NFS Hot Pursuit 3

I'd do it if I owned the game.

Also, I'd get the Armed and Dangerous pack and the Lambo pack. I don't really care for Porsches, so...

However, EA needs to cool their jets over the whole "Used Game" thing. I can understand the online code thing, but...$5 for 3 cars? really? I mean, Forza gives out 10 cars for that much. Heck, NFS did as well at one point. Heck, Burnout gave 52 cars in their Cops and Robbers pack.

Seriously, if you're not gonna offer that much, don't charge as much. Although, there are new races and things...still...expensive.

Lambos untamed, unlimited fun.

All the cars are a past to drive... I have a soft spot for the Diablo as it not only holds nostalgic values, it also has a colour palette where I love each and every single colour provided.

The Countach sounds amazing, but I had an ear orgasm at the Diablo. I cranked my speakers nearly all the way for 30 minutes driving that car around.

Indeed, on both accounts (previous two posts).

The Sesto sounds like a pissed off Gallardo, even more ferocity than the Superleggera.

I have to drive the sesto more to enjoy it. I've only done every lambo event, but I don't feel like I've played with the sesto as much as the other 2. This is most likely because I've been playing the Hot Pursuit and Gauntlet event over and over and over again...

on the first gauntlet event, where you find a cop cruising on the wrong side of the road (haha), I've been trying to find ways to avoid roadblocks. One way I learned of months ago was putting your car in autopilot mode (i.e. Takedown/ successful spike or emp cameras). During that short time your car is controlled by the AI, they can plow through cars without taking damage too much speed loss. So to dodge the first roadblock I would time it so that the cop behind me will be spiked by me, and then the car will have time to find the gap in the roadblock and it'll hopefully pass through it unscathed.

So once I've blazed past that at over 300 km/h, I throw a spike strip on that awaiting cop up ahead before he gets a chance to take off. Make the turn onto that long straight, use turbo, and then use a jammer when I reach that small bridge so no roadblocks will be placed while the turbo is still running. Turbo runs out just before the turn, I quickly run up the hill and take the cave shortcut. That roadblock is now placed somewhere on the main road so I don't have to deal with it. Cop gets put right at the exit, I throw another spike strip down and let it slide onto the cop to give them a slow start.

The rest is the same, after the underground tunnel and into that wide hairpin, I use an emp so that I can force the location of the next roadblock... Near the end are 2 shortcuts, the roadblocks gets place a midst one of those main roads, I drive to freedom without dealing with those stupid roadblocks, I set a fast time :)

Do you guys still play often though? I want more people to join that small community where we have time attack competitions... :)

I'll be playing more and more now. I've got my GT2 RS, Diablo SV, Agera, Apollo S, etc, etc. :D

Is the Lamborghini pack worth it guys? Really tempted to buy it but the price seems a bit steep.

Forget the Elemento, The Diablo and Countach themselves are worth buying for 3.99...

sems, you can go on needforspeed.com and look there.

Yes, yes, and hell yes. :D

Seriously? Yes. The Countach and Diablo more than justify the price.

The Countach and Diablo are the major pulling points for me, I think I shall purchase this pack tommorrow morning. I was going to get the Porsche one too (when it's released obviously), but again it depends how much money I have

$7.91 (including tax) 👍, when you do get the pack, make sure you plaay the event Cannonball first :D

Not liking the huge rear end of the Elemento, tbh. It doesn't look bulky in those pictures, but when you go play, then you'll know what I mean. Damn perspective.

I'm a bit surprised EA even released the cars separately on the marketplace, and 240MS points each (iirc).

Still love the Diablo, though.

So I just bought this game for £25....total waste of money. The handling is absolutely absurd, you can't turn a corner quickly unless you drift. Then there's the boring events where no matter what car you're chasing or outrunning it will always be as fast as yours. Oh and the EMP does nothing but cause a pointless cutscene, the helicopter is useless and the spike strip would be good if it actually stopped the cars following you but it simply doesn't.

I've finally given up on it now after I got to a mission where I couldn't stop a Mustang in the rain with a friggin' Gallardo. Im boosting up to well over 200mph and he just pulls away as if nothing has happened! Did they even bother to think about performance differences when it comes to the cars? I haven't played a worse game for a very very long time. Its a real shame people keep buying this tripe.

I read every single merit you didn't like about the game (minus the price tag), and I can tell you that you're just not used to it yet.

-You're better off doing smooth cornering or shallow drifting the slightly more sharper turns (none of which require your brakes).
-Outrunning the AI isn't actually that hard.
-EMP does a ton of damage, but I don't quite like the cutscenes myself.
-If you're the cop you can close off the opening by laying a spike strip beside the strip the chopper laid down. If you're the racer, it's a no brainer really... if you see them stop on the map, they got something for you. You can also use your jammer to negate them too.

I read a lot of negative comments about this game, and usually that player hasn't adapted to the physics of this game yet.

I've had it for a week, it shouldn't take that long for a game to start being fun and it still hasn't yet! It's also full of bugs, especially the AI. As for closing the gap when the heli drops spikes, that would be nice but it means getting in front of the AI car and when they seemingly have infinite boost that's dam near impossible.

Well not all games will be enjoyed in one week's time. It took me longer than a week to start liking street fighter, gunbound, quake 3, and super smash brawl.

AI racers can't keep up with you if you keep your speed relatively high. To do this, avoid boosting short squirts and use more at once, especially for the straights. Most beginners tend to use boost whenever they get a chance or during drifts. I'll tell you right now, that is absolutely ineffective. The minimum amount of boost you'd ever want to go is at least half a gauge. When you got a long straight, use ALL your boost when you get well over 80%, if enter that straight with a fairly high speed, you'll go beyond your top speed and really let the car redline. Do this more often and AI will never keep up.

I personally didn't notice rubberbanding until I read about bunch of comments saying so. Even if it does exist, it's not like they'll ever take first from you. One thing the AI racers never do is go beyond top speed. the cops and interceptor racers will have magical boost when they want to spike you, and hot pursuit/interceptor racers will randomly brake to throw an EMP on you. Their movements are quite easily telegraphed for me, but that's probably because I've been playing since Day 1. Come to think of it, I'm shocked to say that I've already been playing this game for almost 4 months.

Anyway, if you want more tips on certain events I'm than happy to help you out.

It's not actually the races Im having trouble with, its the cop missions. No matter what car Im chasing it is always faster than me, even though Im only using my boost after corners to get back up to speed. They also seem to be able to corner with excessive grip and when I take the same corner at the same speed the back end slides out and slows me down to a stupidly low speed even though Im driving a 4 wheel drive Lambo! It's just intensely frustrating and Im struggling to have fun playing it!

believe it or not, the cop cars are much more forgiving than the racer cars. reason being is because they are tuned to have faster acceleration AND boosting power... with 1/4 gauge boost, you can increase your speed at an unrealistic caliber... sorta like the X1 in GT5. The only problem is that they dont get boost as easily as racers. With cops you can drift, near misses (excluding oncoming near miss), slip stream (except interceptor), take shortcuts.

Hot Pursuit missions should be a piece of cake. They are easier than interceptor and rapid response. With interceptor you got to be patient. as long as you have some boost you can keep up, so don't worry too much about hitting the car every second you get boost. the AI will screw up somewhere along the way at times, that when you jump in, stop right beside them and then they get busted, this is actually the fastest ways to bust them in interceptor, in some events people managed to complete some in 7 seconds! Don't follow tailgate as some carry spike strips.

If you're struggling with rapid responses, you're most likely eating too many penalties. However, you don't need a clean run to achieve perfect. Cornering well and keeping your average speed throughout the run relatively high, ideally at top speed is how to get gold easily in these events. Once I get the car at top speed i stop using boost, because cops have a capped top speed so any extra boost won't make it go faster, i just save it for when i exit corners. And if you're still not getting golds after driving relatively clean, it's because you weren't going fast throughout most of the run nor were you cornering fast enough.

using brakes to drift is actually really slow, you'll only ever want to use it for sharp hairpins like in the mountains, everything else you do power-over drifting, where once you just begin to turn, you left go of gas and then step on it again. the startup is slower, but this gives you a much more shallow drift allowing you to take wide bends without losing too much speed (liek you would if you turned hard).

My youtube channel has a couple rapid response runs in there. someone on gamefaqs was crying about how hard certain events are so i showed him it's not impossible.

Good luck! :)

I got this for my birthday and I love it! Can't wait for the new Porsche add-on with the new speedster, '82 911 turbo, and the 959.

Rapid response is no problem, it's the missions where I have to stop 5 or so cars from racing. As soon as I've taken one down everything just goes to hell! The other cars are gone well into the distance and whenever I catch up they spike strip me (there's very little chance to react with the wide ones especially as they carry on moving down the road for so damn long) or something stupid happens causing me to lose them.

On my last play I gave up chasing them when I got spawned infront of a spike strip after a crash. Simple things like that should not happen in a game like this! If they had stuck to racing it would be a brilliant game but the police section is a total pain IMO and is rarely enjoyable.

I already know what the problem is, you're getting too caught up trying to take down one guy that you're letting everyone else drive away for free.. What I do is I always try to catch the people upfront. While i do this i bump into the other racers if opportunity knocks. You have spike strips to catch the guys behind you. It's particularly useful to use them when they decide to emp you. Spike strips aren't hard to dodge, if they happen to release them right in front of you, then tough luck.

Plus when you're behind in hot pursuit, the cops get so much catchup boost that it's silly. Should be no reason why you can't catch up considering the fact you're practically driving at top speed the whole time. But for the most part try not to get boost happy as you don't get a lot of boost unless you're doing a lot, save it for when you get that golden opportunity to deal a massive blow. Most events are done a lot faster through melee attacks I find, and spikes, EMPs and roadblocks help finish them off.

The best ways to score lots of damage if you're up ahead is to call a roadblock, before you pass through the opening, drop a spike strip. Time it so that by the time they reach the roadblock, the strips would have been placed in that gap. They'll get spiked or will have to blast through the roadblock vehicles, doing damage either way.

Alternatively, if you're behind a bunch of cars, call in the roadblock. One guy is bound to mess up causing a potential pile up, when these guys are tumbling in their wrecked state, smash into them, free kill. this only works offline.

This method is particularly useful in interceptor, push the racer away from the gap enough that you know they won't make it through the roadblock. slow down, they crash, move in for the kill. if they wrecked quickly stop beside the wrecked car (as close as you can without moving too much), busted. if they don't wreck, rear end them for damage.)w

If you like racing the most, like me, then just play that, you're not required to play cop events. I'd play em to unlock all the cops to play online however...

tl;dr Don't go for the first racer you see, side check him or whatever and keep moving up until you're at least in the middle of the pack. Don't get hasty with your boost usage. Don't tailgate racers for too long if that event has spike strips... only tailgate when they just used it (because they require charging time).

Anyone pick up the Porsche pack, yet? Only tried the older Turbo, but like everything else, it sounds amazing.

The cars in this game when you let off the gas makes my pants happy.

I picked that up and also the Diablo SV.......such a throw back to the NFS3 days!

Just when you are about done with the game they give you new gamemodes and some actually interesting cars, pure evil that is.

i picked up the pack knowing i wouldn't be satisfied with it because I just had that itchy feeling that the cars would like like existing ones in the game. For instance I had a feeling the 959 would drive very much like the Targa; "good" handling fairly high grip, faster 0-60, weak boosting power, and I was right. I haven't tried the Turbo yet, I'm guessing it'll drive sorta like the GT2 RS and speedster....

By the way the speedster has beastly boosting power... it can hit speeds like no other in its class.

There's a time attack competition next monday and it's going to be on one of the races in the porsche pack, anyone interested?

DL'd the Porsche pack and the Diablo. Not overly interested in the extra events so didn't see the point in spending another 560.
