No Cockpit eye level Hood view for standard cars CONFIRMED

I haven't read the thread but I'll chime in and say I wish they had an eye level camera for all cars in this game. Really, it's amazing that they don't for most of the cars. The last couple of days have made me less excited for the game. Just get here soon before I find out more bad news.

Check out Tekken's standard cars videohttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7s-z5NPUgNE at 0:19 you will see that the roof view is as good as it's gonna get for anything close to a proper hood view at cockpit eye level.

Wow PD really? Couldn't give us cockpit view on all cars, okay I get that, how about giving us a nice hood view, nope not even that.

I agree with that, thats for me (until I play the game) the most disappointing aspect of GT5...:nervous:

I saw from a video on YouTube that Standard cars do in fact have no interior view. Not even the fearful Gran Turismo PSP interior view didn't even show up in GT5 from that video I saw. I seem to be one of the few to find the roof view to be equally effective. I'm not offended at all about a lack of a cockpit view. A roof view on a Standard car is just as effective as an interior view on a Premium car to me. I know people are going to graciously disagree with me (nothing new), but that's my view on this whole issue.

We've dealt before. And don't give me anything along the lines of "this is the PS3, so any prehistoric or previous-gen practice is unacceptable today." It just means I won't get to enjoy any in-car views. And to be honest... I do like in-car views, but I don't use these views often, so there's nothing for me to be so upset about. It just means I'll be okay while most others will be fully upset.

I half agree with you. Roof cam if anything, is the most advantageous view by far. not only does it give you the same if not better sense of direction that makes the cockpit view better than the bumper and chase cam, it also gives you a better view of the cars placement, the other cars and the course itself. I just don't like it because the cokpit view is more immersive and I like to actually see that unique qualities of the car I'm driving & plainly because I'm no longer used to roof cam and honestly will avoid driving standard cars totally.

Where I strongly disagree is your defense of the idea and that the fact that this is a step backwards for this game is indeed 100% valid and very true. It's bad for the series and it is a leap back. All racing games on these consoles that are worth mentioning have cokpits besides forza 2. you can't say that it's not a step back. I mean kaz says he wants the game to be innovative. what's innovative about taking away something so completely basic as fully modelled cars? exactly, it's not innovative, it's the opposite. I've said it before & will again, it's bad for the series and they should have just went for 400 cars like forza. hell they should've almost completely copied forza's car list and added f1 cars because at least then, it would be a balanced list of cars instead of the japanese kaz car collection that we have

What?!?!! Really? I have thought of the same thing, if the damn Bugatti wasn't a standard car maybe I could do that, but I can't believe you could really say that as if you aren't pissed about having 800 junk last gen cars in the game.

Clearly you've never read any of my previous posts at all have you. I've vented my frustration at the fact the veyron is standard...many a time...even in the actual thread for it! And previously (like a year now) I have mentioned the only view I use is cockpit and I said I'll only drive premiums but I also put earlier on that when the game requires me to i'll use standards....:dunce:Geez. ...some people really need to read before they write...👎

Oh and isn't it my decision as to what I do?

To reply quickly before this goes too off topic we are talking about something that happened thousands of years ago. I am aware of carbon dating, but you probably arent aware that carbon 14 has only existed for a few thousand years. Also, many have said that a great flood can severely alter the physical environment around us (which is another thing that you havent taken into consideration in your "math" equation).

I'd really like to debate this, but yes, off-topic. My point still holds true though. The comparison may not be the perfect one, but it delivers. Thanks for the link, I'll take a look at it. Sadly, I'm only high-school level. You'd probably disprove anything I throw at you anyway. :indiff:

But honestly, I can't be bothered. I just want these 8 days to fly through quickly.

I believe in evolution. but you're supposed "proof" of the BUMPER cam being a cockpit cam without a car is completely bogus. it takes a guilible person to fall for things like that. I'll say it only once more, cockpit view is not the same height for each car, bumper cam is, END OF STORY. stop trying to get people to use that view so that they can't pass you online because they can't see anything lol it's infantile and it says a lot about your racing skills. go back to school, because if anything, you're giving evidence to these weirdos that there is no evolution of species

1.) Ad hominem wont make your argument any more convincing.
2.) I don't have Prologue and by no means I have the urge to be first place in online races. Only offline because it's actually helps with 100% completion.
3.) I'll quote your TREMENDOUSLY CONVINCING arguments against the actual guy (Falango) with proof.

so you're really going to try and say the height changes car to car with bumper cam? because I'm pretty sure cars do last time I looked.

*Responds with a question
*Because he's "pretty sure".

*But it takes an intelligent person to consider and analyze the proof instead of blowing it off.

I'll say it only once more, cockpit view is not the same height for each car, bumper cam is, END OF STORY.

*Tries to prevent the opposition from retaliating.
*Sounds fishy, don't you think?

4.) My preference of views is not part of this argument. I never stated my preferences in the camera views. I was only commenting on your egotistical and ignorant comment (or at least how you worded it). But if your personality is being an ass, then I wont judge.

If you want this on-topic discussion about the camera angles to go on, then I suggest backing up your statements with as much detail as the guy did (ie. with actual software) rather than END OF STORY. And with this, I declare you to be on the losing side, and the guy with the proof would win the judges with his professional presentation of his facts.

Nothing against you, bro. We're all waiting for the 24th.

Kaz never "took away" anything. We wouldve been waiting even longer for all cars to have interiors. And I find this "he couldve had 400 premiums instead of 1000 cars" to be wrong as well. It wouldve taken longer for such a tradeoff. What you are forgetting is that he built those cars from the ground up and remember that Forza 3 had lots of rehashed cars that was part of that 400 cars list.

I get that the bumper view is the cockpit view without the cockpit, but I really need to see some bit of my car. I could accept that in GT4 days, but today I want to feel like I'm atleast I'm in a car eg a cockpit view or a hood view that tells me what color and what model car I'm driving. There a certain level of ownership I get when seeing my car.

I cannot be more ok ! thats exactly my point of view + I just dont understand how people do not complain about the lack of a hood cam in GT5 and how they could support and play with the ridiculous unrealistic non sense roof cam (especially seeing the antenna on a rally car...)

+ you are right we must show our disappointment for this, maybe a sony or polyphony employee read this and implement a hood view by a patch or in gt6...

also there was a hood view in some demos, why the hell remove this view from the full game ?!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

thats inexcusable from polyphony...I could understand the logic behind standard cars, or limited damage...but creating a hood view than removing it ?!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Wes, you are very much so entitled to your own opinion. You are also entitled to ne wrong. In the case of First Person view being the same on all cars, you are very incorrect. Put GT4 in your PS3 or 2, pick a track and try several vehicles. Such as the PD F1 car, then the Dodge Ram, then a GTR, then an Audi R8, then the Nike car, followed by the Model T. Obviously, use FP view!

Check other game's FP view, the ARE bumper cams!

@Newb (not being mean) Now realizing where you are in the track while in FP view. No, you are not as wide as your display. Your car is as wide as the gauge cluster's right/left edges. Get on a track in that view. Stop right next to a line with the edge of the gauges. Then cycle through the views.

You've been presented with evidence and dismissed it in an abusive fashion. Prove it to yourself.

well you proved you're gullible by not realizing I was being sarcastic when i said I'm pretty sure all cars aren't the same height LOL have you been in a parking lot? next time look around, because I'm PRETTY SURE you'll see they aren't the same height, and neither is the actual cockpit view. and that time I wasn't being sarcastic because I'm honestly not sure if you can see that cars aren't all the same height because if you would fall for his "proof" your eye sight can't be very good

OK few basics here guys.

Keep this thread on topic, anyone who posts in regard to conspiracy theories, religion, etc will be getting an infraction.

Argue the point, don't attack the person. Next one who does gets an infraction.

Don't double post. Next one who does gets an infraction.

Use basic grammar such as the correct use of capital letters. Next one who doesn't gets an infraction.

Follow the AUP. Next one who doesn't gets an infraction.

This thread is a breath away from getting a lock and the members posting in it who are tossing the AUP out the window even closer to getting infractions.

To be blunt the staff are busy enough around here without this playground nonsense (33 posts of off-topic crap and abuse I can do without having to sort out and delete). You want to debate religion, 911, etc then find the correct thread and go do it (we have both), but be warned when you do so bring your A game.

This thread is about cockpit level views, keep to that. You will not be reminded again.

Probably the only positive person in this thread :P but the standard cars look much better in motion than I thought they would :S, shows how much detail PD puts in considering these cars were modeled around 2001-2004.

So hang on a minute in GTPSP every car has a black frame sort of fake cockpit view but in GT5 only 200 of the cars have a cockpit view and there is no alternative for any standard car?

And a little off topic but there are more tracks in GTPSP than GT5.

It feels like PD really messed up with this one. Personally I think that you have to take GTPSP and build on it so every car would have a cockpit or a fake cockpit or hood view. There would be lots more tracks, at least as many from the portable version. Then I would add features around that and if I needed to trim the number if cars down or maybe tracks then so be it but at least the basics would be covered.

You were bored and thought: hey, let's find another thing to moan about?

This forum has turned into a melting pot of complaints.

bummer, but not a deal breaker. Hopefully, a dashboard view or bonnet view will be in a GT5 patch/update or GT6?
:)

I can't believe there's no hood cam...
it's awful...
No cockpit? No hood cam? No use of standard cars with a proper wheel.
I want to play gt5 with a wheel, I want it to be a simulator, not a micro-machines arcade game to play with a gampad.

VERY DISAPPOINTED

You can't drive standards with a wheel? i.e g25?...I think your mixing your words or something. We can use wheel with any car.

for me the whole cock-pit cam thing is no loss. I drive with a wheel. i dont need to see another wheel and a cock-pit taking up valuble space on my screen, just give me the bumper cam!

As long as I have bumper cam I'm happy. Interior view is cool to look at, but not to race in. I've tried many, many times to use the interior view efficiently and set a good lap time and I can't do it. I think it's so much harder to hit the apex with interior view cause sometimes I can't see over the hood to where the middle of the corner is.

Pathetic,PD.
Just pathetic. I mean how hard can it be to implement ?
A decent hood view would really have improved the standard cars.
This just shows again PD doesn't have their priorities straight

I race using the bumper cam, so I am okay. Hell it's even better than inside view, IMO. Just like seeing the whole road. I am one of the people who don't care about the interior view. I miss the other features that are gone though.

:(

because we already have a roof cam? I mean really, you're complaining about a better view of the track? that makes a lot of sense

that makes no sense. when you drive in real life, is all you see a DFGT or a g27? hell no, you see what you're driving. the cockpit view is the most realistic and you're little argument there is rediculous although I would die laughing if I saw some moron walking down the middle of the street, pretending to be driving with a g27 in his hands, dragging the cables along behind him LOL that's you buddy

Yeah I cant race with cockpit view. Something about videogames, you feel like you're sitting in the backseat, you cant see hardly anything.

It seems like they move the camera back just so they can let you see that everything they modeled, but the truth is when you drive you own car you can see more. I wish they would let you adjust the position of the camera in cockpit view.

sorry bro but there never once was a hood cam in the demos. it was always roof cam. it's just hard to tell, BECAUSE THERE"S NOT THAT BIG OF A DIFFERENCE!!!!!!

It's the difference between siting down and standing up. One is a proper racing point of view the other an eighteen wheeler truck driving perspective.
