Next Iconic Racing Figure for GT6?

I definately have to go with AJ Foyt like @Snaeper said, It seems most people are just looking at people who were great at one form of driving, it should go to people who mastered many forms of racing and excelled at them all, and just had the true passion for racing
Well those who are a master of a single profession are no less worthy. But I will say that just because there was a driver who was great at a single motorsport may not necessarily mean he needs to be in the game. Not that we know what PD looks at in choosing and pursuing a driver.

I think great drivers who inspired others or changed the sport or accomplished a great deal either in a single sport or multiple should be the ones highlighted.

Just because one past champion has been remembered for so long may not mean he's worth including, otherwise you'd open the flood gates for anyone who won anything.

Dale Earnhardt, the best American driver to lose his life (And arguably the best ever to die racing)
Arguably is right. And this is coming from a massive Dale Earnhardt fan.

won Bathurst by 6 laps in 1979

Looking at the car list and the history of PD and their rather close relationship, I would bet Nobuhiro Monster Tajima.

I've met this guy several times, and he is an absolute class act. I remember hearing him say 'my car is the fastest on Gran Turismo!' with a smile on his face. His cars have already been in every GT game since 2 (excluding GT5p) and I feel he would be a great fit.

Keiichi Tsuchiya, the man who popularized drifting brung it out into the mainstream with the introduction of D1GP. Not only that but he has a great racing career in All Japan/JGTC and LeMans, not too many great multi-motorsport icons out there but he is definately one of them :)

premimum version of his personal 86, his trd n2 86 and various other tsuchiya driven cars would be great as a dlc, i would pay for it.

Some other legendary drivers that did well in multiple forms of motorsport besides Andretti:

Tazio Nuvolari
Stirling Moss
Graham Hill
Jim Clark
AJ Foyt
Alberto Ascari
Juan Manuel Fangio

The most influential, in my mind, has to be Tazio Nuvolari. For he was often credited as being one of the first racing drivers to use the 4 wheel drift technique, along with his stunning performance at the 1935 German GP, his many other victories in different types of races, and the impact he had on the history of Alfa Romeo and Ferrari. Always fought for the win even when against seemingly impossible odds, continuing to race (on some occasions, even winning) with broken legs, broken ribs, or a detached steering wheel. He was the very essence of relentless determination. Everybody can learn a thing or two from him. Also, some of the cars he drove would be awesome inclusions. :sly:

Stirling Moss along with some very early GP cars and because Mille Miglia, would be an awesome way to introduce real point to point GT races.

Gan San also known by his original name Motoharu Kurosawa:

John Surtees.

And if it is just about the first love of cars.

Jay Kay or Nick Mason would be people with the right amount of car love.

I don't really know much about Allan Simonsen, but maybe a little tribute to his passing in the 2013 Le Mans with some GT3 cars?

My Dad used to work at Vandervells where they made the Vanwall racing car (they used to have one parked out the front of the factory till it was sold off...), so I would have to go with Stirling Moss driving a Vanwall for that reason. :sly:

But other than that, I think it would be a good idea to mix the types of racing or driving. I would go with the "Monster" guy above whos name I cant spell, the drifting guy Kai thingy mentioned elsewhere and then Stirling Moss as another F1 driver.

And I think this is still a great concept if they do it right which I have faith they will do this time. Honest. :nervous:

Would love to see PD work some magic here......

ooooooh weeeeee.....S Double!!!

So many worthy drivers for different styles and times that if you take any then others get shorted.

man...it would be so cool to have a mode where she could instruct and educate every single section of the ring. She is a real master driver.

I want Dai Y. or even better Keiichi Tsuchiya to teach people the basics of drifting instead of having the stupidity of the GT5 drift point system.

They should have the Drift Bible as an into video to drifting, OR it could be played out in game!

If we really get more, I could imagine Walter Röhrl (the proper cars are in the game :D).

Just not the ones he won the WRC with. That being...

Fiat 131 Abarth (1980)
Opel Ascona 400 (1982)

He only ever won 2 rallys in an Audi Quattro.
