I was very disappointed until I saw this video which seems to be in Elite mode/wheel and manual clutch... not bad at all...

The steeringwheel doesnt wiggle...now this is nice! And the sound....ill buy the game and just listen how it sounds!

You know what is nice when watching these videos? Is the lack of crazy inconsistent graphics GT5 had, that is one of the nice things about Forza too, you don't have like psycho weird lighting effects just showing up out of nowhere, or horrific shadowing effects. On the graphic end of the game it just looks crisp.

So, we have videos that look like the handling is rubbish, we have videos that look like the handling is good. We've got videos where the wheel wiggles a lot, we have videos where it doesn't do that. We have videos that show good looking tracks, we have videos showing heavily altered tracks...

Well, how do I put this? Seems like the game is either pretty inconsistent or that you can't really tell how good/bad it is by watching those videos.

I noticed that too, some I am sure is the user, either bad videos, bad driving or game problems. I had to decide early that I would just risk it, enough new tracks (right or wrong) that I know I will have some fun learning those.

Having on GT5 on my playstation I needed something to break it up a bit, never had shift 1, this was announced by the time I got mine. So this will be the add on to keep me busy until fall when F1 2011 is due and will probably get the same kind of mixed reviews.

Wheel not wiggling is being driven with a wheel.

Wiggly wheel is a pad user doing minor corrections.

I think that unfortunately, videos leaked until now are driven by stupid arcade drivers (just the one before this post is a perfect exemple) who don't really know how to drive and take a proper apex... The first shift was a bit of a mixed feeling for me because it asked you to drive like a maniac arcade driver in order to win the race....

Hope it's not the case with this one. In the video I showed before, even if the guy don't really push the envelope of his WW Golf, at least he drives carefully and the wheel moves are adequate and realistic... and it shows that the physics engine is quite better than Shift1... so, I have hope it will be better and that the AI will act accordingly to your driving...

Good thats all we need now - arcade drivers :dopey:

those stupid arcade drivers are the people taking the time to record and show you the gameplay of the game... you call people stupid because they are playing a game the way they like it? how stupid is that?

Yeah, most of it can be explained somehow, I guess. I just doubt you can take most of the videos without a grain of salt. In both directions, to be honest, both positive and negative.

I think most of the videos could make the game look worse than it is, or better than it is.

I still have mine preordered, and I'm not going to change that. But, I won't give a damn if it's not a sim at all, so I'm quite safe. I'd prefer it if it was as much of a simulation as possible, but I'll be fine with an accesible, simple, fun arcade racer. Not my prefered kind of racing game, but fun in its own right ;)

Because they don't show the game on a fair light... truth that this game is for the masses and it's obvious that driving like a maniac still makes you win races... but most of GTPlanet serious drivers jump conclusions that the game have bad physics based on videos but few connects the dot that maybe it is only bad driving habits of people used to play NFS HP which IMHO is not really fair.

Hopefully a patch comes, because the lack of options for online will keep me off of it indefinitely.

I would not lean too heavily on that hope. They refused to address things in Shift 1. Random rooms, no button remapping for wheels, and the dreaded FLOATING were never fixed.

And tell me when you could do that in GT5.... ;-)

No, but you can do this.

You can bet the front of that car was really melted afterwards!

yes, looks like some mix between script animations and dynamic 3d physics engine input... but you must admit on some examples (Subaru), it looks pretty damn realistic... and thousands miles away from GT5 "damages"... The crash at the end from inside is just terrifying!

Well, GT5 has almost no damage at all. Its not hard to produce better damage than GT5.

But I have to admit that I am not focusing on a great looking damage system. I try to avoid crashing in racing sims.

Every simulator which want to be respected should have a realistic damage systems, it makes you more cautious of the consequence of bad driving and makes you a better driver... a more REALISTIC driver...

I agree with the dude. Crashing and mechanical damage is a crucial aspect of racing that every driver needs to deal with and be aware of. GT5 allows you to drive over 200mph into a concrete wall and drive away with a few "scratches." The driving simulation is there but the race experience is piss poor.

I am still getting the game, but one thing that worrys me is that it looks like you can flip to easy, the crashing look amazing for a video game, but every time i spin into a gravel trap i dont wont to flip. Man i hate complaining, thats the only thing that kind of worry me.

Ive been out of the loop with this, is shift meant to be a "simulator" last need for speed game i played was carbon on the wii and that was quality lol driving around free roam being chased by cops.
