Spent a couple of hours with it on PS3 Slim today, physics seem better than NFS S1, but its still not a "sim" by any shot, I don't care how they spin their marketing.
Graphics on PS3 Slim seem to be better than they were on NFS S1, knock on wood I did not experience any of the freezes that other PS3 owners have been reporting on forums.
Fanatec Carrera wheel and pedals worked fine with no probs, FF seems better than NFS S1, tweaked the wheel settings Shaun Cole from ISR provided in his video a little for my personal tastes.
Did a few quick races to check out the tracks after the initial two qualifying events;
Nordschleife was a disappointment, seems much easier and smoothed out in comparison to NFS S1 version, Karussel banking is way easier to stay on and seems wider now and not as steep, the full course is not available that combines north loop and south loop used for real-life endurance events (like it is in GT5).
Also seems as if someone went ballistic with the digital chain saw, lot less trees populate the sides of the course than NFS S1 version, maybe this was done to accommodate night racing, if not, then its further dumbing down that was not necessary.
Riviera Monte Grande's S-turn around the Casino fountain (follows real-life Monaco traffic pattern, not the route used for F1 race as it did in NFS S1) seems to have been widened and smoothed out, still no "Piscine" area harbor side so the track still blends fiction with the F1 course.
Tokyo tracks still have the detail oversight I noticed in NFS S1, the Kanji (Chinese characters also used by the Japanese) painted on the streets surface for caution/through traffic in Japanese are reversed or upside down as if you are driving the wrong way although the overhead freeway signs indicate that you are traveling in the right direction. (I lived and DROVE in Tokyo for a number of years).
New menu navigation seems a bit cumbersome in some places, like choosing tracks in quick events, not as streamlined as it was in NFS S1.
Thats about as far as I got tonight.
