dranddad only posted to pics to show of his amazing time in the ferrari at high speed

That's not a ferrari. That was his best lap in the WRS this week in the Tamora. But I agree with you about the pics.

 Amazing yes Stephen, amazingly slow it’s a well know fact that I am one of the worst with the Ferrari F2007, the proof is in the picture. :sly:

Nice to see you still about Stephen. 👍

Hi, I am new to the WRS, is there a thread with all the rules posted etc?

If not, would someone mind giving me a run down? Sorry to be a pain.

Welcome, scaramanga.

The first thing you have to do is do a qualifying time-trial (https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/showthread.php?t=111987). This is where you use the Mazda RX7 on Fuji, do as many laps as you want, and then submit your best laptime (the aim should really be to achieve a natural time, and not one which you spend 100 laps practicing on). After submission, you will be placed into a GTP division.

GTP Divisions: https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/showthread.php?t=111988

Once you have been placed into a division, you can then take part in the 'Weekly Race Series' (not races; just time-trials). For each week, a car/track combo is chosen for everyone to do laps with. At the end of the week, you submit your best lap. There is also a leaderboard which everyone can update throughout the week: http://wrs.gtplanet.net/week/95/ . The divisions do not compete separately; they are all mixed together for competition (have a look at the leaderboard).

Each week's time-trial event has its own thread (This week's thread: https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/showthread.php?t=129989). If you post your laptime (or sometimes only split times allowed with no final laptime), then an automated-bot will fetch your time and update the leaderboard.

Many thanks guys.

I am going to set up a new PSN GTP ID when I get home from work then get to work on my qualification lap.

I will post my new PSN ID here when it is done.

EDIT: My PSN ID is GTP_scaramanga

Hi, I've just signed up for the WRS, as GTP_Renesis. I've been dabbling with GT since GT2, then back-tracked to GT1. Always love cars, and now work in motorsport. I'm hoping joining the WRS will help me learn and improve my driving ahead of GT5's release.

Looking forward to getting properly stuck in next week.

Good to have you on board, welcome to the WRS mate

What kind of work do you do in motorsports, if you don't mind me asking?

All the best
Maz

Hi guys. I just joined the WRS. I figured I should, since GT5 is just around the corner. I wanted to find a group of good clean racers so I can get in some good lobbies come November.

Nice to meet you all.

Welcome to WRS gman, hope you have fun here with us. 👍

Must be related to Mazda in any form :)

Actually, no, as it happens.

I do computational fluid dynamics for aerodynamic development, mostly on racing cars but I do other things, much of which I cannot discuss in public. Most of my work relates to the Virgin Racing VR-01, but I also did work on the HPD (Acura) ARX-01 LMP2 car, on the upgrade from 01b to 01c. Seems to have worked quite well :sly:

My passion for rotary engines stems from a long time back; the most I did was a 3D CAD model/render/animation of one at university.

Linkage to those cars please? :D

hi me is acidburns, i think Driving-Aids should be turned off by all times like in any racecar !

I find it hard to understand why members have a fixation with anybody wanting to use aids if they so wish, why should they turn them off when they are there to help you enjoy the game.

You only have to look at F1 cars, rally and touring cars, they all have more gismos than you can shack a stick at, plus a lot of standard road cars now a days, it’s the world we live in.

Please try to refrain from telling others how to set up their car for their own enjoyment of the game.

With that said welcome to WRS, hope you have fun and enjoy this great weekly race series.

Phillip.

It was just an idea because I'm a fan of realism, I did'nt know touring cars use driving-aids (and why should I write I in capital-letters ? :irked:)

Most cars of today have some sort of driving aid of some description from ABS, power steering electronic chips, fuel injection, traction control the list goes on and on, or we could go back to the model T Ford.

The point is this is a electric / digital game and some of the members find that the only way they can enjoy playing it is to use the aids provided, ABS, TC and so on, as their abilities are not that of some of our division 1 members.

I commend you for not using any of the aids, like ABS, TC and others, I think if you can drive and keep up with any of the division 1 drivers without using ABS at all you are brilliant.

But I think a better statement would have been.

Hi I’m acidburns, I like to drive without using any driving aids at all.

Driving some of these cars without ABS1 and or no TC deserve 10 /10 👍

Hi and welcome to the WRS.

It's required that you use proper grammAr, spelling and use capital letters where required. There is a high standard set around here with reguards to posting and its what sets GTP from the rest.

Hope you have fun and enjoy 👍

Given that most of the cars in prologue are standard manufacturers cars, many will have TCS and ABS on anyway (not to mention clutch and H-shifter ;) )

(and why should I write I in capital-letters ? :irked:)

Because you agreed to the AUP that I referenced when you signed up for an account here, and you need to follow it if you wish to remain a member.

I chose the friendly route, by not immediately issuing you an official warning or infraction. Don't make me regret that decision.

Hi and welcome to the WRS.

It's required that you use proper grammer,

Steven, it's not constructive to highlight this considering the context of this conversation. Someone genuinely making a typo or spelling mistake is considerably different to another person deliberately questioning the terms of the AUP.

All the best

Hey guys, I'm new to the WRS, and I can't wait for GT5!
Joining the WRS seemed like a good idea, since I like TT's and I want to improve my driving skill.

Hi, I'm scope72.

This will be my first week racing and submitting a time, even though I've been secretly running against your times for a while now. Yes, I am a WRS racing lurker. :ouch:

But I finally submitted a qualifying lap. And now I'll try and keep up. :scared:
