Also, is the ground wet for everyone else all the time when you go into free drive mode? Thought that was weird. Would really love to have a manual transmission option, even if it was only available in free drive mode. Cruising around at 60 mph in 3rd gear at 5k rpm is not really that great. I'm having one hell of a time with the road blocks. They only leave one little space open to go through, and you come up on them so fast it's hard to see where that space is.

The area you start in free drive always starts in the same conditions, so that might be why.

FYI: 7 of the cop cars are coming to the racer side at one point or another. However, you apparently can't buy them just yet & I don't think the 0 MS Points is what they're really going to go for.
 
how many cop exclusives are there? $1.99 for each, $9.99 for all 7... is my guess.

then they'll do the same with the racers... I personally find this to be a sell-out point. It was great to have law exclusive vehicles as that encourages more variety. If they really go through with this, this just blurs everything together.
 
It's EA. What do you expect? I knew they still had control when I saw the 2 packs that let you skip ahead and unlock SCPD/Racer cars.
 
it was probably a big time seller for BP or other games which surprises me... I know S/S had it on release day but that's a Disney game.

I used to be a fan of EA back in 2002.. hot pursuit 2, burnout 3 and revenge... when Underground 1 came out, I would mimic the EA ad that said "EA Games. Challenge everything...*Shuuuooff*" now.

Now EA just saddens me, I don't even call this game Need for Speed, nor do I even want to say it's EA... I personally label this game: Hot Pursuit 3, by Criterion Games and DICE. Enough said.
 
The pack is out & it is 320MS Points; typical EA business in this area. Been having a lot of fun with this game, though and even going as far to actually buy a few Dr. Peppers just for the codes rather than for my lunch as usual.

I think I'll buy it.

Yeah I figured that out last night. Also, since I am from western Colorado, I thought that Hope Canyon on Hot Pursuit looks a lot like Glenwood Canyon in Colorado:

The new SCPD Rebels pack adds 7 cars to the racers lineup that were previously only available for pursuit mode.

The cars are:
1. Maserati Quattroporte Sport GT S
2. Aston Martin DBS
3. Lamborghini Reventon
4. Audi R8 5.2 FSi
5. Mercedes SLR McLaren 722 Edition
6. Bugatti Veyron 16.4
7. Chevrolet Corvette Z06

These cars are available for download on PSN for only $3.99

All the rest of the cars looks imilar enough to existing cars in the racer department; ZR1, DBS Volanet, Reventon roadster, R8 Spyder, Veyron Gran Sport, etc. All you pay for is to have them turn on the roof layer of the model and swap textue and voila!
 
Seems EA is still up to their old games, All those cars are already in the game. No matter who makes the games EA will always be at the heart of it.

Getting this Thursday for $35 along with Dragon Age Ultimate edition at Kmart :).

Its similar to them calling a time of day change and a new mode (that isn't new but wasn't available on the map) a map pack in BF:BC2.

I would also expect the racer versions to be a little bit slower than the pursuit versions. At least, that's how it would be in real life.
 
Hello there... I haven't logged into GTPlanet since 2004! I'm surprised my account is still here and active. :)

I have been enjoying NFS HP in the week preceeding GT5, but I did have a question about one particular event... has anyone tried the King of The Road event yet? It is a Racer event, Hyper series in Rockingham Point between the CCXR and Veyron... I have done it multiple times with essentially perfect technique and can't seem to win. The opposing car just storms through at the end regardless of how many times he has crashed. Anyone have any tips?

P.S. - Does anyone know if it is possible to change my username? I can't believe I chose such a horrible name when I signed up in 2001. Thank you.

In a way yes, but Time of day isn't an option we really pick, cars however are something we pick of out our own choice.

I agree. I bought the mp3 not long after the E3 release trailer, everytime I hear it I think of HP. :P

I actually got the "I'm bored" feeling yesterday... It's probably because I've finished all the racer events and don't find the SCPD events all that exciting.

Its very similar. Time of day in an existing map(in BF) is like a new skin(Police skin or lack of) for an existing car(NFS). The new (old) mode on an existing map is like the "race career" version of an existing police only car.
 
According to their FB, if the original launch trailer gets 1,000,000 views by Dec. 12th, they will release the Murc. LP640 Roadster, Viper SRT-10 Final Edition, & the Continental SuperSports Conv. Pretty much cars you know that they have already finished, but for just 3 of them, they'll hopefully be free.
 
they will be free if they reach 1 million views... i tried mashing f5 on the video page and i never see a change in view counts... wht determines an actual view count, from watching it from start to finish?

I've just posted it to twitter, but I've no idea how to broadcast it to people beyond my limited followers.
 
a new video they posted explains why they chose to include those cars in the game; to balance the f1 with the veyron, the boosting power of the mclaren is greater than any car in its tier to accomodate for the lowest top speed for instance.
