Is it me, or is Chicago out for blood against the Canucks? --- Randy

Wow, did anyone else watch game 5 between the Ducks and Predators? That was just a phenomenal hockey game. Bobby Ryan scored an absolutely beautiful goal, and then the Preds tied it up. Jason Blake took the lead for the Ducks, but Shea Weber tied it with 35 seconds left, then the Predators won it in OT.

Damn, that was just good hockey, plain and simple. I love watching the Western Conference games.

LLOOOOUUUUU!!!

And the Hawks force a game 7! Wow what a collapse by the Canucks! Everything went wrong for them tonight...

Also, Predators moved on by eliminating the Ducks, good for them, that's been a great series.

Tuesday's gonna be awesome. Montreal-Boston game 6, and then Blackhawks-Canucks game 7!

I'm desperately rooting for the return of the Jets - I think Canada would do well to have the team return to Winnipeg. So I'm glad the Phoenix didn't last too long against Detroit!

But I'm shocked and appalled at Vancouver's collapse. How can a team that does SO well in the regular season choke so badly in the playoffs... every single time!?!?!?!!?

I desperately don't want to be left with Montreal as the only Canadian team remaining... I'm not sure I can bring myself to cheer for the Habs!:scared: Of course they still have to actually beat Boston, which may or may not happen...

Agreed AMC, I'm shocked at the total epic collapse of the Canucks so far. Also, you know what I think as far as Luongo, is that while he's certainly a very good goalie, there's no way he's worth his $7M cap hit. Imagine if the Canucks were to use Schneider as their starter, they'd have another $6M in cap space to play with, and could have theoretically signed Ilya Kovalchuk, or Paul Martin, for example. I think goaltending is so volatile that it just isn't worth it anymore to hand out massive contracts to goalies unless they're absolutely elite, and even then $7M+ is absurd. Chicago showed last year, that you don't need an elite goalie to win the cup. Goalies today are just so damn good, that it's hard to justify spending so much on one goalie.

Truth be told, I'm kinda pulling for the Blackhawks because I have them in a money pool.

Yes! Yes! Yes! *stands up and runs around room and does happy dance* Sorry about that, too excited. Have to fix the aerial antenna so I can get channel 64- CBC. So I haven't been able to watch much hockey. What was the final score?

2-1 Canadiens. Cammalleri with a textbook one timer from the faceoff circle on the PP, and Gionta banged one in on the PP after Thomas made a save on Cammalleri. The D played great, just like games 1&2.

That's great! Maybe the key to them winning is me not watching. The games I didn't watch on TV, they win. Saturday I watched a little, but they were already losing.

Canadiens gone :(

ROUND 2 MATCHUPS

WEST

Vancouver Canucks (1st) vs. Nashville Predators (5th) (Prediction: Canucks in 6)

San Jose Sharks (2nd) vs. Detroit Red Wings (3rd) (Prediction: Detroit in 7)

EAST

Washington Capitals (1st) vs. Tampa Bay Lightning (5th) (Prediction: Washington in 6)

Philadelphia Flyers (2nd) vs. Boston Bruins (3rd) (Prediction: Flyers in 5)

OUCH. Detroit Rock City loses game one in OT. :grumpy: Poor Jimmy Howard, he played a hell of a game, and gets burned on a shot deflection from his own guy. After today's game (5/1/2011), they lose again. :ouch: The Red Wings are now down 2 games to none to the Sharks. :grumpy:

The first period of game 2 of the PHI-BOS game is pretty great right now.

Great emotional rendition of God Bless America, the crowd was chanting U-S-A towards the end. I'm not even American and it gave me chills. Then, 30 seconds in, an American forward (VanRiemsdyk) scored, and then scored again shortly after. The Bruins have just tied it up though, going to be interesting.

So, the Capitals......didn't see that coming. Hopefully they'll pull something crazy out the next couple games, they are the comeback kings.

I honestly feel bad for Capitals fans. First they lose to Montreal, now this?

Yea, that....

I have a prophecy though. They got swept last year in the first round, got swept this year in the second, next year they'll get swept in the 3rd round, then we'll be in the finals. It's all a test of the fans to see how true they really are, and it's a way to put a positive spin on the situation.

I got my Winter Classic Varlamov jersey yesterday, even though I ordered it at the begining of the playoffs, but I'm still going to where, I don't even care. And we also out lasted the Pens, so I'm happy.

Well, I think the Capitals will be making some personnel changes. Semin seems like the most likely candidate to be traded.

Also, this has to be one of the most boring playoff rounds ever. Two sweeps, and two series that could be over in 5 (I think San Jose will take it in 5, and Vancouver in 6

Scratch that, San Jose vs. Detroit has been interesting. I'm pulling for the Red Wings, they were my cup pick from the beginning, and I have Datsyuk, Howard, and Lidstrom in my pool.

I disagree with you. It has been an interesting series, but if San Jose doesn't get it done this year, it all goes downhill. Now is their best chance, I want them to/They need to beat Detroit.

HOLY FREAKING CRAP! The Wings have come back down from 3-0 to tie at 3-3. This was awesome! :D :sly: It will come to the end Thursday night for them, (I think if the Sharks choke, this will be a mighty mess), unless they play them like they did the last 3 games.

Well the Sharks got it done. I think whoever won that series is going to win the cup, whether it was Detroit or San Jose. Both teams are so evenly matched, and there's no way that Vancouver will be able to handle either of them. The Eastern teams, I think Tampa could perhaps give San Jose a run, but Boston's just too slow. Honestly, if Montreal can take Boston to 7 games, I don't like their chances against San Jose.

Wow.. the Wings didn't get it done. :grumpy: But I wasn't surprised nor disappointed at all. Great job all season Wings. 👍 Randy

RIP Boogie Man.:(

Read that in the paper this morning, had to the most depressing front sports page ever with this announcement and a large article about Killebrew entering a Hospice.
