Next Iconic Racing Figure for GT6?

@Jarnac - What Johnny meant was, "iconic auto racing personality". Auto racing is defined as, "Auto racing (also known as car racing, motor racing or automobile racing) is a sport involving the racing of automobiles for competition." Wiki.

Give it up sunshine!

@Jarnac That's you that is! ;)

Well, it's Johnny's thread. lets ask him what he had in mind shall we! @Johnnypenso - What do you think Johnny, is Valentino Rossi a good choice? Is that the kind of person you had in mind when you made this thread?

PS: I have no "fear of bikes", don't know what you're on about there. I actually like Moto GP & used to watch it a lot, & my favourite rider was Valentino Rossi. I just don't think that a bike rider belongs in a car game is all. Anyone else agree?

Jim Clark - if we can have his Lotus Cortina and Ford Galaxie in the game.
Stirling Moss - he won races in more makes of car than probably any other driver in history - I think he said it was around 80. He would often win in several different types of car in a single weekend. I would like his Mille Miglia winning Mercedes Benz 300SLR in the game, plus the Maserati 250F, Vanwall and W196 Mercedes - then we would have F1 cars with straight 6, 4 and 8 cylinders. Add the V16 BRM that he and Juan Manuel Fangio drove for maximum entertainment, especially if they could get the sound right!

Valentino is more than just a bike racer though, he is reasonably successful in GT cars and rallying as well as almost landing a drive with Ferrari in Formula 1. More important than all of that is that he is a huge motorsport personality with a massive fanbase, having him in the game would persuade some people to buy the game.

Just not the ones he won the WRC with. That being...

Fiat 131 Abarth (1980)
Opel Ascona 400 (1982)

He only ever won 2 rallys in an Audi Quattro.
Yes, but that's the car he's associated with in everyone's mind.
Also, don't forget the Pikes Peak Quattro.

I'm actually surprised the Porsche fan boys haven't jumped on this band wagon and suggested Ferdinand Porsche in hopes that would also mean one or more Porsches (besides the Beetle and RUFs) would be added with it. Lost case maybe lol

Taki Inoue! A Formula One legend although not in the conventional sense. Also an amazing personality to follow on Twitter. AKA The guy who was hit by the medical car in the 1995 Hungarian GP and by a marshal car at Monaco.

Not the most well formulated line of argument, must be the fear of bikes.
lol.

The argument was poor, but I have to agree that Rossi would be a pretty silly addition, given the fact that his fame is built entirely on the back of motorbike racing, and since tourist trophy, which was almost a minigame in terms of size/detail, PD/GT haven't catered to motorbikes at all.

If they put him in, they'd have to include a motorbike element to the game in some way, or they'll piss off everyone that buys it because he was in it.

I can't stop anyone from putting forth any candidate no matter how inappropriate. I can think of a thousand guys from motor racing that would be more appropriate but if someone wants a motorcycle rider to represent a driving game that's their choice...no matter how silly it is.. Silly as in there's a contest for prettiest movie star and you vote for Sandra Bernhard

So someone who is 'reasonably successful' should be given "Iconic Racing Figure Status" in the auto racing world? Seriously! Almost getting a drive in an F1 car makes a person a legend in your eyes does it? I remember seeing him doing a rally & binning it on stage 1, did he actually win any? He is a huge motorsport personality in the bike world, there's no doubt about that, but not in the car racing world. If GT games start to include motorbikes & change their tagline to, "The Real Driving & Riding Simulator" then maybe he should be added, but until that time, I think not.

Of course a few Monza rally wins don't make him a legend in cars but his status as a legend on two wheels can't be overlooked. If he was in Gran Turismo it would be great PR for the series and would sell games, after all that's why Sony and PD make video games.

I disagree. You wouldn't get a soccer player to promote a rugby video game, would you? You wouldn't get a baseball player to promote a hockey video game, would you? Likewise, I can't see any logic in getting a bike rider to promote a car racing game. If they had him promote a Moto GP game, then that would make sense.

Conformist.

Conformist.

When you can't win an argument by sound reasoning, resort to name calling!

As I might have mentioned before, I can't see any logic or sense to either yours or GOTMAXPOWER's points of view, so we'll just have to agree to disagree. End of conversation.

This isn't your website and you're not a moderator, so your saying 'end of' is of little importance - the same applies to your lack of understanding another's point of view.
You are a conformist because you expect the future to fit the pattern you expect from the past.

I simply can't believe that there are people arguing about Rossi and bikes on a car game. It's ridiculous.

I guess that bikers are desperate for attention, since there aren't anything like GT to them.

The day that PD put bikes on GT is the day that the series is dead.

well, considering that some people said Keiichi Tsuchiya, they could bring some of the other regular drivers on the Best Motoring videos, so we could make Tsukuba Battles.

I sure wouldn't mind if Colin McRae was featured along with Senna and Andretti. Those three would make the dream trio of motorsports on four wheels.

If, by "content", they mean, among other things, cars, I can already now imagine myself taking McRae's '95 Impreza to the Eiger Nordwand K Trial every day. Particularly if said track has been updated to also include time and weather change. Speaking of change, if they, to add icing on the cake, used the opportunity to turn the current (very pale) '99 Focus WRC into the S9 FMC, also known as Saffy, I'd definitely need a new set of pants every time I play GT6.
