Still wondering if space is ever pitch black... i'm currently travelling through a bright green haze, kind of painful on the eyes.

It's kinda rare, but it does exist. CHanges from system to system, hopefully it can be mod'ed on the PC

Also 2 PC mods!

  1. Instagram Filter Remover - Removes the ugly filter and tint that the game has. Makes the game much more clearer and beautiful. Install and try for yourself if you like it or not, personally I'm loving it.

  2. ShutUP - Allows you to select which warnings you want to remove (such as the annoying "Life Support Low"). Be sure to read the installation details.

I see that there is an update in testing right now for PC/PS4. Says it's going to make some people happy. (I am guessing it's for the constant crashing some people have, @Terronium-12 )

I've been on planets where all the animals are friendly, or all attack you.

Question. My start ship and the pre order ship have infinite Photon cannon. When I bought a ship it's Photon Canon ran out of ammo. Is that going to happen with every ship I buy, cos I don't like it?

Was wondering about that too, it's saying I need to charge it with oxides, but I can't. And it still fires away quite happily.

Yeah it's definitely a bug. My starting ship didn't do it, but every ship I've had since have (on my fifth ship currently).

I was a bit worried to begin with when it said it was empty and to recharge, but there's no bar in the inventory slot to fill up, and no option to fill it with anything. I'm guessing it used to need charging (with oxides as it says) in an older build of the game, and they've chosen to remove that so you don't end up in space with essentially no weapons. The warning to recharge it must be a left-over from the older build that they've mistakenly left in there.

Actually, the fact that the laser needs recharging and the cannon doesn't has led me to dismantling all laser tech on my ships. After the first few ships I noticed I never used the lasers, due to them needing recharging, and so on my current ship I've got absolutely no laser tech at all, and have used all those free slots for extra cannon tech. My cannons are so brutal now that I destroy pirate and sentinel ships within 2 or 3 seconds of sustained fire. My cannons fire ridiculously fast and are powerful enough that I now feel completely safe.

I've also got a few shield upgrades, which helps me fend off the pirates. It used to be touch and go destroying two pirates at a time, and I got destroyed a couple of times in my second ship trying to battle four of them at once, at a distress beacon. Last night I went to a distress beacon and had to take out 6 pirates, which I did without losing more than half my shield.

So TL; DR, if you're having any trouble fighting pirates or sentinels in space, try dismantling all of your laser tech, and use those slots for cannon and shield upgrades. You'll be practically invincible.

It might be the update containing base building and the ability to own freighters. They said that would be coming soon after the game's launch. If it's that, it would indeed make a lot of people happy.

Well I don't think that is the case given that the PC was on an experimental build of NMS. Which some have said has better framerate and less crashing. Which is going to give a lot of people who can't play a chance to play.
So if that follows the PS4 build then should have less crashes and slightly better framerate.

The lockups usually sort themselves out. I may have to reinstall the game and see if that'll help, which shouldn't take any time at all.

As a matter of fact I'll just do that. See if the crashes stop happening so often because it's at least once a day now. :grumpy:

Didn't do anything and I'm well beyond frustrated. If PSN did refunds like Steam I would sure as hell be seriously considering it right now.

I've read people with digital copies disconnecting Hardwire connection, worth a try if not already wireless.

So I'm confused. I can't tell if I really like this game, or I'm just forcing myself to like it. The last six or so planets I've been to have been nothing but rock and some caverns, but four of those were in the same galaxy, so I understand they're the same. But I find myself running around collecting plutonium (because I'm paranoid about running out,) until I have no inventory then fly around some more. But yet I still can't stop playing.

The whole, you'll never know what you'll run into next keeps me going. But I'd really like to see some more colorful planets soon.

And I'm curious, are we all playing in the same game, but we're just lightyears away from each other and by some incredibly random chance we could run into each other? Or is it a single player game that lets you eventually find planet others have discovered?

This game gives me more questions the more I play it. But I can't wait to play tomorrow.

I don't know how many more crashes I can put up with before I completely uninstall this mess. One crash while jumping to another planet, and another while entering orbit/checking my inventory.

It hasn't been crashing for me, but it slows down to half or quarter speed with about the same frequency. Three times already today. Which is just unplayable and I have to slooooooowly find somewhere to land and save so I can restart the game.

It's a shame because even with all the problems I'm really liking the game. The controls can go suck a lollipop, I swear like a sailor every time it randomly spins me around into a tree, but it keeps me coming back.

Yup, that's that I did too, add a few stacks of Oxides in your ships inventory and those pesky pirates are no longer a problem, even in large (10+) quantities.

Loving the distress call missions in space, had one with 20 enemy ships. Just stay close to the capital ships they are attacking (so you got cover from the turrets on the capital ships), and always fire away from those, unless you want some sentinels in the mix too. :D

The latter.

This game has a very classical, hardcore feel to it, reminds me a lot of the classic vector-graphics based games on Amiga and PC from the mid/late eighties (e.g. Infestation and others). You're quite literally on you own and have to figure everything out yourself, very refreshing in a time where we only see games with hand-holding and health-regen. :D

I tried flying with a controller, but the auto-center/aim mechanism is horrible, it's much easier with mouse and keyboard.

Found an Emeril deposit last night and mined into the ground, one of the walls hadn't loaded and fell straight through. For anyone wondering, you fall a looong way and land in water. Restore last checkpoint...

nVidia release a new driver that's game ready for NMS. Will test later today to see if it's any improvement. :)

I've found a system where most of the big asteroids are Emeril, and the ones that are not are Gold. :D

I do get a lot of pirates though - which is fun now that I've upgraded my cannon.

Anyone tried the experimental patch and see if it improves performance?

I would like to see how it performs at your end.

I've just recently built the three upgrades for the hyperdrive, the sigma, tau, and theta upgrades, and now I can jump ridiculously far compared to before. Only downside is my ship is so full of tech now that I have very little room for cargo (only 25 slots). I don't want to buy a new ship, because I've installed so much good tech, and I'm not too keen on searching for all the rare elements required to build them all again. Thankfully my suit has 38 slots, and I don't have much suit tech installed, so I can at least carry a fair bit of stuff on me.

Edit: Been taking a lot of screenshots. man this game can throw up some beautiful views. I'll upload them at some stage and post them here. Might wait a while first to see if anyone opens a NMS photo thread.

Edit #2: Just noticed there is now a photo thread. https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/threads/no-mans-sky-photography.348815/

Sounds like my 2nd planet, the deposits were huge, mostly consisting of Emeril and Plutonium so I could stay there til the inventory was full :D the current one isn't quite as consistent, it has cold storms and some hostile creatures so might be time to move on once I've filled up and found the last few way points for 100%. Is anyone else going for 100% bonuses?

Ok I just checked it out, and with the three hyperdrive upgrades, I can jump a maximum of 1,600 light years from my current location in one go.

I just finally hit 2 million units. Got my gold trophy. Now only got 3 more milestones and like 5 more trophies to go.

Bought my first ship. I was drooling over a 28 slot freighter for 4.5m units when another ship landed. 24 slots, plenty of nice upgrades, 1.5m. SOLD! I'm a happy camper.

I got my new monitor yesterday and really enjoyed the extra resolution. Can't say that the textures are stellar with NMS, but at 2560x1440, everything had a much smoother and realistic look to it. The grass moving in the wind is especially easier to look at. Maintaining around 80FPS so gameplay is still nice and smooth.

Also, my new favorite grind is killing sentinels. Great for mining titanium.

Just upgraded from my ugly 25 slot ship to a beauty of a 30 slot for 4.5 million :D and then completely forgot to swap the inventory over :dunce: nothing too much to grieve over thankfully

So I'm on the second planet with extremely hostile Sentinels, and while it's nothing to fret over, being interrupted every time I'm trying to read something has made me want to murder every single one of these things; hostile or otherwise.

So if I post a picture later today with an inventory full of Titanium you'll know why. :grumpy:

You still could of moved it over. (I guess there is a way)
You can buy the ship then if the old one is still there, can move everything over after the fact you bought it.
Don't know if that's only for crashed ships or ones that are at the trading post. (Unsure if it can be done at the space station)

I know how that is. Even worse if you get done reading the monolith then a milestone journey achievement pops up right after.

I tried moving it after, the game then decided I'd moved back to my old ship (and given the new one my stash before it disappeared) so I quickly shut the game down to make sure I got back to the restore point with the new ship. I won't try that again
