If Horizon Zero Dawn didn't have my current attention, I'd actually be picking up a Switch tomorrow because of BotW.

I'll wait until next week, local GameStop got like 40 (20 of each color) which was like 3 times the pre-order amount... might try to snag a pro controller first, though.

I can say the exact thing, though adding to it that if it weren't for Zero Dawn I'd be losing my mind knowing I probably won't be able to pick up the Switch (and BotW, obviously) until May or June.

I'm driving out at midnight to pick up Breath of the Wild on Wii U. I wonder if our small town 24-hour Walmart will have anyone there for a Switch. I'm going to get the console but not until later.

It's hard not to be excited for this.

I'm trying not to expect too much from it, but it seems like it could be the Zelda game I always wanted but didn't think to wish for.

I'm not sure if this is inappropriate to post in this thread, but BoTW is now able to boot in the Cemu emulator. However it still crashes once you start up a new game. The Cemu devs think they'll iron it out in the coming weeks.

Same here. I don't buy new consoles on launch to avoid potential issues with early models, so I plan on getting a Switch when Super Mario Odyssey comes around.

I'm back with Breath of the Wild. It's installing at the moment, or else I wouldn't be here.

Regarding the numbers of consoles in stores, I can report that our Walmart in a city of about ~6000 people received eight Switch consoles. There were five people there at midnight to get one.

Got mine at midnight! Caved and bought BOTW Special Edition when it was staring me in the face! Couple of hours in and it's magnificent. Love the Switch, it's so small and so well put together. Don't freak out when you slide the Joy-Con straps on and can't get them off! They do come off it just takes a bit of force! Believe me at 12.30 am when you think you have put them on incorrectly and you think you've knackered your Joy-Cons it's not a good feeling! Happy Switchmas everyone, enjoy!

I'm just about to head back into town and pick up the Grey Switch along with the Collectors Edition of BOTW!

I'll pick up some other bits (may include pro controller etc too)


Now have a Switch, Zelda Collectors + charge and play thing, Zelda expansion code and a carry case. Was going to get the pro pad but I'll play it more mobile than in its dock.

But hey, Breath of the Wild is so good that just being able to look at it and taste it should be on par with playing most other games, right?

My nine year old daughter made me promise to buy 1 2 Switch basically for the rocking the baby to sleep game! We played the game for 2 hours straight when she got in from school tonight and had great fun. I completely agree it should have been bundled with the console but I'm glad I bought it all the same.

So yeah, seems like no Switch for me. Oh well, it just means I'll definitely be able to focus solely on Nier Automata rather than trying to play it and Breath of the Wild concurrently.

I did get my copy of BotW though, so that's cool. Since I won't be putting my 200 GB MicroSD card into a Switch just yet, I discovered one interesting way you could store them:

After a long day at school, I finally got to try out the Switch, and it was well worth the wait: it feels solid and well-built, and I just love how easy it is to go from handheld mode to TV mode or tabletop mode. The Joycons may look small, but they are surprisingly comfortable even when holding only one of them with the strap. As @PzR Slim stated above, you'll need some force if you want to take out the Joycon straps once you installed them.

As for Breath of the Wild, I've already completed 5 Shrines, and hoo boy, am I in love with this game. It can be a difficult game at times, but it's not a frustrating kind of difficult. I may also get FAST RMX later on, it could scratch my racing game itch until Mario Kart 8 Deluxe drops. Speaking of MK8 Deluxe, I've even dropped the idea of making a quick MK8 tournament with my schoolmates when possible, even though I know well it isn't going to fall through.

Same here! Girlfriend brought over her copy of 1 2 Switch and it's utterly fantastic. Such a good laugh!

The Switch is a real class act. I'd say much better build quality than the Wii or WiiU and more like the 1st gen 3DS.

I was suprised by the heft of it.

I am currently seeing a Twitch stream of "Fast RMX." Wow- this game looks impressive! The different effects and the flow of the game are solid. As much as I am a WipEout fan, this game looks great. It is like a more beautiful and much faster Flashout game (if you've played any of those Android racers). Problem is that certain hard hits and certain hazards will destroy your ship. This is a crazy fast futuristic racing game.

edit: I guess tl;dr: the Switch in docked mode runs worse than the Switch in portable mode. But there's still some frame drops in portable mode, as low as 20 fps (same minimum in Docked mode). Eurogamer doesn't exactly know why these drops occur.

Breath of the Wild has been awesome so far and the Switch system itself feels very well made. I am presently surprised with the UI as well, I miss the classic Nintendo charm with menu songs, but it is so much better than the Wii and Wii U UI that I can forgive them for the lack of catchy tunes. The Pro controller is also fantastic, the best controller Nintendo has made since the GameCube.

Fast RMX is great fun as well but it just reminds me of how much I want another F-Zero. Come on Nintendo, give us another Metroid and F-Zero!
