No problem Alex! :)
I want to run the GT-R for a few more laps just in case i can improve without driving too much, but i will also start to run the Aventador to break it in and be ready for an attempt during the week. :dopey:
...if i have the spare time to do this lol

And there we have the readon your so fast. I think i spend about an hour per car at the most. Perhaps i should try your method!

It can only work his way, period.

You know, I really hated the F40 (ok it's still some kind of love-hate relationship today), I couldn't bring it under the 7:40's first, then I spent more time with it and achieved a 7.37 and I thought to myself: "Woah that time is teh pro!"

Then the aliens here started to max this car and got it to a 7.23! 7.23! I couldn't believe my eyes. So I sat down for another 4 hours or so, and brought my time down to a 7.31.614, and even now, I know I can get even faster with it (not 7.23 fast but faster). So yeah, if you TRUUULY want to max a car, you need to invest several hours AT LEAST. 👍

Can you confirm if your F40 is stock or not? ty

Can't see any reason why Alex's time wouldn't be with a stock car 👍 We work on trust here, and this is just a gentlemen's table & just for fun.

The current F40 time is legit also, I know :P. Stock, fully broken in motor.

btw tried the Aventador and it's a horrid understeer pig! Just my opinion of course, I bet it just don't suit my driving style.

I did a 07:48.xxx in the V12 Vantage, how are you guys a going a whole lot faster? I pushed the car like a mad man..:P thing understeers like a truck. It was my very first lap mind you, but I can't see me knocking of more than 10 seconds, and that's not even close to Manuelo's 07:26.xxx

Just like Timpaq said, the time is legit (of course because the record is still about 9 sec faster than me done by him, oh and he's Finish lol), I'm pretty sure though that I did not do an oil change. And everything is stock as it gets, yes. Am using ABS though.

Also, I just HAVE to ask (everybody), what does "fully broken in" mean?

Wow, thanks! I'll have to give this a go in my stock F40...I think what they mean by 'fully broken in' is an oil change and perhaps after it's first engine rebuild. Any one know for sure? thx guys!

I always do an oil change right after I've bought the car. I've read that it could gain more HP in the end that way. After that drive about 250km or so and do a oil change, the car will gain serious HP. Aventador went up to 722BHP this way. When the car won't gain no more, it's fully broken in I guess. 👍

I see. Well, to me it's like cheating :P, because it's kinda not really stock anymore, but I guess I'll do that with my F40, to bring that bitch finally under 7.30 lol.

Well, it's unavoidable to gain HP.. that's why it's allowed here I guess. Might as well make it equal for all and do the times with the broken in motor.

Just quoting myself..

You need an oil change and the engine needs to be broken in. I'm sure you will gain 4-5 seconds only by doing this.

I really can't see why changing the oil would be like cheating :odd:
You do know that your car will lose hp when you don't change the oil from time to time?!

I really improved by spending a lot of time on some cars, At first it definatly made a difference if i ran for several hours until i cant improve. But now i can get really close to my best lap in few attempts.

The last second or so i want to shave is what take me a lot of time. :scared:

I spent less than an hour on the GT-R black edition, with a lot more time i think theres a 7:07 in it, but i can do it a few attempts, or 100. lol

It will also depend of the car, the F40 is the one i had to spend more time.

At first i didnt changed the oil, but i seen some did it and it was allowed, when you are trying to push the car, every hp help. Like Manuelos and Timppaq said, theres a lot of gains in the oil change and run the car until it reach is max hp(break-in...)

I seen like 7-8kmh faster at the end of the straight in some cars, at least 1.5-2 sec gains most of time.

I will try the Aventador tonight, just a few lap to get a feel of the car. :)

Edit: Tried the car, i understand what you mean Timppaq lol I'll need sometime to get used to it,
tons of understeer off throttle, but endless oversteer under throttle if your not careful! :D

7:06 on your second lap is awesome Manuelos:tup:, after 315km on the car im at 7:08.500, but i found what i did wrong on my last lap, i shaved 1.500 at half of the track, then lost control and decided to stop, was not focused that much tonight, next time !

Shaved a bit more time off. Im pretty sure i can get this to 7:46.xxx with more work. That took me about an hour

i was trying to beat manuels time for the merc 190e cosworth, i was like 5-secs out, so i decided to do the body rigidity thing....wow i got a 8:30,774 i think and after about another 30+ goes over a period of a week a finally beat it, i got a 8:28,??? cant remember the rest...now i dont know if that was entirely due to the rigidity work, maybe i just drove better that time

i think even tho the car was new and had zero miles, the car was still old as it was made years ago and maybe weakness crept in after all them years of standing still lol, chassis got deformed slightly as a result of car just staying still and pressure applying to the same points in the chassis year after year.....

whatever the reason is it does make a big difference imo.

It depend of the car from what i tested, on the F40 it did nothing for me except i had 500k less credit lol :D

Just a quick session, later i had 1 sec gain at 4th split a couple times and one at 1.300 ahead but lost control or just pushed too much....:ouch: its a tricky car to drive, not sure if i like or dislike it... :) I think 7:04 would also be my limit with this car.

How many laps do you guys usually do with one car until you're satisfied with your lap times?

It depends really. If i know i made mistakes i keep going untill im satisfied. Once i think my lap is clean i do 5 more or so to see if i can find any more time. Usually over the space of 2 or 3 days

Yes, it mostly depend the car, for the Supra RZ the other day, i did 4 lap total.
For the GT-R about 6 lap with some restarts. total 166km with some test drive on route X.

For the Aventador though i did around 6 complete laps so far but a lot of restart where i knew i wouldnt be able to improve as much as id like. Fighting for the last second i want to shave... :)

I find that its not even worth trying untill the second lap. The tires are still cold on a restart and so you lose time for the first 30 seconds while they get up to racing temp.

That's hard to believe, I've done all my laps on the 'outlap'.

And I do usually around 2-10 laps (completed). But lots of restarts, depending on the car

Don't feel any difference at all

Depends, most of the time I'm doing only 2-3 laps.
With the Aston Martin V12 I did around 6 laps and with the Toyota 86 GT around 10 laps

I hate searching for that last tenth :sly:

Yeah its the worst part!:D especially if i stop a session and continue another day (and i know theres still some time left..), sometimes i need like 2 laps just to ''relearn'' the car. :yuck:

I also agree for the tires, minus the first curve for some cars, i dont think you need to heat the tires that much, it never really affected my lap times :)

Whish PP of the cars was noted, would be easier to see times how fast they are. Some cars can get a bit more HP after couple of oilchanges too.

👍

At the moment I'm doing all the standard Honda's, I will post the whole list once I'm finished. (should take another 2-3 weeks)

I did already beat these 2 :sly:

Sucker. But thx for letting me know, don't have to drive the other ones. If you're missing one though, tell me, I can lend it to you.

Edit: Oh and are you also doing the RM versions?
