I started a new game and had to find my ship like you have to in survival mode. I see no good readon to fo that at all. You should be near your ship if you've crash landed.

I've fixed the launch engine and fueled it but I can't fix the engine as I need a blueprint. :banghead:

The sky at night, PS4 pro, is a complete mess. I loaded my original save and whereas the grsphics are find in a space station they are rubbish in the docking bay of my ship. :dunce:

Hi, you get all you need, just read the istructions the game get you.
Its a kind new tutorial, because of the new materials and way you craft stuff.
I was feeling the same at first few tries LOL :D

I almost died at start. You know, not only was it toxic and all but I didn't know there were little flying Sentinals. I only knew of the big walking ones (which I haven't seen yet) so I kinda mined right in front of one. Toxins and being pursued by 2 drones is not a good time.

So, I started yesterday my NMS adventure. Base PS4, normal mode.

I starter on a beautifully looking planet... With crazy high radiation. Had to be constantly filling up my shield and farming sodium. I tried to get out of there asap and went to the closest second planet, which was really hot.

Followed my tutorial until the part where you need to build your base (I didn't want any of the 2 first planets to be my home), so I visited a couple more planets and decided to build it in a "verdant planet" where temperatures are always nice and there no risk of radiation or weather storms.

The landscape is amazing! I've built my base on a huge mass of land where, just beside it, lays a humongous crashed spaceship. A little bit ahead there's a really nice lake with some islands. (I'll upload a video later to show it off :) ).

Also, there are tones of things I get a single unit from that I have no idea if I should sell or not. Yesterday I got some stuff from ruins that are only taking space in my inventory. I need to upgrade my suit...

Now I'm stuck in a quest where I need Magnetised Ferrite and I have no idea how to make it. It says:

"Create Magnetised Ferrite in a Refiner
Place Ferrite Dust in a Portable Refiner"

But when I do it, I get something else.

___

Performance wise, I've played for 5/6 hourhours without a single crash but I've noticed the clouds are crappy when landing or taking off (pixelated) and there were a couple graphical issues here and there as well as some sound glitches.

Overall it's been a very nice experience. I love walking around and exploring the planets by foot. In 5/6 hours I think I've walked tens of thousands of steps/units already. ^^

Oh, and I really don't like the controls for the ship. I'd prefer the up/down to be inverted, as it is in a lot of games similar to this. It's a shame we can't change it. I guess I have to get used to it. :/

Heya, place your material in the refiner, take the refined material and place it in the refiner again.
ferrit dust(fe)->pure ferrit(fe+)->magnetic ferrit(fe++)

I'm still getting mixed answers, did my base get deleted or just archived? I had a ton of stuff stored there and it'd be awful if it's now gone. I don't mind that the actual base itself is no longer there, I just want my stuff.

I read it gets archived. Haven't checked my old save though. All items and tech that's obsolete get converted into something else too.

EDIT: 1.3GB Update just now, let's see what they fixed. :) I have been running into a couple of weird quest/mission issues, but mostly in my favor. ;)

Hit pause and go to the last page in the pop-up. There you have some game options. I think it's in the first one.

I can't do it though. :/ Maybe it's a bug? Can anyone else change the controls on the PS4?

Thanks! I feel dumb ^^

Started a new save in creative mode because I'm terribly impatient to see the new stuff, and it looks like the colored stars that require special jump drives are where you find the really crazy environments. Like this, on the single planet orbiting a red star near my starting point:

That's not a camera filter, the entire planet just naturally looks like an '80s thrash metal album cover. And if you look closely you can see the tiny bug wings this guy is hovering around on, which I don't recall ever seeing a ground creature having prior to Next.
(Also pardon the lowered graphics, I have to run the game on Medium settings until I get some replacement parts for the computer next month.)

Got screenshots for you. Hit OPTIONS on your DS4 and then R1 until you get to the last page, OPTIONS. Click on the first bar, GENERAL OPTIONS:

Well I got off my horrible toxic starting planet last night, and the very next planet they guided me to was very lovely and peaceful, so quite happy with that. Started the base building tutorial there and have no complaints because it has some very nice looking scenery...and its not toxic :). Looking forward to continuing my journey tonight.

I'm running with probably higher graphics settings than I should and probably average about 40-50 FPS which I can live with, but every now and then I get massive drops down to like 15 FPS for a few seconds :grumpy:. I can live with better graphics at 40-50 FPS but these massive drops are a real pain...Really hope they can find some performance fixes soon too.

Hadn't played NMS for ages so I started afresh yesterday. All was good, Got to the bit where I needed to make magnetised ferrite in the base building quest. Logged off. Signed in today and spawned in a Space station in a different system and I can't find my planet/base. In the discovories menu I think I see the system/planet and I put a waypoint on it but it doesn't show up on my HUD. Confused.

Well that was strange, I saved a capital ship from getting shot up and the captain was like "ya I don't want to do this anymore, here's my billion dollar ship for offing 8 ships shooting at us." So I now have a capital ship and didn't even do anything.

Didn't happen to be this did it?

Language Warning

Yes, free capital ship for everyone now! :)

@Joey D : with regards to archived bases, there’s a quest that shows how to get to it. Haven’t tried yet myself, since I started over.

One of my ships is gone. It's a A class bug type. I was flying it yesterday and then switched to my S class bug and shot asteroids until I had the stuff to build the thing I had to build in the freighter. I sent a ship off on a mission, saved and went to bed. I get up this morning and I've gained 53,000 credits and lost my A class bug. :banghead:

My 48 slot suit with plus 1,2,3 protection for everything is now basic stuff only with loads of stuff I can salvage. Do the devs know how much time went into that?

On the upside a new save is now the way to go. I want a fleet of 50 ships earning me money. Asap.

I'll check it later. I don't think I get that second screen. Only a menu with the buttons for each function. I'll let you know :)

One tip for noobs like me:

If you don't have Hyperdrive yet, don't go with a top level guy who joins your game to another star system. ^^

Yesterday I did that. He sent us both to another system with his capital ships and top wierd spaceships, we were exploring the most beautiful planet I've seen with giant trees, animals and oceans only for my or his connection to go down. After that I was stranded in that system without a space station and no teleport or warp abilities.

Had to go back to a 3hour old save. :/

This sounds like what has happened to me, I was only two hours in so I think I'll start again. Shame though as I had enjoyed my progress thus far.

The more I read this thread, the more I want to buy this game, you guys suck.

I can get this on PC or Xbox, but right now I'm probably leaning towards Xbox as I already have the money in my MS account and nothing in Steam at the moment. I can also get something else on PC, like Space Engineers or Empyrion instead. My problem is I'm already juggling four games, The Crew 2, AC, Odyssey, FM7, and Modded Skyrim SE, so I'm trying to hold off any new games purchases for awhile.

@Pfei it works :) Thank you. I was looking in controls before.

One question: What's the purpose of Navigation Data boards? I know I can use them with the signal booster, but is there any other better thing to do with them? I have around 30 sitting around in my ships.

Asking the wrong guy. I'm a noob, too. Just bought the game on Wednesday

Well I bought No Man's Sky for the first time, I'm really hoping it's good, but from reviews on YouTube, I'm starting to think the game made a impressive comeback, good job devs.

If you got performance problems, dont try this ini editing stuff.
I was following a "performance" tutorial and after that the game was runnig with 10-20fps with extreme stuttering while flying.
The only think really works for rock solid 60fps is turning down the resolution.
Im now on 1280x720 LOL but no framedrops anymore, in any situation :D i7 6700k, gtx970, 32gb ram

That's about it. Their main purpose is to help you find a specific type of building or landmark on the planet you're on (or the nearest planet to you sometimes), so if you're looking for language artifacts or a manufacturing plant to get a new component blueprint, you can do so without having to waste an obscene amount of time wandering aimlessly. I find they're most useful for the artifacts, because occasionally they point you to a ruin that has four or five in one place.
