NFS Hot Pursuit 3

Thanks T12...mmmm I am very tempted to get this one. Will have to sleep on it tonight. So many games,so little time :ouch:

T12 I hate you. Your enthusiasm for this game is infectious :)

Hm...

It's like a combination of Burnout: Paradise and PGR4. It's relatively easy to control the car...but you still need skill to pull off top times and positions, regardless. No tuning, no customization....just you, the open road, weather, and your car.

If you've never played any of the PGR games, think of it as a combination of Burnout: Paradise (or Revenge) and NFS Most Wanted.

I love GT, but I can't in all honesty, not recommend this. I won't push this to the side when GT comes out, either.

Since you love Most Wanted, you'll definitely like this. Just don't expect tuning or customization...Hot Pursuit isn't about that.

Hmm, thanks. I'm not bothered about mods, MW was about huge bounty, 30+ minutes pursuits for me. So tempted!

I bought my PS3 for GT5, but reading Amars thread, I'm feeling more than a little dissapointed with it. So tempted by this. It kinda looks like Most Wanted, my favourite NFS game ever.

I honestly don't see how you can be disappointed with a game without at least playing it.

You don't have to play a game to be disappointed with it's features, or the minimalist lack thereof in this case.

So did anyone else go to the Extras page and click on the Showcased cars movies? The movie of the GT3RS doing a lap around Spa was incredible!

I just noticed the Showcase movies before watching Burn Notice.

So far I've only watched that of the Cayman, and even that was awesome.

Will do that tomorrow, then. Knocked out the final race tonight (it's long; keep on your toes because 1st place is fast as 🤬).

Time to see how the online is playing out.:)

This. The tracklist and carlist are both crap. The standard v premium is quite annoying if I'm honest, and each delay caused a little less interest, as it seems Kaz likes to treat his fans with disdain. I'm sure it'll be technically better than NFS. But more fun? Nahhh.

Got much more seat time with it tonight, although got cut short when my interwebs kept dropping out. It's a fun game if you play it for fun, trying to perfect it and get great times is very frustrating though so I don't bother. The car's un-willingness to change directions, the fact you can barely see anything at night, you just have to take the game as it comes. The storm at night looked really cool- why can't you set time and weather for free roam?:grumpy: Spike strips and EMP don't cause enough damage IMO. I've been going at it as a cop.

Gah, was just playing the game and the PS3 YLOD'd!!!!

That really really sucks mate.:(

I agree with terronium 12, this is one of the most fun games I have played in a while. I'm sure I'll be swapping back and forth between GT5 and NFS hot pursuit. Online is the best, and I normally dont play games online but its a blast. I just wish the online pursuit mode was free roam and in free roam you could be pursued or pursue speeders.

I unlocked the Stirling Moss yesterday!!!! How much Bounty do I need to unlock the Agera?

I also got 1:40:25 in that extremely fun Reventon Time Trial.

I rented this last night and so far it seems pretty good. Graphics look great and the scenery is really nice. Especially on wet roads. Audio is also great. The ruberband AI can be a pain in the butt and you have to run your nitros a lot. It does have the feel of Hot Pursuit 2 which is a good thing. I do miss the 3d cinematic spin around view that was in HP2. Also no manual or semi automatic like in HP2. Plus no exploding barrels or rockets from the helicopter from what I have seen. I also have not seen any way to free roam with friends. I will play it over the weekend and determine if its a rental or a purchase.

The Agera is a blast to drive...

Haven't lost a single race with the Zonda yet... been zipping past 1st place at corners... either this thing takes corners really well or others take it really poorly.

It corners extremely well. It's also one of the most advantageous cars in the game as far as drafting is concerned. Wait until you get the CCX-R. :D

Now, why did I come in here?

Oh yeah...if Criterion has as much freedom with this as they rightfully should, I can honestly see an extension to Seacrest, or even an entirely new section a la Big Surf Island. Add 12 new vehicles, a new and unexplored location, new events and they've significantly doubled (perhaps even tripled) the awesome of this game.

I wish I saw in this game what everyone else does; I am quite underwhelmed with it.

The physics are incredibly, frustratingly bad (even for an arcade game) and difficult to use, there is nothing besides career and online mode, no modifying (even very minor, as per the original NFS HP game), no personal garage (as per original games) and most of the shortcuts that are required to be utilised to get gold times are highly difficult to navigate properly, even with practise. And is it just me or are the sounds the game makes upon scrolling up and down through the start-button menu completely overkill? Just trying to scroll down in the gameplay settings makes my house shake.

Also, the fact that there is no option for manual transmission is unbelievable (I've never encountered a game before without this rediculously fundamental feature).
