I know the Jets were given a win but at the end of the day there are no they shouldn't really have won this game columns. I hope Geno Smith continues to develop and not concerned about wins as long they play hard.

Don't all good receivers get a shove or two each game? Michael Irvin was a master at the shove.

Disappointed in the Bengals game. Thankfully I had to work and missed the game. Otherwise I probably would have thrown or broken something. From from I heard, Maualuga had an idiotic play that cost us a chance of at least trying to make a comeback. Oh, and it seems Marvin Lewis will continue to waste timeouts for no particular reason, just as in previous seasons. We've got a good team. But it looks like will underachieve and fail in important situations as always. Just status quo in Bungle nation.

Ndamukong Suh's bank account was lightened $100K for a low block on John Sullivan in the Lions' Week 1 game vs. the Minnesota Vikings. This has been the latest of the many dirty hits Suh made. What do you think about this fine, and do you think the punishment fits the crime? Or could more be done to ensure Suh plays nice from here on out?

All in all, I'd say the punishment of payment doesn't fit the crime, just because it's a cheap play (but not a dangerous one). All you can do is penalize or disqualify/suspend him.

Suh just doesn't get it; he's a very talented but very dirty player. While I don't wish injury to him, he is going to be that guy who gets soundly cheered by the opposing team's fans if he ever goes down hurt...

Suh is a dumbass. What I don't get is how he can carry himself as a Subway Mr. Nice Guy off the field but be a completely dirty asshole on it.

I've been watching the chat about it on ESPN... I like some of the things these guys are saying: Does the fine fit? Yes, because of the player's history. Is that what should be done? No. He needs to be taken off the field instead of fined, and the organization needs to start being held accountable for player actions.

I hate when people say injuries are part of the game. Injuries are part of the game because players are freaking dumbasses, don't know how to tackle, and use unnecessary roughness to injure opponents as Suh did on Sunday.

Or they are freak accidents.

There is a key phrase I heard while watching ESPN's "First Take" on this matter: "...sixth time fined." I'm sorry... we are all fortunate in life to have second, third, maybe even fourth chances. But when you keep stubbing your toes and you just don't get it, some kind of action has to be done. Some extremes would be suspension without pay and maybe some Community Service stuff. I especially have my dislike of N. Suh for kicking my man Matt Schaub in the groin that one time, even as the ESPN types were saying that he didn't intentionally kick Schaub in *the man region.*

If N. Suh just doesn't get it, DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT, damn it! No slap on the wrist... what's wrong with an uppercut to the jugular (so to speak) in sending a message to him?

What about Clay Matthews's clothesline tackle on Kaepernick way out of bounds? The refs flagged it, but I thought he should be ejected from the game. Why does that never get used? Refs, eject players from the game when they do things to intentionally injure players! To make matters worse, the hit caused a fight which resulted in a "dead-ball" foul against the 9ers, which the refs said "offset" the late hit. To make matters worse, the announcers claimed that because the foul was a "dead-ball" foul, the play should have stood and the 9ers should have been facing 4th down instead of 3rd.

So let's get this straight.

It's 3rd down.
Your QB gits hit late out of bounds.
Your team is assessed a dead ball foul for a fight afterward.
Refs say penalties offset, replay 3rd down (instead of ejecting Clay Matthews)
Announcers say play stands, 4th down.

I say penalties both assess in order. The penalty during the play gives the 9ers a first down and 15 yards. The subsequent dead ball penalty then backs the 9ers up 15 yards. 1st down 9ers.

Technically a late hit is *after* a play, so in theory it should have been fourth down either way. Unfortunately, the refs let San Fran replay the down and scored a TD which changed the face of the game.

Mark Sanchez will likely have season-ending shoulder surgery.

And this is how most of Jets Nation has reacted:

To be honest, I am not surprised how they acted. Although he is the most successful playoff quarterback in team history*, he wasn't what the franchise needed.

*No, he didn't win a Superbowl but 4 road playoff victories is nothing to sneeze at.

Sanchez works well with a good running game and a very good defense to back him up. The problem with that is there are quite a few other quarterbacks that can fill that role. For where the Jets are at, they need more than a caretaker.

Sanchez is a good QB, but he just makes terrible decisions. I don't know if he thinks he has to try to fit it into these windows when his receivers suck, but he throws it anyway and it gets picked off or something else bad happens. He would probably have done well in a system where there wasn't so much turmoil on the offensive side of the ball. Bringing in Tony Sparano was a huge mistake... that guy is a QB career-wrecker.

...Shouldn't that describe any other QB? Like that is pretty much playing on easy mode, right there.

It does, but the difference is Sanchez does not have the ability to improve the team when neither of those are good or having a bad day. Peyton Manning was able to perform great in Indianapolis with a so-so running game and very inconsistent defense. Tom Brady has led some very good Patriots teams the last few years with an average running game and defense. Sanchez cannot do that.

I'm sorry, I can't react like that after seeing another human being get hurt due to a coach's idiotic decision-making.

Well that's your loss, now there is no chance of Rex Ryan being Rex Ryan and putting in Sanchez this year, and by then Geno Smith will have proven himself as a perfectly good QB.

Jets at Patriots tonight with no Mark Sanchez for NYJ. New England is reportedly favored by 11 (Yahoo! Sports) tonight.

I can't wait for this game. Although I am anticipating a loss (these are the Jets) I am hoping like heck they can pull this off.

You lost me at "Sanchez is a good QB"

Good and Sanchez should never be in the same sentence. It turns out Pete Carroll was right he should have stayed another year. One thing that has always, always bothered about him even as a rookie is that he does not seem to have any pocket awareness. I remember a game a couple of years back when they played the Ravens on a Sunday night and he had five turnovers I realized that his first two years were as good as it was going to be.
