yes I'm sad there's no cockpit view but what are you gonna do,
that's how the Japanese work, it was for the greater good...i think

It shouldn't be so hard to implement a limitless camera, that you can place whereever you want. inside the car anywhere in any angle or even into the trunk, if you want to.
That's a great idea but it would still require an interface for the user to setup the camera. I think just implementing a proper hood cam would be the simplest solution for all the Cockpit only drivers who just want to know they are driving a car and not some invisible flying carpet. Seriously a proper hoodcam is the bare minimum in every racing game out there does not have cockpit view.
Yeah I cant race with cockpit view. Something about videogames, you feel like you're sitting in the backseat, you cant see hardly anything.
that makes no sense. when you drive in real life, is all you see a DFGT or a g27? hell no, you see what you're driving. the cockpit view is the most realistic and you're little argument there is rediculous although I would die laughing if I saw some moron walking down the middle of the street, pretending to be driving with a g27 in his hands, dragging the cables along behind him LOL that's you buddy
...what's wrong with the roof cam that we had in GT4? It's clearly still in the game, and tbh I find it a very functional method of racing. Sure it's not a full blown cockpit, but christ; you're being given 1000+ cars; meticulously modelling every single one would've taken a decade or more.
What is WITH the hate-and-disappointment brigade storming the forum? If I didn't know better, I'd say that GT5 was the worst driving sim ever crafted judging by some of the comments I'm reading.

The whole taking forever to model interiors is an excuse, nothing more. PD has a huge staff, and the 1000+ cars are hardly all vastly different. Let's see....9 NASCAR cars with the same cockpit...various Civics, Skylines, Miatas, etc with very similar cockpits.
PD does not have a huge staff. And there are a 1000 cars to choose from and still many different type of cars. And they managed to put in more content in this game than any other racing game dev company ever.
Their staff ain't small, that's for sure. And honestly, I couldn't care less if there's 100,000 cars if they don't all drive believably. Quality over quantity. If they claim they don't have the staff nor time to model cockpits, then what can be said about the actual driving physics (you know....the real meat to the game), especially the standard cars? They going to just port the GT4 physics over?
I find it alarming during this whole dev process, they never have gone in detail to what they've changed under the hood. Its been all glitz and glamor.
Yeah I'm surprised, I thought Kaz was working on something for all us Cockpit view only drivers, eg a nice proper hood view at the same eye level as the cockpit view, so we could atleast feel like we were still in a car. Even Forza 2 did this. WTF
They used all that staff to write the new game engine.
The physics are part of the game engine.
New game engine equals new physics.
Inquiry resolved!
sorry bro but there never once was a hood cam in the demos. it was always roof cam. it's just hard to tell, BECAUSE THERE"S NOT THAT BIG OF A DIFFERENCE!!!!!!
i think some people might have been refering to this demo (:39) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nwdtru7ztro this would have been a fantastic alternative to no cockpits for standard cars.
A little disappointed with pd choices i've seen over the past few days. Seems as though they should'nt have scrapped the whole gthd (gran turismo 4 upscaled to hd) that was supposed to release in the first year of the ps3. Probably would of had a better track list and the cars in gt5 are the same as gt4 with only a couple add ins.

Then why haven't they touted the game as having the best driving physics out there? Why haven't there been videos showing improvements? Oh wow rolling...that was in games 15 years ago.
I have a feeling its largely the same as before, which really wasn't anything special or believable. I want to race cars. Not ogle over them in photo mode.
It's a roof cam, at 4:02 with a GT by Citroen passing by indicate the cam is over the windshield at roof height. Like in this other video, what seems to be a bonnet cam is in fact over the windshield.

I always used roof view so this whole standard vs premium thing is just funny to me
I doubt an SLS driver would have his eyes at the same height as a GTR35's spoiler, if it was a hood view the cam wouldn't be angled down that much or you'd have the hood covering half the screen, I'm pretty sure Paris Hilton can't see the nose of the bonnet like in this picture, it's clearly a cam at the edge of the roof over the windshield, not on the roof but at the same height.
