i thought they were followers of the pope...

didnt Jesus say I am the way, the truth, and the life; no man cometh unto the father but by me?

then why do catholics use priests to pray to God when born again christians saved by the blood of Christ pray directly to God because of what Christ did for them?

Just because the Catholic church has different traditions and a different structure than other christian churches doesn't mean that they are any less christian.

And about the Anti-Christ, Marilyn Manson is the poser antichrist for angry teenagers, this is what the real anti-christ looks like:

Hadrian IV, Benedict XI, Julius II, Sixtus IV, Julius III, to name some...

Quite a few popes did have very active hetero/homo/bi-sexual lives, and had childrens too.

I didn't know that. Interesting information.

I guess the reason why the church elected a strong anit-homosexual Pope this time was a reaction to what happened here in the US with Catholic priests. I can understand their motives, but think they could do a better job than electing a Pope who discriminates.

Depressing for homosexuals? Pah!

Sure, it sucks. But until someone walks into my bedroom and legally clubs me and partner to death, I could give a spit less what some dodgery old coots in funny hats think about me.

People are always going to be against something you do. If you can get by with a shrug and roll of the eyes, there's no need to worry about it. Especially if you're like me: a spiritually unassigned hethen. 👍

Maybe YOU don't care, but what do the other thousands of homosexuals think? I think that's what's kinda cool about forums and whatnot, that you get such a big cross-section of people, but not always an accurate representation, unfortunately. Certainly it may be true that you don't care, but by saying that to the people of the forum, some may get the idea "Hey, maybe NONE of them care." I'm not trying to...berate you or anything, I'm just reminding our viewers at home things aren't always as they appear. ...Or something like that. :D

Gotta love controversy. (sp?)

i hate homosexuality, not the homosexual
i hate the sin, not the sinner
i respect the sinner, and kindly rebuke the sin

Well since no homosexual is religious (that would be a bit weard:irked: ) they should see it as another man that's against them, from the other 6 billion people that live here. They shouldn't care, and what's the point of a pope when he agrees on everything?!

I wouldn't care too much about the popes opinion, it's just an opinion, although he represents millions of people, they probably already thought about it that way long before this man became pope:tup:

Edit: so I agree with Ten:tup:

i know a lot of religious homosexuals, i knew a homosexual reverend and wasn't there the openly gay priest in the USA who caused a lot of controversy within one of the american churches lately!?

besides, the biggest german political party is the christian democratic union, in the USA the president is highly religious and even if they don't follow any orders from rome, their politics are influenced by lots of christian thoughts. so even an atheist can't avoid religion.

Yeah your right in that, but well..........yeah I guess it just sounded weard:idea:

I get the point, that there are many out there that likely DO care. Perhaps I should've checked my wording. Either way, christianity has hated homosexuals since it's roots. Expecting that to change in your lifetime is nothing short of madness, imho.

If it bears a cross, it's against my beliefs. I've grown to accept this. But signs such as homosexual priests and plain church-going queers shows me that there is little to worry about. What can they do? Some of us follow the word, and no one is "perfect", so what's the problem? What have we to worry about? There's nothing the church can do to stop us from loving whom we choose. Marriage, maybe. Give that time.

Depressing for homosexuals? Perhaps the closeted christians, but not I.

I don't hate homosexuals, I don't have a problem with them at all, I do dislike fags. I seriously dislike feminine men who prance around in Amsterdam half naked in pink leather shorts with their butt cheeks sticking out. Homosexuality doesn't bother me until people stick it in my face like that. Whatever people do in their bedroom isn't any of my business, but just... keep it there. I don't like that some gays are trying to make homosexuality into a trend, "it's cool to be gay".... no it isn't. You're gay, or you aren't. It's simple as that.

Surely then, if homosexuality in public is frowned upon, heterosexuality in public should be too?

If it's done in an extravagant way it doesn't display much class and dignity either, so that should be frowned upon as well. 2 Men walking hand in hand in casual clothes don't bother me, leather pink thongs and references to a penis every 5 seconds do.

Many homosexuals hate fags too.

Not unless lots of old homosexuals start writing into PMs saying it is disgusting seeing guys and gals kissing and going to the movies together then no.

IMO our generation is very accepting of homosexuality (maybe a little too much. Danny do you have a dozen or so girls in your year claiming to be homo/bi yet?). It is the older generations that have a problem.

Example, a local theatre (That my sisteris a member of) put on a play feturing a homosexual pair and a few 'scenes' (nothing that bad). Half the old biddys walked out.
[EDIT]

What about a hetrosexual making a passs at every hot women he sees walking down the highstreet? Does that demonstrate class? Or gettig you window down as you rev you Ferrari infront of a group of women?

I can see your point, smelly.

I guess I'm a bit "feminine" myself. I don't do anything you listed, really, but I do have my "gestures". Like the way I brush my hair back from my eyes, or how I sit (legs crossed), or how I stand against a wall, etc.

Trendy faggotry (as it's called around here) is annoying. But that's an opinion of yourself and my own. I don't wish for it to be silenced, but I will say it's a bit degrading of homosexuals to sell the image of being one.

I sleep with a man. That doesn't mean I'm obsessed with penises and pink leotards. Thanks for the stereotype. (not aimed at you, smelly, but instead the "fags" that you refer to)

What I always think when I see gays on tv (about 90% of the tv hosts in my country are gay) is that they are playing some type of character when they have those "gestures". Or the way they talk. I always get the idea that they do that to be able to be accepted by the other gays.

I might be wrong, but that's the idea I got throughout the year observing them.

The stereo type is really created by a lot of gays though, and that's the provocating type that annoys me. I don't know if you ever say footage of the yearly gay parade in Amsterdam, but that really disgusts me when I see it on tv. I guess their provoking behaviour is succesful with me.

I don't know whether you've ever been to Italy, well I was and the level of heterosexual testosteron in the air disgusted me as well. I went to Rome with school and constantly cars would drive by with 30 year old men whistling at girls (who were about 16 years old) in my class. That disgusted me and I'm not even a girl.

that stereotype is mostly spreaded by straight people...99% of the TV programme is made for heterosexuals. so most of the gay people on TV are presented in the gayest manner in order to make it easier for the straight people to spot them...TV has to meet the stereotypes because the audience mostly wants to see something they already know so that they don't have to think and see themselves supported...

apart from that, the yearly gay parades are only a reaction to the discrimination and suppression that the homosexuals had to deal with over the last...well, thousands of years...if straight people would not had made such a big deal about it, gay parades would have never been organized. i am gay, but i don't particularly like them either. i don't mind "fags" though, because they don#t hurt me and everybody can do whatever he wants as long as he does not hurt anyone.

Maybe that's what it is like in Germany (that's where you are from, right?), but over here in the Netherlands the television is mostly controlled by gay people.

The time of suppression of gays isn't really relevant anymore here either. Sure, not everyone likes gays, but not everyone likes Moroccans here either. Doesn't mean we have a Moroccan parade.

Same point I'm trying to make over in the "kid gets kicked out of school for make up whatever" thread. I may think he looks goofy, but that's his choice. What he does is up to him. I may think it's dumb, but I won't make a fuss out of it just because I don't agree with it. If he shot me in the face, that'd be a different story. Different, yes, but it'd still have nothing to with the make up.

No no, I wasn't implying that you did. I keep on typing "homosexuals" instead of "homosexuality" out of habit. My bad. ^^;

in the end that does not matter...whats the point in being homosexual when you don't have sex with someone of the same sex?

You don't have to have sex with a member of the opposite sex . And no, I'm not being sarcastic. Could be a traumatic experience in one's life. *shrugs*

Also, what's pretty funny is that this thread has nothing to do with the Pope anymore, it's just about homosexuality. lol
