Oh for ****s sake. I can't believe how idiotically designed this game now is. I get a new weapon and it has broken slots, I get to a drop pod to get an extra slot and it is broken and expects me to spend to fix it. I'm done with this rubbish. They managed to turn a small game into a pretty good one with the previous updates but this one is ten steps backwards.

I don't know how it was before but I'm taking always the same materials to Drop pods because from what I've seen, they always ask the same stuff (the ionised cobalt is the hardest to get if you're in a planet without any cobalt).

It's a bit boring to refine stuff every time I get to a drop pod but at least I know what materials are needed... Up until now of course.

You just landed at them and pay for the slot. That's it.

When I had the materials to fix it yes. I lost count to the amount of things I leave closed or broken because I didn't have the items to fix them, but drop pods seem to be asking always the same stuff so when I go look for one I take the necessary items with me. Of course when I bounce into something new that is broken, more often than not I leave it there... I'm way too noon to have even seen some of the items I need to fix stuff.

That's still the case for the exosuit upgrade bought from the exosuit vendor at every space station, can still buy those with credits. I use the space station vendor for the cheap upgrades and the drop pods for the expensive ones (since those are paid with mats instead).

I'm playing in creative mode as I've got no interest in gathering resources to do everything, I just want to find a nice planet and build a base....

When I start the game though I can't seem to start base building. Is there something I'm missing?

Also it's pretty hard finding a beautiful planet in amongst the chared and strange world's hehe.

I always remember being well impressed with weapons that jammed (on purpose) randomly in Far Cry 2 - it added elements of reality to the whole game.

When you find a place you like, press Z to go into build mode, scroll over to the Portable Tech section and look for the Base Computer. So long as you're not too close to someone else's base (the computer will tell you when you plop it down), you can activate it and it'll stake out a quite large parcel of surface that you can start placing permanent things on.

Do keep in mind that once you place the computer and activate it, you can't pick it back up and move it so make sure it won't be in your way.

I'm still in the beginning stages, nearly. Almost nearly got my ship repaired, and in fact I'm enjoying myself with this game. I forgot on how to upgrade my equipment, but I'll see what I can do. Though, I won't do any bases yet. Just looking for things that I need.

Sort of ran into a player for the first time. He was on my new base planet and only a minute away by starship. I went to check him out but out of fear for hostility I stayed in the air and looped around him a couple times and headed back. Had a nice expensive fighter so I'm not messing with that. He eventually went to the space station and left the galaxy, did not seem to mind me.

Otherwise, I'm at a point where I'm starting to need a lot of resources so let the deforestation begin!

Were you on PC by chance? I saw some spaceship looping around me. So I really don’t know, if so I have the most profound luck.

Edit: never mind that. Lol. I wonder what’s the chances of meeting players.

I'm thinking about buying this but its only 30fps on a std. ps4 - but its cheap as hell since its been traded in big time over here.

Or should i get it on pc? On PS4 pro its 60fps so its future proof I guess if I get the ps4 version.

I admit I am not the most patient gamer and I really have tried this frustrating game (for me), I just find I have to keep stopping in to the UI/menus all the time as I am not sure what is going on. Graphics still not great on PS4 Pro and photo mode a little basic. I'm afraid this game is not for me and I can't take any more  and I think I will have to delete it and go back to racing games and GT Sport. 👍

In this case it adds choice to the game. You can still get the upgrade slots for money at space stations, but you can also get them for mats on planets. I'm usually stocked up on mats anyway, so it works fine for me.

Built my base in a system with four or five planets with various biomes so I'm good with all types of mats (at least for now ;)). Another thing to keep in mind is that freighters ignore star system type while jumping (as opposed to your star ship) so it's worthwhile to use it to jump to a mineral-rich system and setup shop there.

HG slowed down the pace too in this update. There are timesinks added in certain places as well as heavier/deeper crafting requirements. But if all you want to do is make nice shots, you can start in Creative and just ignore all the grinding?

well I will say I'm having fun with it, put in a good few hours yesterday but its far from perfect. Firstly I'm on PC and for some reason it runs like garbage on my system, I can't get to 60fps anywhere and I even turned it down to 900p resolution and that helped a little but it looks a little blurry. I tried the fix of changing the cores it uses in the graphics file and I also got an fps mod but both haven't helped.

The other problem I found was its a terrible idea to build a base on your capital ship. when you put terminals up the missions they give have to be done in that system so once you move the capital ship you have to do a lot of warping to get the missions done. I found out that by dismantling the terminals and putting them back up kinda reset it to the system you are in. I have all the warp upgrades so I just have to find a nice planet and I will move all my stuff to proper base I hope.

EDIT: oh and this is what the storage containers on the capital ship look like. I did manage to fall into the void on one container I placed down but luckily I had saved a few mins before so didn't loose all my stuff.

I still get the feeling theres no 'aim' in this game - yes you can spend hours building a pretty base but then what? Id love to get a message that youd get attacked in say,6 hours - then you have to build some defences to defend your base - something to aim to....

I went back to my start system in my original save. Its been replaced by a ringed planet with a different name. Still the same chilly place on the ground though. I had a marker on my original crash location, I was hoping to be able to build a base there, but it's gone.. Time to find a new home.

I have a feeling the yet-to-be-released events are going to do something about it. And yes, the game is pretty pointless, especially considering
you're in an endless loop in a simulated multiverse, so you're literally running in circles so te speak.

Ahhhh, thanks for that. I knew I was doing something wrong.

Great some of you are enjoying it. I just tried it again and it's still not the game for me.

Flying to the planets in-system is F-in boring. And something like 4+ button presses to change view?....getthe****outtahere

I've been having quite a lot of fun with the game. I'm always amazed when I enter a new planet (well, almost always ^^). The unexpected is so freaking rewarding! The fact you know that no one knows how anything looks like until you see see it is such a winner. Of course the game has its shortcomings but I can imagine what kind of crazy things we'll be able to see in the near future if procedural generated games keep improving, especially space related ones!

Yesterday I got a blueprint for a rare item, so I went to the space station to see if I could buy it's components and voilà, a lot of travellers did sell them!

2 items cost around 500.000 units (450 for one and 50 for the other) and I could selo the item from up to 2.400.000 to 800.000 when I stopped. I made myself a billionaire in a gaming session!

Here's a video I made showing what ai was doing. I'm sure there are better ways, but yeah, this worked for me :D

Because of this, I got my first S class ship! It's a weird looking one (looks like a vertical blade when it's flying and the bottom wing rotates upwards when landing).

Now I'll buy a huge cargo ship so I can mine and carry around stuff to build my base :)

The Capital ship feature is the one I'm leaving a side for now as it's too dn complex for a beginner. I'll take care of my quests, upgrading my equipment and then I'll dive into it if it's worth it.

I need a multi tool! My ****** one has all 6 slots taken and I can't find a better one. The best I've seen was 12 or 14 slots but I didn't have the stuff to fix it at the time so I skipped it.

The first achivemnt I got to the max level was walking around! I lose myself wandering planets (and moon!). The moon was so fun with the low gravity physics. :D

Progress has been made. I finally repaired my first ship. Now I can travel. Also landed on a new planet. I have no idea if objectives are important or not. I will go to the space station sooner or later. I hope I can see people someday, but man. The world is so big.

Oh man, I was hoping not to hear this. I guess I'm going to hold off for now. I have too many games I'm juggling right now anyway tbh, I will revisit this game later and hopefully they listen and patch some things.

First off, I am really annoyed that all the time I put into the max upgrades, prior to this update are no longer there as they are listed as "Obsolete technology". I have absolutely no motivation to grind once again for upgrades.

While I do like having to get resources for stuff to a point, I feel like the game is going overboard now with the amount of grinding for resources you have to do now. It's becoming a bit too complex and tedious for my liking

I will most likely be spending all the time I play this game in creative mode from now on.

Just found on the internet...View attachment 755514 :lol::lol::dopey::dopey::dopey:
Freighter large room. Everyone with a new save really does have to get one as a priority.

No game I've ever owned has made me grind my gears as much as this and yet makes me grin so much as well.

Do not think of it as an Elite Dangerous but set on planet landing with space legs. They are totally different styles of gameplay. It is a survival game with lots of gathering stuff.

But finding a nice planet, ice and snow are my favourites, and just flying around looking for stuff it is glorious at sunrise and the storms. Omg the storms. Epic. Watch plenty of YouTube videos to give you a proper idea.

Flying sucks though. As does the galaxy map.

Random chance in a "Secure" manufacturing facility, I think. One of those with a reinforced door. You get a random blueprint each time. Some people do it with the superconductor or cryogenic blueprints but since I had this one, I did it also.

I agree, the galaxy map UX is madness...

____

Now I have 2 exoctic S class ships, 1 cargo like S ship, a fast moving S ship and 2 A class ones, one because I like its design (never saw one like it again) and the other one because it has 37 slots, so its more of a portable cargo with various items and materials I "summon" when I'm on a planet and I need something.

I'm now trying to collect stuff to improve my Base. Got the glass blueprint and went to a glacial planet to get frosy crystal. Still, there's so much stuff to do!

Dangit! Why does the flying have to suck? That's probably the singe biggest reason I haven't bought Empyrion (PC) yet, if you watch gameplay videos, the flying bit is reminiscent of the flying physics from a Lego game. Everything else about the game seems really well done though. I'm sure I will get over it if the rest of NMS is good. Going to finish up a few games and clear my plate (so to speak) then I will get this game.

Was raiding Manufacturing Facilities in the hope of finding a high value blueprint I could use to get rich :D Cryopump or Superconductor, Something like that. After 10 facilities I received the Quantum Processor. Worth 4.5M units each. I can actually go back to enjoying the game again and not scouring the Landscape for Facilities. :)
