a good base to build on. Improve the physics, add daytime, bigger map, more cars & parts and you'll have a winner for the next game 👍
