I find it funny, on this freezing cold planet (pretty much like Hoth...) that has extreme storms that kill your sheilding in 30secs, I saved myself by making a hole into a big gold rock, getting into it, and hollowing it out from the inside - while doing this my shield recharged from the "warmth" :dopey:

On that note, playing this game, is like we are the Alien invaders from various movies.
We come in, leech the land of resources and leave....

i once found shelter in a huge gold nugged as i call them :) just digg in

I have to do it almost every time I'm mining gold to cool down, unless it's night. I got lucky with a great planet .... but I wouldn't want to live there

Atlas Pass V1
At last. I've been playing to get this. I now have another Atlas marked on my map plus I know there is a black hole close by too. When this game moves along the story as such it comes at a pace.

Really wishing that they could port this over to the XONE some day.

Console exclusivity kills.

Looks like you'll get your wish. It seems Sean Murray was very vague with an answer the other day, when asked he just said he wasn't sure what he's allowed to say about it ;)

Well I guess once there is a PC (Windows) version an XB version is never far away..

Well I have been finding someone that has been doing discoveries in front of me. So I kinda took a slight detour and did a one off.
Now going to try and find a new ship and see what I can do to upgrade mine.

So when I find a crashed ship is there anyway I can transfer my fully functioning stuff over to it? Like the hyperdrive, shield, etc.?

Fantastic. Starting the day off with a crash. 👎
With my PC you get used to it randomly BSODing and then not being able to start at all. :P

You should feel lucky. :P

Oh you meant you crashed your ship? I will send the salvage team to find you. May take a few years.

Nope. However, while it's certainly cheaper to find ships for free and repair them, you can purchase vendors ships and the only thing you'll have to do is recharge things like the hyperdrive; no repairs necessary.

The salvage team will try and steal my goodies like the pirates they are. No thanks!

The planet I just landed on has these clam-like plants that open up and give you an Albumen Pearl, and while it's gold mine (can we do something about item stacking?) it triggers a couple of Sentinels wanting you dead. Is it worth it though? Yeah. Six pearls are a little more valuable than two stacks of gold.

Question about upgrades and do they stack. Example, I have Beam Intensifier +2 and one +3, so is my upgrade +5 or does the +3 trump the 2 and getting rid of the +2 spot for another upgrade?

PC or PS4?

PS4. I haven't picked up the PC version yet, but believe me this isn't that much better.

Upgrades do stack.

My first download from steam didn't install. I deleted all local data, redownloaded and installed.

Haven't had any issues since. Not one crash and I'm pushing the game pretty hard.

You would think the PS4 version would be crash free.

Might try installing the game on the PS4's HD, or if you have, uninstall and reinstall.

Good luck. That would be frustrating. Especially if you've been grinding out mineral collections only to loose it all from an unsaved crash.

Hmmmm.

This is probably my least favourite game that I have played this gen, I want to like it but because of the procedural generation the performance is terrible, the narrative is poor and the gameplay boils down to mining and grinding.

I will always remember the feeling I had when I left my starter planet, it was similar to the feeling I had when I first flew a helicopter in Vice City many years ago but everything after that has felt like post-game to me.

I'm getting a bit sick of the pirates as there is no real way to escape. I was looking for some Iridium after damage from a black hole trip and got set on by 4 pirates. I know the pirates are pretty weak but when its 4 on 1 I didn't know who to attack

They do stack, but only if they are in slots next to each other.

Good to know. Still looking for more slots. Found a trader ship for sale with 21 slots. 5.5m units. I'm saving my pennies.

That's 5 more open slots than I currently have.

I got that ship off of a crashed ship. 21 slots with a 24 slot multi tool and close to 30 on the suit I think.
Came with an warp drive too.
Just needed to repair it.
Costed me most of my units too to fix it.
Back up to 600K now. and can finally skip around

Whoa!!! Good to know! I have quite a few beacons of downed ships that I have yet to investigate. Sounds like I should start there. Kind of gave up since I didn't have Atlas v! to open some of the containers, etc.

Not if you've played Pcars

Seriously though, I've had a total of 4 crashes now, in somewhere between 20 - 30 hours of playing. I save ridiculously often, thankfully the game saves every time you get out of your ship, so when I go to a space station, after I've done everything and I'm ready to leave, I get in my ship, and then get back out, so it saves, and then get back in and leave. All but one of my crashes came whilst jumping between systems, so saving before I jump to hyperspace is preventing me losing anything when it crashes.

I would no doubt be quite annoyed with the crashes if I hadn't owned Pcars since it came out. That game crashed so often that I must be desensitised to it or something lol. Hopefully Hello Games can find the cause and fix it. They've spoken about planning to support the game with updates for years, so I'm fairly confident it will significantly improve over time.

Can't wait to see the base building they've spoken about introducing in an update, but hopefully they include a way to jump directly to a world you've built a base on, otherwise I'd end up losing it within a couple of hours at the rate I'm going. I've only had the game two days and I must have been through at least 10 star systems. Only come across one that had already been discovered, but because it hadn't been named, I didn't realise right away, and held triangle to upload and rename without realising it was already discovered, and accidentally reported the poor guy (or gal) who discovered it .

What's everybody naming things? I named almost everything I came across in my first system, but since then I've adopted a policy of naming the system itself, and just keeping the default names on the planets and creatures within. You'll know if you come across any of my systems, they're all named with random, usually old man, names. They're all named like this: The (name) System. So I've got, like, The Colin System, The Gerald System, The Derek System, etc. etc.

Played a little bit today. I like the idea of the game, but it feels so much like early access. Between the glitchy and poor graphics, the constant niggling bugs, and the lack of much of anything to do except grind gear it's not a great showing for $60.

If the planets were more beautiful it'd be quite nice as an exploration simulator, but they're just so...crappy looking. Give it another couple of years and it might be worthwhile.

The Colin system sounds interesting.

I haven't started naming things yet, but I haven't traveled out of my starting system yet either.

Atlas Pass v1 doesn't give you much. Just aids in the making of Warp Cells.
Still have yet to find a v2 or a v3 out of a center.

I did do a black hole and surprisingly the only thing that got damaged was my photo beam. (Lucky enough just needed a bit of iron and it was back up and running) lol.

I tend to name my planets.... NothingToSeeHere, ThisPlaceHasNothing, NoResourcesHere etc etc
Really just trying to keep people from visiting my discoveries

I have realised now that I haven't been scanning the local wildlife, so I will probably go back to a few planets to name a few creatures...But first I really need to figure out how to get that Atlas Pass thing, really hoping that I haven't missed something that gives it to me

It was actually only the second system I named everything in. My dad's name is Colin, and my parents were visiting us while I was playing, so I did it to give him a giggle. It is a small system, with only 2 planets and one moon. I've named the planets Colin I and Colin II lol. I should have saved it for a bigger system, because I like the idea of Colin IV for a planet name  (yes I do have a strange sense of humour at times).

In my first system, I gave the planets names that reflected my thoughts of them after a few minutes in each. One was a very blue and white planet, that I expected to be extreme cold, but it was actually a bit on the hot side, so I named it "Notascoldasitlooks" lol.

Found lots of Emeril deposits on my moons. At 275 units each, makes it a better haul than gold and it's much more abundant. The sentinels don't seem to mind me mining either. :)

I find it a lot too, though I haven't found anything that needs it in crafting so I am guessing it's a money maker?

Another thing I noticed but haven't been able to confirm is I found\received an item by playing and it had a sell value of 26000 so I sold it. Then traveled to another planet and saw that a vendor would buy it for over 2 million.....not sure if I missed out on a sale of the century or the game knew I sold it earlier and is trolling me? 👎

I knew this game would do that. I'm a major horder, so,these limited slots are really cramping my style.
