Antonio Smith will be suspended by the NFL for the regular season opener at San Diego for ripping off the helmet of MIA's Richie Incognito and using it as a weapon against Incognito. "Ninja Assassin" got to slow his role a bit.

Preseason games 3 and 4 are usually where not-very-good or not-good-enough players often get unloaded and go elsewhere. I'm just hopeful we keep some of the better-performing players so they could get some starting time in the regular season. These last two Preseason games are a chance for the up-and-comers to really start performing better to make the 53-player roster come regular season.

My Texans' third Preseason opponents will be the New Orleans Saints here at home on Sunday afternoon. Then after that, our Preseason finale will be at the Dallas Cowboys on Thursday night.

DEN Linebacker Von Miller will be suspended without pay for six games for violating the substance abuse policy.

This will be huge for Denver to make some noise this season. Thoughts?

Antonio Smith got off as easy as it gets; almost nothing more than a slap on the wrist. I don't know what's wrong with Goodell nowadays. He bans using salutes as celebrations, but gives a player (affectively) a one-game suspension for swinging another player's helmet at him with intent to harm? Smith should be missing more games and paying fines for those actions.

Dallas Cowboys fans are the most loyal NFL fans, according to a recent survey from Atlanta's Emory University. 2nd through 5th include fans of the New England Patriots, the New York Jets, the New Orleans Saints, and the New York Giants. Where do my own Texans fans rank? 16th. (16th... really?) Here is a link I found:

Is this just another bogus survey someone threw together, or do you think most fans just aren't as loyal or are as loyal as this survey shows?

Texans have been around for 11 years. Not surprised at all. Jets should be lower, Cowboys DEFINITELY should be lower.

That survey is bogus. Oakland with the least loyal fans? C'mon, if you're willing to still dress up in the crazy Raider garb in the heat of Cali, you're plenty loyal. I will say this, though: If you an honest Jets fan, then you are one loyal fan, indeed.

And the Seahawks at 10th for least loyal fans? I'm sorry, who has the loudest stadium? Who sells out every game? (Yes, even the preseason games are packed full)
We retired the number 12 for a reason. Best fanbase in sports.

It's based on numbers, if nothing else. San Diego can have a good/great team every year, but they don't sell out as many games because there's lots of stuff to do in San Diego, and the weather is usually great. Doesn't mean the fans aren't loyal.

I could say that Miami is in the same boat, but their team hasn't been world-class in a decade or so.

Meanwhile, Stealers [sic, see article] fans are all over the US, Browns fans stayed quite loyal without even having a team for five years, and Dallas has the largest number of fair-weather fans of any sport.

The NFL Preseason continues tonight with two games. Tonight's games include the New England Patriots at Detroit Lions and the Carolina Panthers at the Baltimore Ravens. Of course... none of these games count towards anything. However, these are more crucial times for players trying to make the starting roster. So prospective starters will need to step their game up if they want to make the starting roster or avoid getting unloaded or sent to practice teams.

One note I forgot to mention about Antonio Smith getting suspended is that he's out for the final two Preseason games in addition to our first game of the regular season at San Diego.

...Aaron Hernandez indicted on six counts including 1st Degree murder. So his career is DEFINITELY over and likely going to have to enjoy his new long-time home- jail.

What do you make of this? Justice?

I hate to root for injuries to players, but I jumped up in excitement when I saw Schefter's post saying Sancheese got injured. Now, unless Rex hates the Jets and starts Matt Simms or Greg McElroy, then he'll have no choice but to start Geno

Who dat? Who dat say dey gon' beat dem Saints? My Texans said they would, but we failed. This Preseason match ended 31-23. Too many mistakes by the Texans and poor execution- especially in the 2nd Half ended up leading to our downfall. Texans have to correct this for when the regular season starts.

I will say that I like WR Alec Lemon for the Texans. It will always be great for Matt Schaub to know that he has some extra weapons on offense. Lemon will be solid. I am just not sure if I'd have T.J. Yates or Case Keenum as backup QB. Part of me is siding with Yates.

Ritchie Incognito. Outstanding.

*Richie is a good player. He hasn't been dirty since he came to Philbin's ship. Those days were in St. Louis when he had to play for a dumpster team. Besides, I don't think you can call him dirty. He's just extremely physical. Anyway, he's a leader now. I'd give him the benefit of the doubt.

Rosters are going to be trimmed between now and the final Preseason games for each team. Players are going to get unloaded or maybe join the Practice team. Congratulations to all who make the respective teams. These are decisions for the teams to make; not us fans. There are certainly certain rookie players who shine in Preseason and earn their time with the team. One of the dumbest things last season to me was when my Texans shipped off Trindon Holliday(?) to Denver. He was solid in kickoff returns, but didn't do too much apparently for the Texans to stay with Houston. So when you make the team... you'd better deliver like you did in the Preseason.

With this said, my Texans' final Preseason game is at Dallas. Or you can call it the Texas State Championship. Nothing in sports here in Texas quite like a Houston-Dallas rivalry. That game is this Thursday night. Hope you all have a nice finale to Preseason before we all knock heads when the regular season starts.

All you fans of 2008 AFC Championship participants should get out the tissues, Gronk is out for the year, the team put him on IR. Chris Gronkowski of the Chargers, that is

Source? From what I can gather, he's on PUP, not IR.

... you bastard. Chris Gronkowski wasn't in the AFC championship.

I did the same thing. Stop teasing us and let the Patriots suffer....
Doesn't matter, Jets will need entire league to go on IR to make playoffs even.

The Preseason ends this weekend. We got the Governors' Cup match tonight- Texans at Cowboys. Important to us Texans fans is in beating those boys up north. It's sad to lose to the New Orleans Saints like we did this past Sunday. However, Texans REALLY want to shut up Cowboys fans. So with the rosters trimmed down, it will be time to see if the Texans or the Cowboys are better- so what if it's Preseason?

Good luck to all of your team(s) and congratulations to all players who made the starting roster for your team(s).

You'd think someone named Richie Incognito might be some kind of alias for a sneak superhero.

Or maybe it's just ironic? Like Little John.

Texans end the Preseason 3-1 by beating the Cowboys 24-6. Keeping the other team out of the end zone is always something to be proud of. More importantly for Texans fans, you beat the Dallas Cowboys. It's just Preseason, but who cares? Everything now comes down to what players will make the Texans' 53-man roster for when we take the field for our first game of the 2013 season at San Diego on Monday Night.

How did your boys do with their final Preseason game?

I've got to hand it to the Raiders, they shut down the run. However, we ran all over them in the pass. And our big D shut them down in every regard on offense.

Bring on the regular season. I look forward to seeing all this talent fly around the field.

ESPN is reporting that Tim Tebow was released by the Patriots. So uh... any team need a guy like Tim Tebow?

I head the Hawks released Michael Robinson. Kinda heart-broken about that. IMO, he's the best fullback in the league, and a big reason our run game has been so stellar.

Instead of the long typed up post I had, the video below is my response to anything Tim Tebow related.

Several teams are in dire need of a Week 1 starting quarterback: New York Jets, Oakland Raiders, and the Jacksonville Jaguars to name a few. :sly:

There is time between now and when the season officially starts. So anyone willing to speculate how this season will go? There are also questions like these:

* What teams will be the ones to watch?

* What players could impress this season?

* What teams could be surprise teams to watch?

* What are your expectations for your team(s) this season? Will they meet or exceed those expectations?

* (any other relevant question regarding the upcoming season)

Of course, I wish all of your teams the best of luck this season. Play as hard as you can in your quest to play in and potentially win the Super Bowl.

My Predictions:

AP League MVP: Tom Brady
AP Coach of the Year: Jeff Fisher
AP Comeback Player of the Year: Larry Fitzgerald
AP Offensive Player of the Year: Aaron Rodgers
AP Offensive Rookie of the Year: DeAndre Hopkins
AP Defensive Rookie of the Year: Kenny Vaccaro
Deacon Jones Award: Clay Matthews
