Next Iconic Racing Figure for GT6?

I'll second Colin McRae 👍

Jerome

Evidence in support of your claim?
;)

All the races by the following championships:

F1, Indy, all Nascar divisions, V8 Supercars, WEC, all 24 hours races, Pikes Peak, Blancplain Series, Super GT, Fia GT, WTCC, BTCC, Moto GP (there aren't cars there either), Rally, DTM, Superbike (same as MotoGP), F-E, F3, World Series, GP2...

Not much of a successful race car driver but a big time force in the tuner/aftermarket and his cars have been in GT games since GT2.

Steve Saleen. Maybe include the Saleen Indy car

Max Chilton. He's a legend because he just completed all races of the 2013 F1 season. We'll just look over the small detail that he was pretty much last in every race, and traveled at approx. 8mph most of the time ;)

In all seriousness, the Clark/Stewart era of F1 would be great, as would Fangio.

EDIT: Il try and spell the names right!

While we're off topic, would you care to discuss the historically almost institutionally sexist nature of motorsport?

Sexist?

LOL. Seriously, do you think that bikes and cars don't sharing the same track is something like a prejudice? I mean, really?

I did redefine the OP to narrow the focus to "iconic auto racing personality". Can you please let the whole pointless argument for and against motorcycle racers drop? It's now considered off topic.

iconic adjective /aɪˈkɒn.ɪk/
upload_2013-11-26_12-32-2.png
/-ˈkɑː.nɪk/ formal › very famous or popular, especially being considered to represent particular opinions or a particular time:

The meaning is quite clear. Suggestions should be limited to those that made a significant contribution to auto racing, not just someone who raced at some point.

Sorry, I'm just amazed by the idea that, in over a hundred years of motorsport, there aren't bike and cars events just because some sort of prejudice.

Pre F1:

Nuvolari
Rosemeyer

After 1950:

Fangio
Jim Clark
Graham Hill
Jack Brabham
Foyt
Emerson Fittipaldi
Dale Earnhardt
Mansell

- (Schumacher is very important racing figure, but the cars he drove will be boring, IMO)
- Except by Dale, all drivers that I mentioned were successful in different kinds of car racing.

Overated might not be the right word to use. But what i meant to say is: Shummy and Dale Sr and Jr are already well know by most already. We should give coverage to others who also have contributing to the industry, but might not have as many titles despite their skills and charisma.

Make sense:tup:

Although it's well before my time, and I have my favourite modern drivers like anyone else, if the tie-in with a certain driver also brings in cars of that era to the game, I'd be more inclined to see cars and drivers from the 50's - 70's. With the recent addition of Senna and possibly Andretti (not confirmed of course) I'm thinking the next one might be European or possibly Asian to balance things out.

Jackie Stewart would be a good fit, 3 time World Champion but mostly limited to F1.
Jacky Ickx is another solid choice. 6 time LeMans winner, winner of various other titles including Bathurst 1000 and Can-Am so some awesome car choices there.
Stirling Moss would be great not the least of which because he won 212 of the 529 races he entered and drove 84 different makes of car over the course of his racing career, including Lotus, Vanwall, Maserati, Jaguar, Ferrari and Porsche.

Graham Hill would be a great choice. He won Le Mans and Indy, besides F1.

Thanks for showing my age lol

But not as fast, so they didn't need to be as athletic to drive as today's do.
Think so? Richard Petty's average speed for the 1966 Daytona 500 win was faster than every 500 from 2002-2013. Fastest ever was in 1980 by Buddy Baker. Fastest pole lap 1987....

Here's an off the wall suggestion... Ken Block. I'm not really a fan, but it would be cool to get to do some of the crazy runs that he has done in his career, as well as drive his wicked car.

See Daytona & Talladega are the outliers in this situation, since now they are restricted. At the other tracks the cars were slower then than they are now

In seriousness:
Dan Gurney -
Mark Donahue
Honoring Smokey Yunick with his unique engineering philosophy would be great and his cars are quite interesting!
All these have an incredible spectrum of cars - Trans Am, Indy, Formula 1, NASCAR - and all vintage race cars that really need to be in this franchise.
Junior Johnson - not just his race cars but his Moonshine running cars also!
Dale Earnhardt
Richard Petty

In absolute humor:
Ricky Bobby or how about Cole Trickle!
Lightning McQueen!
