Only one game tonight, but it's a big one. We got Sidney Crosby and his Pittsburgh Penguins heading to our nation's capital to meet Alex Ovechkin and his Washington Capitals. Pens 'n Caps. Crosby vs. Ovie. This game is going to on NBCSN at 7:00 PM EDT. This should be a physical series. Let's just hope it doesn't get insane like the Tampa Bay vs. Detroit series.

Enjoy some hockey this Thursday night.

Still on the line, looking at it from an angle gives a false image.

Have we moved on from this topic? Yep, but I thought I'd bring it up again anyway

That's all the way across the line. Was the frame after what you posted

So the Washington Capitals defeated the Pittsburgh Penguins 4-3 tonight? Congratulations to the Capitals on taking Game 1. Game 2 of this series is this Saturday night in Washington, D.C.

Everything I could have hoped for for a game 1 except who won :P

And I thought I hated Oshie with the Blues :ouch:
Yeah that was really weird when I saw Oshie had a had trick, he always forgot to show up for the playoffs when he was a Blue. He was too busy losing the puck while trying to pull off a "fancy" play.

Good for him though. I'm not a penguins fan, I love Malkin, I think he's awesome. I can't stand Crosby though.

Anaheim decided to fire its head coach upon being ousted from this season's playoffs. Yep- Bruce Boudreau got canned as coach of the Ducks.

Friday Night hockey. Both games are on NBCSN if you're flipping around channels. Here's tonight's schedule:

* STL Blues at DAL Stars
* NSH Predators at SJ Sharks

Enjoy some hockey if you'll be watching or following tonight's games.

And I thought I hated Oshie with the Blues :ouch:
I did not start seriously following hockey until about 2-3 years ago, but I never was a big fan of Oshie. He is an incredible player and can pull off some nice moves, I will give the credit for that. So i am not terribly upset that he is providing for the Caps. The problem though...
...he always forgot to show up for the playoffs when he was a Blue. He was too busy losing the puck while trying to pull off a "fancy" play.

Good for him though.
And let me tell you, it wasn't just the playoffs in my opnion. He just wasn't having the chemistry with the team. (Most of the time)

I really hope STL/DAL goes 7 games.
Was it pretty good? I don't have satellite anymore so I couldn't watch. I just kept track of the score on my Blues app. Going by the score it looked like a good, close game, even though the blues lost.

I'll be able to watch Sunday's game, it's in NBC. That's the only thing I really miss not having sattelite anymore, I watched almost every blues game last season.

It was good, the stars had some good board play and also back check, the blues had Elliot and some nice sustained zone pressure, good work on the point as well.

I enjoyed it more than I thought I would.

The Western Conference semifinals of the Stanley Cup Playoffs continue today. Both games on NBC, and those games are:

* NYI Islanders at TB Lightning (NYI leads series 1-0)
* PIT Penguins at WAS Capitals (WAS leads series 1-0)

Good luck to all teams. Enjoy some hockey today and tonight. The NYI at TB game is actually coming up next as of this post.

Woo whoo, what a 3rd period between caps and pens :D

And btw, damn that Oshie winning all those late draws :ouch:

That was fun to watch, especially the 4 on 4 bit, mega hit on Crosby, Ovi crashing the crease etc. Good stuff.

Wow... that was excellent. Pens had a lot of chances but the Caps never made it to the goal. If we have any advantage at home it better be two games good, and only one more back in DC...

Daley, and Dumoulin however, seriously need to step up their game. I couldn't stand to watch either of the two play, making terrible rookie mistakes.

I'm thinking we'll see a few small line changes with the pens, hopefully they can put something together to sustain a 3rd line for some serious ice time whomever it takes.

Win em both at home? hmmmmm ;)

Quick rundown...

* Game 2 of New York Islanders at Tampa Bay went to the Bolts. The Lightning won 4-1. This series is tied 1-1 as the series will now shift to Brooklyn, NY starting with Game 3.

* It was 2-1 in favor of the Pittsburgh Penguins at the Washington Capitals. This one is also tied 1-1. Pittsburgh is the site for Game 3 of this series.

Now for stuff outside of the playoffs.

* The NHL Draft Lottery was tonight. Toronto will be granted the top pick in the NHL Draft. Others in the Top 3 include the Winnipeg Jets and the Columbus Blue Jackets. The rest of the order in the NHL Draft Lottery from 4-14: Edmonton, Vancouver, Calgary, Arizona, Buffalo, Montreal, Colorado, New Jersey, Ottawa, Carolina, and Boston.

* The winner of the Kraft Hockeyville contest will get $150K in arena upgrades as well as host an NHL Preseason game for next season. That honor of Hockeyville for 2016 goes to Marquette, Michigan. So a game in early October will be held at this hockey arena in Marquette, MI.

Again... congratulations to the winners of today's games.

Are you up for hockey? The Western Conference side of the 2015-2016 Stanley Cup Playoffs continue their run today. Get ready for these matches:

* STL Blues at DAL Stars (DAL leads series 1-0)
* NSH Predators at SJ Sharks (SJ leads series 1-0)

We can see teams go up 2-0 or (like yesterday) have series be tied 1-1. Lots of hockey to be played.

Go ahead and enjoy some hockey today and tonight.

I'm missing the things Darryl Sutter has to say but that quick clip inside the glass with Ken Hitchock was hilarious

I can't capture the quote to give it justice but maybe some of you know what I'm on about.

Well Nieme has been really really good, I think Dallas has tried a low cycle a few times without success but I think that is how they can score based on what I saw in the second.

The quote was something like Q you put that kid on the ice more, A yeah, he's a handful, maybe if we could figure out how to coach him. Something like that. He has always had brass.

The Blues should not have tried playing prevent defense, not against the best scoring team in the league, that won't fly.

That 5 hole goal was sweeet, and then the poor guy gets clocked in the head. He's still playing lights out, that was some bs coaching imo, you have to score and keep scoring against the stars.

Now we're gonna see something though, I can't say I'm unhappy with an OT, and I can't decide which team I hate more

Yeah I know, they didn't even try to play offense that last period. Those 30 second line changes were silly too.

Edit: well that was huge. Glad to win that one, that would of been bad going down 2-0, especially blowing a 3-1 lead.

Patrick wants this STL/DAL series to go seven games, and we are at least assured a five game series for this one after today's win by the Blues. These guys couldn't settle their business in three 20-minute periods, so they needed one more to settle the score.

Well, Dallas had Midwestern hospitality with their series against the Minnesota Wild. Now, they'll get some Midwestern loving in St. Louis. Game 3 of STL-DAL this Tuesday in St. Louis.

[UPDATE] Forgot to bold a name.

That was an awesome game to watch. Very entertaining. I'd rather the Pens win in game 7... :D

Dallas will be singing our Blues after we have home-ice advantage... hopefully.

I never knew that during the National Anthem, Stars fans would all chant STARS when it is mentioned twice in the anthem itself. Personally, I love the idea. That is great team spirit. Do feel that some people may be offended by it though. But I am sure they have done it forever... so people have gotten over it.

Backes ended up with the OT winner halfway through the first OT period in last nights game.

Parayko lets the shots rip from the blue line occasionally, along with Steen and Shatty. Steen goes everywhere though. He literally plays just about every position every night. He is the most underrated player in the NHL besides John Scott. He is a boss. I really wish they would set Parayko up for Left Wing on the Power Play. Heck, just let him rip shots from blue line on the PP. He probably has a shot as hard as Weber if not harder. Whether it creates a rebound or not, it still better than passing the puck until you turn it over and never get a shot on net during the PP.

Welcome to the first Monday of May 2016! We got only one game tonight: the Washington Capitals at the Pittsburgh Penguins. This series is tied 1-1 after Pittsburgh took Game 2. This series will be in Pittsburgh for Monday and Wednesday. By virtue of a 1-1 tie right now, we're assured at least a Game 5 for this series, meaning this one will go back to Washington, D.C. after the two rounds in the Steel City.

I don't have any real Stanley Cup Final predictions, but I could realistically see a Dallas Stars vs. Washington Capitals match for the championship. Dallas is my favorite on the West side of the bracket. My pick of Washington is more sentimental than with any serious analysis. However, it isn't to say Washington is weak sauce. I could also see a Dallas Stars vs. Tampa Bay Lightning Stanley Cup Final. The New York Islanders are a sneaky team, though.

Anyhow, go enjoy tonight's game. It's on NBCSN at 8:00 PM EDT tonight.

[UPDATE] PIT took Game 2.

With the kings out of the way and silly hawks not pulling it together I can see Dallas, they are the best in many stats however I will be rooting the sharks.

Of course I want the pens, caps are cool and lightening are a serious threat. There would be no great disappointment for me in the east if the pens can't get it done, I'm a strange NY'er who likes the isle more than the range, caps don't bother me either. The only thing I do not want to see is those damn blues holding the cup :P

This is going to be a good game today 👍

sharks pens ftw
