Exactly. Why are game devs pushing for "always online"?

That wasn't the devs' decision. Don't forget, EA owns the NFS franchise and Ghost are just a bunch of dudes paid by them to make the game, and make it on how they want it to be.

A simple online check when you first boot up the game would proabably suffice to check for piracy.
Exactly. They don't need to check your copy every 🤬 time you play the game, unless they plan on spying on you.

Maybe someone can create a petition for there to be an offline mode?

Always online reall makes no sense to me.

When it becomes available for Emulation in the far future and takes out the mandatory online, they pretty much have a better game than the actual model.

If they don't listen, we can boycott the game when it comes out by not buying it if it doesn't have an offline mode.

Ain't going to stop all the kids from buying it because they think they're getting a new Underground so they can get respect for their riced JDMs.

To be an 'effective' boycott we need more than a group of people on here. People are still likely to buy the game anyway if it doesn't have offline mode.

I thought AllDrive is meant to allow the online-only environment and offline singleplayer to coincide with eachother. Makes no sense Gamespot posts this up.

So basically if you want to play this game five years after it is released, you are pretty much screwed (as the servers will inevitably be taken down by then).

^ This sort of thing would suffice. I dread to think what the servers are going to be like on day one.

Well done EA...well done....that's the best feature we will ever have, like the best feature ever on games... on history! That feature made this game a must BUY! Really a MUST BUY!!! it's really awesome to have connected to online every time I want to play the game. Not even PD or Rockstar games or SMS will do that. Who cares about game play or soundtracks or graphics or story or cars when you had to connected to online every time? That gonna be awesome!! Screw you anti-EA Guys, I'm gonna buy lots of EA games including NFS 2015.

:rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes:

EA is always EA

This game looks like it will be somewhat similar to The Crew in terms of the always online component. The Crew forced you to stay connected, but you could play almost the entire game solo. The game easily could have supported an offline mode. This is different from, say, an MMO where player interactions make up the core gameplay, and without an internet connection the game would be unplayable.

So from those tweets posted earlier, it looks like NFS will probably work similarly. It will have multiplayer stuff, and also a single player "campaign" that you can play on your own. However you're forced to be online even if you just want to play solo.

I think the primary reason for this "feature" is for anti-piracy. That's great for EA's profits, but it sucks for players who have no/unreliable internet and for anyone who wants to play the game after the servers inevitably shut down years in the future.

When it comes to servers being shut down if this is as popular/good as Carbon was then I think we'll be safe. It's been 9 years since Carbon released and AFAIK the servers are still running...

There are dedicated servers for this game, but the internet connection only thing can't happen. Those without internet or crappy internet won't like it. I'm sooooo glad I upgraded my internet. :)

What will happen if I was playing it and then suddenly some thing gone wrong with my Internet connection? Or my Lan Cables got disconnected accidentally? Is that means that I might loss some progress just because of losing connecting to Internet?

Ugh..I was hyped when I heard the announcement back then but now that thing is gone....
