I am a bit of a newbie too, I think... on GT4 I only have 11.7% complete...:grumpy:
Anyways...

If you have any problems, consult this thread.
I check back daily so I will be able to answer your problems (be it I can).

Good luck :gtpflag: users!

EDIT: I messed up the title. Only GT4.
Sorry guys.

Well, exactly what problems are you personally having?? Being stuck at 11% means that you aren't getting too far in many places. :sly:

Let's fix your issues. :)

It's tough being a new member trying to fix problems for an online board that's mostly full of GT veterans. :indiff:

Good luck anyways, superspeed.

Thanks, Parnelli.

Well...
I have been playing GT4 a lot but i only recently got the international b...
so my progress wouldn't be too good anyways...
AND I try to use certain cars so...

Oh well...

EDIT:And I am currently working on the international a... seems tricky though...

That's cool. Maybe at some other websites you'd have a hoard of requests by now, but GTP's GT4 section is pretty much n00b free for the most part. Anyways, good luck, as I said. I bet you a dollar by the end of this week, you'll be asking us some questions instead of the other way around. :sly:

I'm interested since you're only just beginning to tackle the IA license...

...how long have you had GT4?

If you're spending all your time trying to perfect the licenses with gold times, I wouldn't advise that; go through the game and perfect your racing lines, entry speeds, etc...and then go back to the license tests.

If that's not the problem then what's going on? :dopey:

I have had GT4 for a few years, but I was mostly playing Rock Band.:sly::dopey:

ok...

slowman:

I do not have the internotional A license!!!

EDIT:I am not excatly very *cough* good at GT4...
But I am getting better.
I now have 12.3% complete.

I'm still trying to find the point of your thread here superspeed. If it's to get your problem sorted, I've already offered to help since you say the FAQ's don't answer everything. :) And you're going to get some sarcastic offers (like slowman just did  ) because you're not exactly giving us the info to help us or to help you.

Like Parnelli said, most of the GT4 guys are very experienced and would easily teach you what to do to improve and gladly do so. Otherwise, check out the mission & licence forum to get more tips on how to complete your IA & S licences. Trust me dude, the world of GT4 only truly opens up once you've passed 25% because you can start endurance racing, or finishing all your beginner & professional events so you can race in extreme. ;)

Just food for thought.

I see what you mean.

EDIT:I've been working on the special conditions events, and I need some help on the dirt tracks. Got any tips?

I didn't mean to offend if I did, superspeed.

I'm far from the only person here that knows the game in and out. I've completed it 8 times, and am now on my 9th savegame. It never gets old simply because of the amount of cars available. Some of us know what desireable used cars are available on what days without consulting a guide.

I know every track, every apex, every braking point. Most of us here have been playing Gran Turismo games since at least GT3. A few of us even go back to Gran Turismo 2 (myself) or the original Gran Turismo.

I guess what I'm saying is no matter how much you think you know, there's someone that knows more. I don't even really consider myself knowledgeable compared to some people here. Honestly compared to some here I'm a novice at the game.

Cheers though, enjoy your time on the boards. :)

You didn't offend.

In fact, I go back to GT1 myself.
And something I don't understand: Understeer has became a bigger problem throughout the GT series.:indiff:

EDIT:Yes, this counts as a question, Paranelli.:bowdown::cheers:

I think superspeed showed here with a few notches on his fenders, and expected this forum would be full of a bunch of n00bs. Then, he would instruct these n00bs about the 12.3% he's accomplished so far. Am I right?

I've sent you a PM, superspeed....

Ehh...not excatly.

I was pretty sure i wouldn't get many people, so...

And it's 13% now

EDIT:I'll check my PM's then.
I sent a PM to you Parnelli.

I'd like to say that we shouldn't be too hard on someone who just wants to be helpful to the new forum he joined.

I'm going to leave my original comment up though for it's snarkiness and comic timing value. :sly:

No, it's ok, you can be as hard on me as you want.:dopey:

Better him being hard on you than me....I'm not as P.C. about things. :P

Okay, re: Special conditions.......a question and some tips.

a) What track is giving you problems? I'm going to assume Cathedral Rocks.

b) Practice on Costa Di Amalfi Easy, keep winning and claiming the prize car (Toyota RSC Rally Car) which you can sell for over 250k a pop.

c) Use a decent performing AWD car to get around most of the cars in the easy & normal categories. An Impreza STi Spec-C will do that (or a Lancer Evo 8 MR), and if you're good enough just add nitrous and try and defeat them all on Hard aswell. ;)

Actually...all dirt tracks.
I haven't bought snow tires yet.
And I get the rally raid car and sell it.

So... I'm just fine except for the dirt tracks.

I already PM'd you some of this stuff.

I found the '92 Evo to be a great car to learn dirt tracks with. STis are good too, but somewhat trickier....more oversteerish; sometimes you'll need parts & settings to solve their issues. Audis are good but heavier. If you drive an Audi, start with one of the all-wheel drive hatches (the S3). Otherwise, any Evo will do, but the '92 from the used car lot just feels like it was made for off-road tracks.. You won't need any special settings or devices. You can even race them stock or nearly so.

Best part is: this earliest Evo (the '92) understeers like mad on paved courses, but (like I said) travels off-road in a more balanced, neutral manner. Braking into corners can be minimal (compared to other cars), THEN you can crank the steering hard. Get sideways. Mid-corner, as soon as you see an opening, plant the gas. They generally pull out of their slides with the least issues. :D

Is the '92 Evo only available from the used cars lot?
If it is, we have a major problem.:indiff::ill::scared:
EDIT:Nevermind about the Evo.

Yup, the '92 Evo is available in Used Cars I. I can't tell you what days it appears though because I don't remember. Fantastic car. In fact, I quite like the first 3 Evo's. I and III in particular. I'm not a fan of IV, V, and VI but I do like the VII's and VIII's.

If you feel up for a challenge, buy and then change the oil in an Evo III. Take it to the Japan Championship in the Japanese Events. You'll be facing some more modern and powerful Japanese production cars but it can be done with no mods. Try to get a line-up without an NSX-R because it'll wipe the floor with you.

The Evo's all have great torque down low and short gear ratios. You can almost always pull out of any corner a gear higher than you think. 1 less shift for you to make, and that's at every turn all around the course! If a shift takes a quarter of a second and you're on a track with 12 turns than that is 3 whole seconds you're picking up by doing this!

I've got the Evo.
Lucky me.:dopey::D

EDIT (off topic...?): I'm playing GT4.
I have a small table with a laptop on it in front of the TV.:dopey:

I am having problems with my Evo on dirt. :(

I'm going to play the devils advocate here and suggest that the better off-roader is the Subaru Impreza WRX. Specifically, the "bug-eyed" model ('99-'02?). For me, since the ride is smoother and carries a lot more bounce than the Evo, I find it easier to control going into corners and sliding through them. In fact, I haven't even needed to fit a VCD to correct understeer, unlike most GT4 4WD cars. Only thing I've fitted is a * Sports suspension and fully customisable transmission to stiffen the suspension a tad for road racing, get faster acceleration for the rally stages and a racing chip. If you can pick a bug eye Scooby up, I recommend you at least give it a quick run around before resigning to the Evo 👍

*Edit: D'oh, completely cocked that up :/

I have an Impreza, but I'm not sure it's the one you mentioned.

Fond memories of this car. Did the Sunday Super Speedway race in GT3 about 30 times to get this, and I went through pretty much every race it's eligible for. Clocked up more miles than all my other cars combined :D

In GT4, the feeling is a bit softer, however, so it can feel a bit sluggish and unresponsive at high speed. But dropping into second in Tsukuba, lifting off, flooring it and powering out WRC style never gets old 👍

Well at this point, if you're having problems with off-road racing in either an Evo or an STi, it ain't the car's fault. :indiff: Those are (hands down) the best cars to use on a budget. My guess is you're taking corners too fast, and then sliding out of control. That's the number 1 mistake off-road novices make.

I already PM'ed you the solution (as I see it) in detail. so I won't bore the rest of the board with them. Good luck....I bet within a day or two, if you keep at it, you'll start to get it.

Watch some youtube footage of GT4 rallying (and also real-life rallying) to get an idea of what you should be doing.

Mine dosen't look anything like that.
