Most teams have played four games already. It is still very early in the season; but for now, here are the standings (source: Yahoo! Sports):
--- AFC ---
AFC EAST: New England (4-0), MIA (3-1), NYJ and BUF (2-2)
AFC NORTH: Baltimore, Cleveland, and Cincinnati (2-2 each), PIT (0-4)
AFC SOUTH: Indianapolis and Tennessee (3-1 each), HOU (2-2), JAX (0-4)
AFC WEST: Denver and Kansas City (4-0 each), SD (2-2), OAK (1-3)
--- NFC ---
NFC EAST: Dallas (2-2), PHI and WAS (1-3), NYG (0-4)
NFC NORTH: Detroit and Chicago (3-1 each), GB (1-2), MIN (1-3)
NFC SOUTH: New Orleans (4-0), CAR (1-2), ATL (1-3), TB (0-4)
NFC WEST: Seattle (4-0), SF and ARI (2-2), STL (1-3)
It is still too early to determine if these teams will be the ones who'll hold their position as the season progresses.
I usually like doing assessments. So here's mine...
The whole buzz here in Houston is on Matt Schaub. A number of his passes have been picked off; some of which, leading to touchdowns by the other team. One popular video was shown of a Matt Schaub jersey being burned by fans. My whole storyline I'm following this season is if Matt Schaub can become that elite QB to be among the better QBs in the league. I think Schaub is and has been a solid quarterback for the Texans. That's unless you want David Carr back or even *sigh* Sage Rosenfels. I don't think it's time to turn loose T.J. Yates or Case Keenum, and especially not this coming weekend at San Francisco on Sunday Night. Arian Foster and Ben Tate remain quite solid toting the rock on run plays. They don't always bust up the field for massive yardage all the time, but they are still solid players. Andre Johnson is still Old Reliable for the Texans' passing game as is Owen Daniels. I've been impressed with Deandre Hopkins and Lestar Jean. On defense, I especially love J.J. Watt. Other players like Antonio Smith and Danieal Manning have been solid. D.J. Swearinger is pretty good as well. Kareem Jackson, though, has to calm down on certain plays. In fact, his body slam of that one Seattle player was a difference maker for Seattle beating us in Overtime this past Sunday.
Other than that... big test for the Texans when going to San Francisco.
And that's all. Get ready for Week 5.
