the RB26 is so difficult to fit in S13's though, i'd rather go with an RB25, or even an RB20. in fact, i'm thinking of dropping in an RB20 eventually. i just like the roar...

well, if you could explain the big difference between those 3 engines for me i would agree . but theyre both straight-sixes. and it`s not too much difference. but if i was to choose between the RB20 and RB25 i would go for the RB20. a much more rev-willing engine and supposed to be "stronger" built.

anyways, i would stick to my good old ca18 ;) i think theyre great engines if only taken care of. but just got confirmed that i`ll be the happy owner of a Silvia S15 Spec-R within the next 6 months(paperwork, transport from japan to europa and all of that bullcrap). with that car and GT4 in house i`ll never have a social life again :dopey:

i know. but there seems to be less problems with those engines. atleast after what i`ve experienced and read. so i would choose the RB20 over the RB25.

cause power isn`t anything ;)

It also depents on which RB20 that is refered too. The red tops are known to have problems.I dont know what experiences you've had but RB series engines as a whole are quite reliable engines. I own a RB25 and had no problems whatsoever.

i am fully aware of their reliability :) but the one of them with the most problems is the RB25. i have a friend with a RB25 engine in his RS13 and he`s almost had no problems at all with it. but comparing to the RB26 i`s not all that good. and i`ve always seen the RB25 as the middle engine. with the best of both worlds but without being on top... kinda.

altought i envy you, i would really want a RB-powerplant in my car. but it`s better with a SR for drifting i think so i`ll jsut stick to mine. besides, i can`t afford to get more then 350 rwhp. and that is more than enough :)

EDIT: refering to the blacktops

I'm actually quite interested in the RB myself, as it seems like it may be a more affordable swap than an SR, at the moment.

i agree you can get a R32 RB20 front clip complete for less then what you would a incomplete sr20 motorset (with a cut harness and missing igniter chip)

i could get an Rb20 or an SR for the same price of 2k for a full front clip, so i just have to decide. i'd rather get an RB though...even though its heavier, i just wanna see muscle car guys' faces when they realize i have 6 cylinders instead of 4 O_O

either direction you take would be cool id personally prefer the RB over the SR and KAT would be for the people looking for bang for the buck ...personally i like the way a KA24DE sounds over the SR20 (deeper and more flat noted then the SR) and i would prefer a RB swap over both

although its old i have a silvia

and this is what i plan to do with the front

sweet car 👍 i like the s12 :) might even buy one as a winter-car. it has the perfect setup for norwegian winters(we have lots of snow :D)

but i`m not sure if i would like it with the S14a frontclip..... wouldn`t fir to the rest of the car. altough it is the best frontclip to that car.

Nice car Donrevey...

That has got to be the worst Photoshop I have seen in a long time... However, I also agree with Moriquendi... The Kouki S14 front clip will look seriously out of place on an S12... I say keep the front how it is and stay true to the original Silvia design...

;)

I guess that I should post. I have a 1993 Nissan 240SX SE Fastback, or I like to call it a Sil-80.

Interior:
Sparco Carbon Fibre pedals
Sparco 4 point racing belts
Silvia steering wheel
JDM gauge cluster (km/h only)
Gutted rear end (took 80lbs out)
Pioneer Premier CD player

Suspension:
Tein S.Tech Springs

Motor:
1998 SR20DET Red Top
Top Speed stainless downpipe
Cone Intake (because the motor didn't come with anything sticking off of the MAFS and I really don't want crap in my motor)
Turbo XS H-RFL Blow off valve
Walbro 255LPH Fuel Pump

Exterior:
S13 front end conversion
Triple projecter head lights

heh i dont think nissan made a 98 sr20det redtop :) 98 was the last year for the 180sx and those came with blacktops unless your engine was/is a blacktop with a redtop valvecover

omg those 2 cars dont even match , one car on the left is black the other on the right is white .... wtf *edit* didnt see the black body panels on the outeredge of the pics ... your car used to be white ?

they made the type x until 99 ;) but yeh, think they stopped the redtop production when the s14 came out.

anyways, nice car :)

Well, as far as the 1998 thing goes, the Serial plate inside the engine bay says 1998 and as far as I know it's a red top. I bought the motor from a company that gets them shipped from Japan so I don't know what was done with the motor or entire car until I acquired it.

And the two color thing. My car is black and always has been but I bougth an entire front clip that was white. The picture of the SR was when it was still in the front clip.

There is also a pick of the reason I bought all this stuff. I will take a picture of the serial plate in the engine bay just to show.

maybe someone swapped a redtop into a 98 because their engine blew? but redtops weren't manufactured in 1998, the last year they were used in a production car was in 93.

Going by the pic that SR isnt a 98, it has no VCT, the cam cover is not red and doesnt slant at the rear.

Although the front cut you got the engine out of seems later model due to the ABS.

my old car, a nissan 180sx s13 hatchback from 1990 had ABS.... so that has absolutly NOTHING with the year it was made to do.

but i dunno bout the redtop thing. unless it has VVL(NOT VCT or VVT or anything like that) it`s atleast not a blacktop

Is that right? I havent seen any earlier 180sx's with ABS yet.

earlier 180sx's didn't come with ABS =\

and that SR is a redtop from it LOOKS LIKE a 92. like i said before, somebody must have put a redtop in a later model car.

I'm looking for right and left rear calipers for an S13 (93' 240SX)...

My rear calipers are sticking and it looks like they will need to be replaced...

Suggestions?...

;)

I drive an S-chassis but it's a 240SX, not a Silvia.

IMO, if it rolled out off the lot in North America - IT'S A 240, not a Silvia/180/Sil-80/One-via/S14.5/whatever... Sorry, that's just a pet-peeve of mine. :guilty:

Well it may not be a Silvia, but it still includes S14 in its chassis code.

Nice car BTW.

I think you exceeded your bandwidth, the pics aren't working, Ottoman... However, I did see some of the other pics... Nice R33 GTR....

I feel kind of inadequate now, but I'll post pics of my NEW S13 anyway....

I can provide proof if it is needed, but I think it's pretty realistic that I own a '93 240SX...lol....

;)

Heh, same color as mine. GL with your project.

Word man. Much respect for keeping it real and not being a poser who calls their car something else.

Nice ride... What is it, a 90?... Did you swap in the SR20DET yourself?... Or is it a JDM model?...

;)

Yea, 90. SR swap was pretty straight forward, I've done two before (one not owned by me, and then one in my late S14, which got wrecked), so its no prob. We did the SR swap and the 5 lug conversion in the same weekend, team of 5 of us working on it. All the main work on my vehicle, short of my drive-shaft fabrication, was done by myself and my crew.

edit: Good choice on the coupe. Rear end is more stable than the hatches, as all they are is a glorified roadster. That huge rear window doesnt really help with frame stability. They're also lighter than hatches =)
