Didn't get to see much of it but MTL won 3-0 over the Rangers. Wonder how much time Tortorella has left in New York, his act seems to be wearing thin.

Does one of you guys use the NHL Game Center thingie as well? I've renewed my sub after some time and ran into 2 issues.

1) It's choppy on my PS3. Even when it scales down to 480p it's pretty bad. I can watch the same game at 3000kbps on my PC without any issues.

2) Is there a way to hide the DVR controls in fullscreen on my PC? It's annoying. I don't mind the black bar on the bottom but I'd like to hide the controls.

I've been meaning to try it for ages, not got round to it. :(

Apart from the 2 things mentioned above it was always pretty great and the quality of the stream is extremely good. I guess you can still get a refund if you're not satisfied. :)

Will keep it in mind! 👍

Great reply from the Wings, 2-1 up now against the Canucks.

EDIT: 3-2 Canucks now, pretty goals.

I saw most of the third period of the BOS at FLA game after watching the Daytona 500. Congrats to the Bruins for downing the Panthers.

Everyone should watch the PHX @ CGY game. Seriously, even if you can only watch the last third. You won't regret it. :D

I just saw the highlights to last night's Edmonton at Chicago game. Man... the Blackhawks are very impressive. They HAVE to be Stanley Cup favorites unless some sort of epic collapse happens.

Here's something I've always wanted to ask about this season. In last year's NBA lockout-shortened season, some thought the Miami Heat's title run was compromised since they won in a shortened season. Would you downplay this NHL season's champion because of a shortened season; or would you honor and respect the champs for winning regardless of a shortened season?

People will rag on it for a while, but eventually it'll be forgotten. In the last lockout-shortened season ('94-'95), the Devils won the cup. Initially, Rangers fans joked about how the Rangers won a real cup in '94, and the Devils won a half a cup in '95, but over the years it just blends into the years and people forget.

If anything, I think it's more impressive. The NHL season is too long IMO, and by the time the playoffs roll around everyone is worn down and is nursing injuries. After 48 games, players will be even more intense and prepared for the playoffs. 48 games is enough that everyone is in top form, but not so many that everyone is injured and exhausted from an 82 game grind. Depends on the team too, if the Canucks finally win one, they'll get ripped on for not winning a real cup yet. Sports fans will be sports fans, but just like the Devils the 48 game cup win will blend into the others and the half season will be forgotten.

Its less impressive for me.

[Edit]: Simon Gagne back to Flyers for pretty cheap. 3rd round pick of this year if the Flyers make the play-offs, 4th round if not.

[Edit2]: Michael Ryder back to Montreal in exchange for Erik Cole, Habs also get a 3rd round pick.

Its just a shorter season, less games, less injuries, less chemistry, less everything and the older players havent really turned it on yet.

The older players haven't been completely worn down by injuries. 48 games is more than enough for chemistry to build and get your season going.

Ideally I'd like the season to be around 65-70 games or so. 82 is just too many with the speed of the game today.

EDIT: Habs Leafs tonight, looking forward to hopefully finally winning one against them.

Holy crap Calgary! They signed Ryan O'Reilly for a 2-year 10MILLION DOLLAR CONTRACT! Waiting for the Avs answer, Avs would get a 2013 1st and 3rd round picks from Calgary.

[Edit]: 1millions salary this year+2.5mill signing bonus and then 6.5 for next year. Are they mad?!

No... 5M cap hit isn't bad at all. The 6.5M in year 2 is to make it hard for Colorado to match it. O'Reilly really is a hell of a player.

But 10mill, is too much for him!

[Edit]: 6.5 hard? Doubt it, they matched it all ready.

10M over 2 years isn't bad at all. That's what Bergeron and Plekanec get, and he's a very similar player. It's the cost of those kinds of players nowadays. Scary part is the 6.5M qualifying offer after year 2.

Habs-Pens tonight, hope MTL can pull off a win, then Boston tomorrow. Two important games.

Yes please. They're all two way centers that are good for about 55-65pts a year. Please do tell why O'Reilly isn't worth 5M but Plekanec and Bergeron are. I'm not saying he's better than those two, Bergeron is the best of the three, then Plekanec, then ROR, but they all have a similar play style and similar outputs. He's worth every penny of a 5M per year contract.

His good dont get me wrong. But 5mill, not yet just not yet. 3.5-4 would be better. But his not going to accept that.

[Edit]: Forgot the reason, lol. He just have not proven his skills to me yet.

[Edit2]: You guys think the Blackhawks record should count as a NHL record or Western Conference record? Because they havent played against any Eastern teams. I think its a West record not NHL.

I do agree that he's probably worth about $4M now, but their hand was forced by the offer sheet and $5M really isn't that bad. What ROR thinks he's worth is part of it too.

As for Chicago, I think it'll go down as an NHL record. You do have a point though because it's only western teams.
