Had some good races tonight but man, I thought some of the racers playing prologue were dirty

Took some advice and gave everyone a headstart, then sailed past as they shunted each other turn 1! Did meet some good clean racers though and had some good races on the ring.

The hardest part though is keeping your cool and not retaliating, I'll admit in one race, after overtaking and being punted by the same guy 3 times on the ring, I finally caught him up and, in a fit of 'if you can't beat them join them' I executes a perfect pit maneuver on the final straight to sail past him. Felt really disappointed in myself afterwards though and PSN messaged an apology, it does get very frustrating, however we must remember not to get sucked into the nonsense.

I got the YLOD for the second time on my 60gb launch. I am in the process of doing the reflow technique to revive the old girl. I don't know if you can save the save data since this is an EA game, If I get it to come back to life I will back up the HD and transfer to my other PS3. Hopefully I won't have to start Shift over again.

***Update*** After an hour repair I am back in business. As I thought you cannot save the game save data for NFS Shift. I still have my data and I will do a backup of my HDD and put it on my second PS3 since I only got about 1.5 months since the first repair.

Im too looking for some clean races.

Im a bit of a newbie with the wheel on pro settings. So i may not be the best competitor, but i enjoy a clean race preferably with some of the slower cars.

PSN ID. klondike_rush

EDIT !
I also have a headset

I'm interested, but I only have a 360. I'm (obviously) the minority here, but I'd be interested if anyone else has a 360 and is looking for this.

I hear you, I got a request from Mr.V yesterday to race and I just started Tier 2 races. I believe most of these guys are running Tier 3 and 4 cars just based on their level in the game. I am getting the feel for Tier 2 and also learning the new tracks. It appears the favorite tracks are SPA and the Ring. While playing Tier 2 the AI is just down right brutal, I thought I was playing GTP5 online! Between the brake checks, plowing into the back and side of me, and pushing me into the walls wow what a frustrating experience. Since this game tends to reward drivers for aggression I have had to become more aggressive with the AI in Tier2. Currently I am at Level 17, Tier2 with the Shelby Mustang all PRO no aides and tuning to drive this car.

Now...I'm sorry, but do you think that he was waiting for an apology? He didn't care about the spirit of racing, so I don't think he was too fussed about the spirit of good sportsmanship. If its a one on one with the same cars and the other guy makes several attempts to punt me (and...well...does, despite my defensive driving), I have absolutely no problem handing out a bit of medicine (not too much though). I will also gladly take the extra 2K off those who will try to punt me. I think writing an apology letter was probably going a bit too soft, but, eh, its your decision.

Its hard sometimes to tell though. I was racing Paulie and he mounted the back of my porker (thats what she said :sly:) so many times, I had to actually ask over the chatroom whether it was intentional.
Of course it wasn't, but he PITed me once or twice, so I had to ask.

I just recently opened up Tier 4 and now I quit the career :) Just buy cars and hotlap the ring at the moment... get my levels up that way really easy... 3-4 laps per level... Now for online racing... when I race with Mr_V on the Ring for example we usually start off in simple cars.. Rating 4 or 6 and then move on to the faster cars with rating 10 or higher... when I race with Mr_V we usually do 10.00 races... so I have a couple of cars in my garage tuned to that level or I use a loaner car which the game provides :) We try to stay in the same vehicles, but sometimes we do different cars. RX7 vs. Porsche GT2 tuned up to rating 10.00 is one we did recently...

In this game the close racing were use to in GT5:P is not really possible. First off because I cant look left or right... and secondly the bumps in the road etc. make it hard to do side by side without touching... Now IF I could look left or right that would be really handy to avoid this type of thing :D

I quite like the way Shift has done it though because, yes, while punters can punt easier, close racing drivers will be more pressured to make more dives and ducking and weaving, rather than side by side on the straights. It actually means the one follwoing close behind needs strategy and instinct to get past without screwing the whole thing up and taking both poeple off.

Its a new pressure and I like it.

Not being able to look around is i huge mistake in this game! Not sure what they thinked.. If thats not fixed i might give up on online.

Yeah I found doing the quick race and selecting the track and 1 or even 0 competitors was a good way to "tune" the car, get some points and quick cash. Honestly I need to get to at least Tier 3 to be able to compete with you guys, Tier 2 is tearing me up! I will work on getting the cars and tunes so I will be ready for you guys. I don't mind a little "love" tap here and there or swapping paint as you can recover from these incidents. a few more hours, tracks, and a Tier and I will definitely be ready:tup:

I also made an adjustment to my chair, I raised my steering wheel mount a few inches so I would have more clearance for my knees. I also had to modify my pedals and mount to keep them from sliding on the floor as I found I am more aggressive with the pedals in this game than GT5P.

I'd love to do some online racing with more serious people. I find the matchmaking a bit random and always end up with at least one joker in the pack. I'm not the greatest at SHIFT yet as I'm still taking my GT4 driving style to the game and not finding to translate all that well.. also just using a pad.. no mic.

I'm usually on during the evenings Eastern time after 5PM. Add me and we'll set something up. PSN id is femki.

Everyone add me, i prefer tier 1/2 cars but don't mind really. PSN is "danjama. No mic, yet.
Online during 7pm GMT onwards....

awe man I saw you online, Mr_V and I were having a private match at Laguna Seca. I should have sent you an invite to race we had a great couple of rounds at 4.0, 6.0, and 10.0. 👍

I hear ya, I am finishing up Tier 2 (except Drift) and starting Tier 3. I bought the Porsche GT3 RS and I like the way it feels. I also changed my AI setting from Hard to Med to see if it would help with the "punting" the AI does in the racing...Nope! I played with the auto clutch and its best to leave it on, in the off setting you get the "N" RPM rev between shifts.

Hi, I'm looking for some good racing around the Nordschleife at the weekends. Any car or performance point level, not really fussed. If any of you guys want to add me that would be great. Its pretty hit and miss with the general public out there - literally :indiff:

I mostly prefer the 14.00 rated games... very interesting range of cars can be shoehorned into it (though I prefer the Ford GT). I just want online play with people who (I hope) aren't a bunch of punting d-bags.

PSN is Defeater-8

I'd be interested in a bit of this sometime. PSN ID= Neomone. I need to get off my bum and set up some cars for the PP ranges though.

What’s different between rated / unrated game?
I prefer manufactory cars any tracks. It seems like races with lower powered cars is more fun online. Kids and crazy drivers often prefer fast cars!
Yesterday I was racing 15 laps race with some guys on Dakota oval with Toyota Supra. That was very fun!

You meen unranked/ranked race? I think its about your win/lose ratio, but not sure really, private is only in unranked race. I prefer manufactor race to, sent you a request ;)

My PSN is JonesyGT246. If I'm online, feel free to invite me even if I'm not playing Shift. I also have a mic.

Guys get you're names on here, me and Mr V had a brilliant night of racing last night, private rooms make a huge difference to this game, i will try and add more of you to my friends list so we can get full grids 👍

Yeah I'm in too! Will be happy to have clean races with my GTP's!!! but prefer manufactor races.

PSN : kemp1010 , no mic...
