Let's talk about young and old. Can a young man will his team to victory as coach? 26-year old John Chayka will try to turn around the Arizona Coyotes as coach as he was recently signed as coach of the team. Hope a fellow John can make some magic. 44-year old Jaromir Jagr still got it and still doesn't think the game has passed him by. He signed a one-year deal to keep playing for the Florida Panthers. Can't hate on the man.

Why feel :( when you can feel :)? In fact, feel :D because we got two games tonight sure to make you either :) or even :D. And they are:

* DAL Stars at STL Blues (STL leads series 2-1)
* SJ Sharks at NSH Predators (SJ leads series 2-1)

So we got some more playoff hockey as we find out what are the four better teams in this pack of eight. Thursday night NHL hockey on Cinco de Mayo. Enjoy tonight's games and good luck to all four teams playing tonight's two games.

Both of last night's games needed Overtime. The Dallas Stars needed one Overtime to beat St. Louis 3-2 to tie this series at 2-2. That means this series is assured a Game 6. San Jose at Nashville, however, needed THREE Overtimes (must have been a long night in the Music City!) for the Nashville Predators to tie that series 2-2. Wow!

Tonight, though... it's Tampa Bay at the New York Islanders. This series has Tampa Bay leading this series 2-1.

Just one game, but it should be a good one. Enjoy tonight's action!

Another. Overtime. Game. Even if you don't like hockey all that much, you got to admit this is crazy good Playoff hockey. Are you not loving this postseason of NHL hockey, GTPlanet? The Tampa Bay Lightning won 2-1 in Overtime. Jason Garrison hit a long distance goal with sniper-like accuracy. Vicious! Tampa Bay now leads this series 3-1.

Congratulations to Tampa Bay.

So St. Louis took down the Stars today? I saw most of STL at DAL earlier today. All congratulations to the Blues on their 4-1 victory. We'll see whether or not this one goes the seven-game distance. For that to happen, Dallas must win in St. Louis on Monday to bring the series back to Dallas for a Game 7.

There are two other games tonight. On deck is Pittsburgh at Washington with the Penguins up 3-1. This could be the final day of this season for the Washington Capitals if they fail tonight. Also tonight is Nashville at San Jose- that series tied 2-2.

Just wrapped up... It was 3-1 in Washington, D.C. as the Washington Capitals' 2015-2016 season lasts one more day. Game 6 of this series is on Tuesday in Pittsburgh. Washington must win at the Penguins in Game 6 to force a Game 7 on Thursday in Washington, D.C.

On deck as of this post is Game 5 of the Nashville Predators at San Jose Sharks, series tied 2-2.

The Minnesota Wild and the state of hockey would like to extend a warm welcome to Bruce Boudreau as the new head coach of your Minnesota Wild. An incredibly successful coach in other teams, this is an opportunity to really fight with the best in the league.

The Wild probably could have had a better postseason run if a few of their heavy hitters were playing and were healthy. What Minnesota was able to do on mostly house money was admirable. I know there were those who said the Wild would be swept by Dallas. The signing of Bruce Boudreau as coach is a definite plus. The future is surely bright for Wild Nation.

As of this post, it is 3-1, San Jose in this Game 5. 7:50 left in the 2nd Period. Should SJ hold on, they'll take a 3-2 series lead.

We have only one game on today, and it is the New York Islanders at the Tampa Bay Lightning. This series is 3-1 in favor of Tampa Bay. If the New York Islanders lose today, the Lightning will advance to the Eastern Conference Finals. The Islanders want their season to last at least one more day.

As for last night, the San Jose Sharks ripped apart Nashville last night with a 5-1 victory. SJ leads that series 3-2. Game 6 of this one is in Nashville on Monday.

Enjoy today's game, and good luck to both teams today. Off-topic, yesterday was a BIG win for hockey as Nyquist won the 142nd Kentucky Derby. That is... the horse named Nyquist, not the Gustav Nyquist of the Detroit Red Wings or any other Nyquist in the NHL.

Fun Fact of the off topic Nyquist- Nyquist's owner Paul Reddam is a Red Wings fan. He has several horses named after Red Wings players, and one of his business partners happens to be Colorado Avalanche Defensemen Erik Johnson. In fact, Nyquist was named Nyqist solely to piss off Johnson. The article from a local news source can be found here.

Ottawa Senators, get to know your new head coach- Mr. Guy Boucher. The NHL team representing Canada's capital city got themselves Guy Boucher to coach the team. Of the Canadian teams, OTT had the best record with 38-35-9 and 85 points.

As of this post, Tampa Bay currently leads 2-0 with 1:19 left in the 1st Period. In fact, TB just scored their second goal as I was typing this.

[UPDATE] Added extra stats on Ottawa.

Just wrapped up... the Tampa Bay Lighting are going to the Eastern Conference Finals after dispatching the New York Islanders 4-0 in Tampa Bay. So the Islanders could defeat the Florida Panthers in a playoff series, but not the other Florida NHL team. Tampa Bay will get the winner of Pittsburgh/Washington in the finals. So one of the four teams who'll be in the Conference Finals is now in- the Tampa Bay Lightning. One step closer to playing for the Stanley Cup.

Life is so cruel. Two seasons could end tonight. Tonight's schedule:

* DAL Stars at STL Blues (STL leads series 3-2)
* SJ Sharks at NSH Predators (SJ leads series 3-2)

Both Dallas and Nashville could be eliminated should they lose. Both may be eliminated. One or the other could have their season last one more day. Both teams facing elimination could see their seasons last one more day. We'll see what happens after both of tonight's games are played.

Should you be following tonight's action, enjoy tonight's games. Good luck to all teams.

Well, Patrick... you wanted DAL-STL to go seven games, and your wish was granted. Dallas hung three goals on St. Louis, and all the Blues could muster was two in response. So the Stars shone bright to a 3-2 victory. The winner of Game 7 in Dallas will advance to meet the winner of the SJ-NSH series.

As of this post, the game between San Jose at Nashville is tied 2-2 in the 2nd Intermission. If San Jose wins, they'll eliminate Nashville and advance to meet the winner of the DAL-STL series in the Western Conference Finals.

Just ended... Nashville defeated San José in Overtime 4-3. Yes- this one couldn't be settled in three periods. So the series is going back to San Jose for a Game 7. It was the first playoff goal for Viktor Arvidsson of the Nashville Predators, and boy was it a big one! You save your team from being eliminated and having the season over. Now the Preds' season lasts one more day. And that day is this Wednesday in San José. Either the Predators or the Sharks will advance to the Western Conference Finals. Who, though? We'll find out this Wednesday.

TWO Game 7's coming up to determine the Western Conference Finals representatives. Isn't hockey awesome?

So who starts for STL in game 7? Im not envious of Brian Allen right now, lol.
I am sure Elliot will get the start...

That was an incredible shot!!!!

Tampa bay was simply surgical in their elimination of the rangers, and this response is priceless

Will Washington's season end tonight? It will if they fail to win at Pittsburgh tonight. WAS at PIT is the only game tonight. The puck drops at around 8:10 PM EDT, Pittsburgh leads the series 3-2.

Good luck to both Washington and Pittsburgh tonight.

This is some straight up *******. Hagelin doesn't get a penalty for being completely trucked, but when Oshie had the puck and Letang lays into him, oh no, we can't be having none of that..

Besides, Letang touched the puck, so it shouldn't be interference.

Washington and Pittsburgh are heading to OT.

Isaw that as BS also... if your going to oenalize him give something more realistic than interference.

Sorry to the Pens fans, but I really want this series to go 7 games. It is just so entertaining!!
