Tonight's game between the Tampa Bay Lightning at the Pittsburgh Penguins was the 17th game this postseason to get into Overtime. Damn, NHL! Y'all can't settle your busniess in sixty minutes? Anyhow... it was the black and gold boys of Pittsburgh winning 3-2. So we're assured at least a Game 5 with this series now tied 1-1. The series will now transition from the Keystone State to the Sunshine State.

The puck will drop tonight in St. Louis for Game 2 of the SJ-STL series. The San José Sharks will try to tie this series at 1-1 while the St. Louis Blues seek a 2-0 series lead. Which will happen? Find out tonight!

4-0 was the score in St. Louis as the San José Sharks blanked the St. Louis Blues. St. Louis now will be heading to the Shark Tank as this series shifts to San José. This series is tied 1-1.

The San Jose Sharks looked very sharp, it goes without saying how good their power play is but I'll say it anyway. The St. Louis Blues look a little flat on their feet for now and I don't think a physical game is going to help them much as they can't afford penalties(see what I did there?)

Anyway, most of it was a good game and I look forward to the next.

Get ready for the Eastern Conference Finals continuing starting tonight. This time, though, the series is in Tampa Bay after two games in Pittsburgh. We go from the Keystone State to the Sunshine State with this series tied 1-1. Will the Pittsburgh Penguins or Tampa Bay Lightning get a 2-1 advantage? We'll see after tonight.

It was 4-2 in Tampa Bay for Game 3 of the Eastern Conference Finals, and on the winning end was Pittsburgh. It was 1-0 with Pittsburgh leading after two periods. The Pens just decided in the 3rd Period to win (to use drag racing speak) on a holeshot. Tampa Bay did come back, but the damage was mostly done.

If you want to have something to discuss, here is something for you:
* Mike Milbury's questionable comments regarding concussions in hockey: http://www.msn.com/en-us/sports/nhl...g-on-air-comment-about-concussions/ar-BBtb6jS

How do you respond to his comments?

Other than that, congratulations to Pittsburgh to take a 2-1 lead in the Western Conference Finals. Tomorrow night in San José will be Game 3 of the Western Conference Finals between the St. Louis Blues at the San José Sharks.

Game 3 of STL-SJ was a 3-0 victory for the San José Sharks. It wasn't a good night for the blue and gold boys in the Shark Tank. So the Sharks take a 2-1 series lead with Game 4 coming up Saturday night in San José.

Tonight continues the Eastern Conference Finals. Game 4 is the Pittsburgh Penguins at the Tampa Bay Lightning. Pittsburgh leads this series 2-1. Enjoy tonight's game if you'll be watching or following.

Is it safe to say there was almost a choke? Only 27 seconds into the game, Tampa Bay scored the first goal of the game. They would go ahead to a 4-0 lead after two periods. Pittsburgh, however, wouldn't go away as this game ended up being a 4-3 victory for Tampa Bay tonight. Again- Tampa Bay ALMOST choked away a win. So this series is assured at least a Game 6 now that the series is tied 2-2. Game 5 of this series is on Sunday in Pittsburgh.

Is it safe to say there was almost a choke?

I don't think so, not against the offensive minded Penguins with all their talent. The pens took some chances and cheated up the defensemen but that can be a scary proposition for any opposition, even for Tampa Bay. It was a good third period and good series so far, game seven double overtime anyone?

.....

Can anyone tell me without too much speculation why Patrick Kane didn't play in the world cup? It's bothering me a great deal, if he simply didn't want to I can respect that but I don't think it's the case.

Since its 2-2 now, I won't be surprised if Tampa actually wins this series, and no I am not a Pens hater.

Later tonight is St. Louis at San Jose. The San Jose Sharks lead the Blues this series 2-1. This is Game 4 of the Western Conference Finals.

6-3 was the score in San José as the St. Louis Blues doubled up the Sharks in the Shark Tank. By virtue of this win, we are assured at least a Game 6 of this series back in San José. This game had a pretty cool brawl late in the game. And funny enough, both players wore #4 in the melee. The ones winning by unanimous decision, though, was St. Louis. Speaking of St. Louis, that's where Game 5 of this series is going to be on Monday. Whoever wins on Monday will have the 3-2 edge in this series.

The flip flop terms with these 4 juggernauts is pretty strange, who will take charge and rise above? Well I say the pens, it doesn't matter if they face sharks or blues, if they get by tampa I'm fairly confidant 👍

I can't understand how the sharks looked so bad, I know the game and could say all sorts of whatever, but... they just didn't have their game.

Don't be too confident, just because the Blackhawks or Kings aren't coming, doesn't mean it's going to be a pushover at all.

I think the Blues have only outplayed the Sharks a total of 3 periods the entire series. I'm glad they won that game last night, but they are going to have to play a lot better if they want to win the series.

I'm not too confident in the Blurs goalie situation at the moment. Jake Allen played for us in the playoffs last year, and even though we lost in the first round, it really wasn't his fault, he actually played pretty great, the offense just didn't do anything scoring wise. Brian Elliot can be great, but he can be really streaky, and when he's bad he's real bad. I wish they never would of traded some goalie named Bishop a few years ago. I knew that was a mistake at the time. He was just up and coming and we got rid of him because we had Halak and then Elliot.

Both Conference Finals series are currently 2-2. After Monday, two teams will be up 3-2. Tonight continues the Eastern Conference Finals with the Tampa Bay Lightning at the Pittsburgh Penguins. Good luck to both teams tonight in the Steel City.

A bit of off-topic material... the horse Nyquist, named after Detroit Red Wing Gustav Nyquist, lost the 141st Preakness Stakes, finishing 3rd. Exaggerator won the event. Maybe we should have a few more horsies named after NHL players. I know the owner is a big NHL fan.

Kane's played a ridiculous amount of hockey the past few years. They won the cup in 2012-13, went to the finals and lost in 7 games in 2013-14, he played in the Olympics, and then they won the cup again in 2014-15. 3 straight years playing and practicing from September into mid/late June. Must be incredibly exhausting to play that much, win the cup in late June, take a few weeks off and you're only 6 weeks away from training camp for the next season.

Been off of this thread for some reason... Wasn't getting notifications I guess but holy crap, Pens score with 1.1 left n the clock in the first.

@prousonhairy I know, fairly is not equal to too :D I'm rooting for the sharks as you probably gathered :P
@Noob616 I'm not convinced of that, just look at ovi. Besides I just know you are happy who won the cup, they deserved it 👍

Now for the game on now, I've been a tampa fan all season but I feel they are still playing dirty. It's a shame the pens have no recourse other than do the same so..... bring back the enforces as we spoke of earlier. Anyway this has been another very good game by both teams.

I can hardly wait for this years finals no matter who is in it 👍 Go pens!

On a side note, when is the last time anyone has seen embellishment called? Lets bring that back along with the goons please.

I think you're severely underestimating how hard NHL hockey is on your body. Non playoff teams have a whole 2 extra months of rehab and rest compared to a team that played in the cup finals.

The alternative explanation would be that Team USA didn't want the best American player in the world which is pretty doubtful.

This is what makes teams like the Blackhawks and to an extent the Kings(not as much as the Hawks because it seems like the year after they won the cup those times, they weren't very good) so impressive. To play that level of playoff hockey year after year is a major grind.

Sixty minutes didn't solve anything in Pittsburgh. Tack on one more period, and it was Tampa Bay who got the last laugh on this night with a 4-3 victory over the Pittsburgh Penguins. Tampa Bay has the advantage now in this series. Pittsburgh will need to win in Tampa Bay on Tuesday to bring this series to a Game 7. Otherwise, it will be Tampa Bay awaiting the winner of the SJ-STL series to Lord Stanley's Cup.

Speaking of St. Louis and San José, that game is tomorrow night in St. Louis. Game 5 of the Western Conference Finals. Series tied 2-2.

To play at any level in the nhl is a huge grind but you are right, to stay at the top is really something. There are of course things such as roster depth, coaching and general managing as well.

I still wish I had an answer about Kane however and there is a reason It's bugging me. He is a poster child for the nhl, if not one of the top nhl players(which he is), definitely a top U.S. player, crowd pleaser, ambassador of the game.

Someone of that stature could surely have done whatever he pleased in the cup without disrupting the team or game plan, in other words; pic his minutes and shifts etc., what line even. I cannot imagine any case where anyone on the U.S. team, coach or player or water boy, would say, "no we don't want this guy in any capacity he comes with".

I refuse to believe he simply didn't want to because he was tired, not until he says it anyway.

.....

So the pens lost in a very good game, onto the next one which should be good as well. I think the puck drops in about 8 hours from now and I'm already waiting

It's a trip back to the Midwest in the Gateway to the Midwest. Game 5 of SJ-STL will mean the San José Sharks at the St. Louis Blues. This series is tied 2-2. Who'll get the psychological advantage by going up 3-2 after tonight? This series is still going back to San José regardless of who wins this game tonight.

Recently wrapped up...

St. Louis Blues... singing the blues. They failed to San José by a 6-3 margin. St. Louis will need to win at San José on Wednesday for this series to go the seven-game distance. Will this one return to St. Louis for a Game 7? We'll find out this Wednesday in San José.

Tomorrow night is the Western Conference Final Game 6 match in Tampa Bay. If Tampa Bay wins tomorrow night, the Lightning will be playing for the Stanley Cup against the STL-SJ winner.

Tuesday night hockey. You want it? You got it.

Tampa Bay leads the PIT-TB series 3-2. If Tampa Bay wins tonight, the Lightning will be through to the Stanley Cup Final to meet the winner of SJ-STL. Pittsburgh must win tonight in Tampa Bay for their season to last one more day and force a Game 7 in Pittsburgh this Thursday. Who will win this one? We'll see tonight!
