If you mean Nissan is the last name of the founder, the word is surname.

First off, you know the company didn't "die", right? DAT was the original company, then it was taken over by the founder's son (thus, Dat-sun). Nissan was a division created from Datsun.

I had a better link a week ago, but can't find it now. Somewhere buried in Google....

But the company Datsun never died, nor did it ever go away. The brand name was discontinued, but the company basically just changed its name.

By these standards, neither Eagle nor Geo died, either -- they just 'went away.' :)

Bristol Blenheim 3G

A US$200,000 car that runs on LPG. At least they're trying, but it could have been someone less obscure than Bristol. An interesting company, but refuses to move out of the 1970's. Well, almost.

New Mitsubishis

Click on the first image, the silver hatchback-looking thing. If I'm not mistaken, there's a badge on below the side mirror that says "V8". Is Mitz really putting a V8 in that tiny, Mad Max-meets-Mini Cooper hatchback? There's no information about it in the article, so it may just be a randomly-included concept. But if not, I hope AWD comes standard....

Bentley SUV
http://www.autoexpress.co.uk/front_...xpress.co.uk/news/evo_news_story.php?id=32422
Since Bentley is part of VAG, I can only assume that the platform used was the Cayenne/Touareg. Aside from the front grill & lights, it vaguely resembles the Touareg. But the owner is no surprise: the Sultan of Brunei. (More samples: http://autozine.kyul.net/article/brunei/sultan.htm) Apparently, the article mentions a Maybach 4x4 also. I'd imagine His Majesty is looking for a new Mercedes....

Two very interesting cars (this and the next). Bristol may make the least cool cars in the world (they haven't re-designed '70's body styles since the '70's), yet they charge $220,000 and get away with it, only because of the exclusivity. Think of it: Ford uses 1970's components and charges just $12,000 for a new Focus! What a deal.

When does the Bristol Fighter I've been hearing so much about finally debut?

A Bentley SUV and a Maybach SUV -- two more appropriate vehicles in a time when Porsche has one and Ford has no less than ten I cannot think of. Personally, as I thought for the Cayenne, it's a great move for Bentley, although not for the same reasons. Don't rappers want both Bentleys and ride height? Imagine one of them getting drunk and taking out an entire herd of deer, or a bus full of seniors.

Otherwise what's the market?

Last year. Actually, it should be due any week now. Yahoo! Cars has it listed:

The sketch image should be telling about it's acutal availability....

Given the Sultan's history, this seems like a one-off, much like the F550 wagon. ;)

It's the original concept sketch. :) Word has it that orders have been taken (though I can't remember where I read that...). Between the price and the company, I don't imagine that there are many on the road. All my searches keep returning the Bristol jet fighter instead.

BMW X3
http://www.channel4.com/apps26/4car/jsp/main.jsp?lnk=211&id=4691
It's not as though we didn't see this coming, but what I didn't see coming was the foolish design. I don't know if Bangle had anything to do with this, but to make a 3-series wagon look more RX300 than X5 takes effort. And I don't mean good effort. The, uh, option of the M3 engine sounds nice, though.

Murceilago targa
http://www.autoexpress.co.uk/front_...xpress.co.uk/news/evo_news_story.php?id=32511
(Not that we didn't see this coming, either.) VAG is calling this a cabriolet, but when less than 30 inches of a car's roof is open, it's either a sunroof or a targa. What would really have been interesting is if they did a true convertible: all the way back past the engine. Imagine exposing that sonorous V12 to the open air! Still, it's nice to know that the open-top Lambo won't lose much in the way of structural rigidity.

Are you sure you don't like this thing? It's got 'the future of BMW' written all over it.

Chevrolet Blazer [Brazil]

norm_20_Blazer_Brazi.jpg

The front-end kinda resembles to Kia's new Sorento SUV , and I like this body-style better than the US vers.

Isuzu AUV (Asian Utility Vehicle) [Southeast Asia]
Isuzu Panther [Indonesia]
norm_10_Panther_Touring_Indonesia.jpg

Isuzu Crosswind [Philippines]
norm_1_Crosswind_Philippines.jpg

They are not particular SUVs, they're tall and narrow wagons posing to be like SUVs that seats 7-10 pass. with RWD only. But these vehicles are very popular in Southeast Asia.

Miitsubishi Airtrek [Japan] (aka. Outlander [US])
norm_1_Hong_Kong.jpg

norm_20_Turbo-R_Japan.jpg

This version has a Turbo model (200+hp) unlike its US counterpart. :(

SsangYong Rexton [Korea]/Daewoo Rexton [Europe]

norm_20.jpg

This vehicle has some of MBZ parts in it. :odd:

Toyota Land Cruiser 90 [Europe]/Prado [Japan]
norm_10_TX_2700_Japan.jpg

norm_14_Land_Cruiser_90_D-4D_Eu.jpg

This IS the real twin to the Lexus GX470 (not the 4Runner). :)

I can't say how cool this is. What I can say, though, is that it's not worth US$100,000. It's got more power, sure, thanks to a well-tuned engine, but it's stripped down considerably. It's not the power that makes it fast, but the lack of weight. Okay, I can accept a $10-15,000 premium over a Carrera to make up for the tuning and suspension work, $40,000 is way too much. Of course, I'd still buy one if I could.

Motor Trend's Crystal Ball
http://www.motortrend.com/future/spied/112_2004fvf/
Nothing we didn't already know, but they do mention a 371HP Audi S4 (rather than 343HP), and the Audi allroad with a V8. They also seem to think the BMW 1-Series will come to be, along with the M1 (which may very well be my next car...). Buick makes more heinous cars.... Chrylser CS looks too boring to mention. ;) New 300N, though, with that HEMI gets a plus. Speaking of Hemi's, the Charger -- and Charger R/T HEMI -- is coming back. (I love saying that: HEMI!!!) For some reason, Duesenberg is returning from the dead; not sure why...maybe because of Maybach? But that market is shrinking, isn't it? (Oh, hush up with your recession talk!) And a Hummer H3. Bleh. * For those who remember the Elise roundup talks last week, MT says the Elise will make it to US shores anyway -- as in, in Lotus showrooms. :D Merc SLR is nice; has the looks the SL55 feels, no doubt. Winter date set for Lancer Evo.... Picture of the 350Z convertible looks like the Ford StreetKa, doesn't it? Pontiac GTO will indeed be a rebadged Holden. So much for originality. Subaru not only trumps Mitz, but beats them to the punch with a fall release for the WRX STi. :D And, uh, the VW W12 coupe might be made after all. (But is that a good thing?)

Jaguar: Gay?

Perhaps the E-Type was pointed in the wrong direction after all. ;)

Maserati SUV
http://www.autoexpress.co.uk/front_...xpress.co.uk/news/evo_news_story.php?id=32595
Lamborghini SUV, Ferrari SUV, Bentley SUV, now Maserati SUV. What's next? A Porsche SUV? Oh, wait.... Looks like they used the same recipe for the Cayenne, anyway.

Bristol Speedster
http://www.autoexpress.co.uk/front_...xpress.co.uk/news/evo_news_story.php?id=32576
That. Just. Looks. Nice. Part Morgan, part Cobra: a total retro topless/muscle car/whatever it is. Damn I wish I could afford Bristol.

Baby Lambo
http://www.autoexpress.co.uk/front_...xpress.co.uk/news/evo_news_story.php?id=32519
A bit like the F360, but certainly a Lamborghini. Nice, but I would hope that the next promo shots aren't in that lime green they keep using.
